Building on the main sections of the book, this concluding chapter identifies four thematic areas for future research into the urban-transportation-geography nexus as follows: (1) the everyday experience of transport and mobility in the “ordinary city”; (2) the environment and the urban politics of mobility; (3) connected cities and competitive states; and (4) transportation mobility and new imaginaries of city-regional development
COUNTRY OWNERSHIP OF REFORM PROGRAMMES AND THE IMPLICATIONS FOR CONDITIONALITY
The essence of ownership is the acceptance of full responsibility for the consequences of a programme. Ownership matters because of the expectation that programme design will be more appropriate and country authorities will be resolute in taking steps domestically to ensure full implementation of the programme. The steps include seeking proper domestic legitimation, which will prevent certain "political economy" factors from disrupting programme implementation. That programme success is correlated with degree of ownership and that ownership is correlated with implementation, which in turn is correlated with programme legitimation, are supported by available evidence. Ex ante selectivity is easily made preferable to ex post, and for financial support a recipient country must satisfy the donor country or organization team as to the reality of ownership, soundness of the programme (policies and outcomes), and adequate implementation capacity. From a positive perspective, forces operating on both the demand and supply side of aid should inevitably bring about a new equilibrium regime in the aid relationship that excludes traditional conditionality.
An investigation of the interaction of N2O with the Si(111)-7 × 7 surface using AES and optical reflectometry; A comparison with O2
At 300 K, N2O decomposes into N2, leaving behind atomic oxygen at the Si(111)¿7 × 7 surface. Decomposition at two different sites is proposed, having the overall initial reaction probability: s(0) = (6.7 ± 0.7) × 106. SiOx(x not, vert, similar 1) bonds are predominantly formed, saturation occurring at monolayer coverage. This oxygen monolayer appears to completely prevent further oxygen uptake by additional N2O or O2 exposures, in contrast with the adsorption behaviour of O2 on Si(111)-7 × 7, which exhibits slow sorption beyond one monolayer

Ground reflections which are similar for all (Yagi) elements of a phased array and change the radiation pattern of the single elements are discussed. This consequently yields a change of the radiation pattern of the entire array. It is assumed that the radiation pattern of a Yagi antenna can be treated in a good approximation for the present purpose, similar to the pattern of a single dipole, if one confines to radiation angles which are roughly perpendicular to the main beam of the Yagi antenna

Female rat hippocampal cell density after conditioned place preference
The hippocampus is important for learning tasks, such as conditioned place preference (CPP), which is widely used as a model for studying the reinforcing effects of drugs with dependence liability. Long-term opiate use may produce maladaptive plasticity in the brain structures involved in learning and memory, such as the hippocampus. We investigated the phenomenon of conditioning with morphine on the cell density of female rat hippocampus. Forty-eight female Wistar rats weighing on average 200-250 g were used. Rats were distributed into eight groups. Experimental groups received morphine daily (three days) at different doses (2.5, 5, 7.5 mg/kg) and the control-saline group received normal saline (1 ml/kg), and then the CPP test was performed. Three sham groups received only different doses (2.5, 5, 7.5 mg/kg) of morphine without CPP test. Forty-eight hours after behavioural testing animals were decapitated under chloroform anaesthesia and their brains were fixed, and after tissue processing, slices were stained with cresyl violet for neurons and phosphotungstic acid haematoxylin for astrocytes. The maximum response was obtained with 5 mg/kg of morphine. The density of neurons in CA1 and CA3 areas of hippocampus after injection of morphine and CPP was decreased. The number of astrocytes in different areas of hippocampus was increased after injection of morphine and CPP. It seems that the effective dose was 5 mg/kg, as it led to the CPP. We concluded that both injection of morphine and CPP can decrease the density of neurons and also increase the number of astrocytes in the rat hippocampus
Determinants of farmers’ compliance with coffee eco-certification standards in Mt. Kenya region
This paper sought to investigate determinants of farmers’ compliance with coffee eco-certification standards in Mt. Kenya region. Socio-economic, institutional and farm factors were analyzed and the binary logistic regression model was used to predict factors enhancing compliance. The findings show that perception of benefits, coffee as the main source of income, annual coffee production, and the number of times a farmer sprayed annually; were the main drivers of compliance. The findings point towards a growing concern that certification projects focus on ‘progressive’ farmers rather than seek to uplift and integrate ‘weak’ farmers.
