The Determining Factors of Entrepreneurial Activity in Broiler Farms

Indonesia still requires approximately 4 million entrepreneurs to become a developed country. This research aimed at identifying and analyzing the factors forming the broiler farm entrepreneurial activities that contribute on generating new entrepreneurs in Indonesia. Primary data were collected through questionnaire and analyzed by Structural Equation Modeling (SEM). Independent latent variables were innovations (IN), productions (DP), competitiveness (DS), risks (PR), labors (TK), and policies (KP), and then entrepreneurial activities (AK) as dependent latent variable. The results showed that the model was built (MODEL1 as measurement model and MODEL2 as structural model) had goodness fit and good reliability measurement variables (CR≥0.70, VE≥0.50). Innovation was reflected by the level of willingness to innovate (λ=0.63) and level of technology (λ=0.62). Production was reflected by production efficiency (λ=0.62) and cost control (λ=0.43). Competitiveness was reflected by the internet (λ=0.56), the cost of starting (λ=0.55), and new business formation (λ=0.58). Labor was reflected by the training and development (λ=0.57), and motivation (λ=0.42). Policies was reflected by access to land (λ=0.56), technical assistance (λ=0.60), research and technology (λ=0.66), and copyright protection (λ=0.64). The entrepreneurial activity of broiler farms were formed by innovation (γ=0.91), competitiveness (γ=0.94), and policies (γ=0.98). Broiler farms contributed positively to generate new entrepreneurs. Production and information technology development program, facilitation of the creation of new ventures program, business expansion program, and a program of strengthening intellectual property rights on broiler farms should be a priority of the Indonesian government programs in the future

    Determining All Universal Tilers

A universal tiler is a convex polyhedron whose every cross-section tiles the plane. In this paper, we introduce a certain slight-rotating operation for cross-sections of pentahedra. Based on a selected initial cross-section and by applying the slight-rotating operation suitably, we prove that a convex polyhedron is a universal tiler if and only if it is a tetrahedron or a triangular prism.Comment: 18 pages, 12 figure

    Determining Reactor Neutrino Flux

Flux is an important source of uncertainties for a reactor neutrino experiment. It is determined from thermal power measurements, reactor core simulation, and knowledge of neutrino spectra of fuel isotopes. Past reactor neutrino experiments have determined the flux to (2-3)% precision. Precision measurements of mixing angle θ13\theta_{13} by reactor neutrino experiments in the coming years will use near-far detector configurations. Most uncertainties from reactor will be canceled out. Understanding of the correlation of uncertainties is required for θ13\theta_{13} experiments. Precise determination of reactor neutrino flux will also improve the sensitivity of the non-proliferation monitoring and future reactor experiments. We will discuss the flux calculation and recent progresses.Comment: 5 pages. 4 figures. Neutrino 2010 Conference Proceeding. v2: peer-reviewed versio

Determining interaction rules in animal swarms

In this paper we introduce a method for determining local interaction rules in animal swarms. The method is based on the assumption that the behavior of individuals in a swarm can be treated as a set of mechanistic rules. The principal idea behind the technique is to vary parameters that define a set of hypothetical interactions to minimize the deviation between the forces estimated from observed animal trajectories and the forces resulting from the assumed rule set. We demonstrate the method by reconstructing the interaction rules from the trajectories produced by a computer simulation.Comment: v3: text revisions to make the article more comprehensibl

Determining whether ICT improves social interactions

[Abstract]: Governments are increasingly aware of the power of the Internet as medium for communication and social interaction. Using the Internet Technology on broadband provides fact access to information and communication. In Western Australia, a network neighborhood is built on the combination of these technologies as a pilot project. This technology is expected to be used by the Western Australian government in order to provide services that would realize in a better quality of life to the residents of this neighborhood. This paper presents the results of a study conducted to test whether ICT actually improves the quality of life by facilitating social interactions as this appears to be a major cause for concern. The aim of the study is to present evidence that ICT is capable of enhancing social interactions and then to justify the use of this technology for improving the quality of life. For this purpose, after studying the Network Neighborhood by a team of students, a survey was conducted among residents of a small township in Western Australia to determine the positive effect of technology or otherwise. The initial survey administered prior to the implementation of the technology indicated that people in the Picton Waters neighbourhood were socially isolated and needed social interactions to improve the quality of their lives

Determining Ω\Omega from cluster correlation function

It is shown how data on the cluster correlation function can be used in order to reconstruct the density of the pregalactic density field on the cluster mass scale. The method is applied to the data on the cluster correlation amplitude -- richness dependence. The spectrum of the recovered density field has the same shape as the density field derived from data on the galaxy correlation function which is measured as function of linear scales. Matching the two amplitudes relates the mass to the comoving scale it contains and thereby leads to a direct determination of Ω\Omega. The resultant density parameter turns out to be Ω\Omega=0.25.Comment: to appear in Physics Reports, "Dark Matter 98", vol.30
