Hello! Or, How I Got Here
If you frequent the library, chances are you’ve seen me at the circulation desk. I’ve been a circulation desk assistant since my freshman orientation almost two years ago. I’ve loved libraries, books, and reading since before I started kindergarten, so the library seemed like a natural place for me to find my on-campus job. I soon fell in love with working at the desk; I particularly liked when I got to go into the stacks to look for an item that a patron couldn’t find or that had been requested for Inter-Library Loan. ANALISIS DAMPAK PENERAPAN IT SERVICE DESK PADA BANK XYZ
Tujuan dari penelitian ini untuk mengidentifikasi faktor-faktor penentu kinerja operasional IT yang
terkait dengan IT Service Desk. Dan untuk menentukan konsiderasi implementasi IT Service Deskd alam bisnis
proses perusahaan. Populasi dalam penelitian ini sebanyak 1500 karyawan atau user dari layanan IT Service
Desk. Dengan menggunakan metode Slovin, didapat 100 user sebagai sampel. Variabel dalam penelitian ini
antara lain adalah faktor-faktor kesuksesan dari IT Service Desk dan Problem Management. Metode
pengumpulan data menggunakan metode kuesioner. Analisis data menggunakan analisis multivariate yaitu
analisis faktor. Adapun kesimpulan dari diperoleh dari penelitian ini antara lain faktor-faktor kesuksesan dari
IT Service Desk dan Problem Management ada 9 variabel dan menjadi 37 indikator. Dari hasil penelitian, ada
hubungan antar faktor yang satu dengan yang lain. Dan setelah proses reduksi ternyata dari 37 indikator
terbentuklah 4 faktor baru yang terdiri dari faktor quick solution, faktor excellent IT Service Desk, faktor focus
support, faktor excellent staff. Dari keseluruhan faktor baru tersebut quick solution merupakan faktor baru yang
paling dominan
Performance evaluation of ductless personalized ventilation in comparison with desk fans using numerical simulations
The performance of ductless personalized ventilation (DPV) was compared to the performance of a typical desk fan since they are both stand-alone systems that allow the users to personalize their indoor environment. The two systems were evaluated using a validated computational fluid dynamics (CFD) model of an office room occupied by two users. To investigate the impact of DPV and the fan on the inhaled air quality, two types of contamination sources were modelled in the domain: an active source and a passive source. Additionally, the influence of the compared systems on thermal comfort was assessed using the coupling of CFD with the comfort model developed by the University of California, Berkeley (UCB model). Results indicated that DPV performed generally better than the desk fan. It provided better thermal comfort and showed a superior performance in removing the exhaled contaminants. However, the desk fan performed better in removing the contaminants emitted from a passive source near the floor level. This indicates that the performance of DPV and desk fans depends highly on the location of the contamination source. Moreover, the simulations showed that both systems increased the spread of exhaled contamination when used by the source occupant

I never thought I would feel this comfortable at the desk. At the end of last week a lot of librarians weren\u27t in the building so I picked up one of their shifts. In January I never would have thought I could just volunteer for that. The idea of being at the desk alone was pretty scary, so the thought of being at the desk when there were very few librarians even in the building would have been flat out terrifying. But it was fine!
