Analysis Students' Critical Thinking Skills in Solving Problems in Terms of Cognitive Style

A Critical Perspective Analysis of Indonesian Accounting Thought: Some Preliminary Thoughts on the Search for Better Understanding of Accounting in Practice
This paper provides some preliminary thoughts on a long-term qualitative research project investigating the development of Indonesian accounting thought. The first thought is to explicate accounting and its relation to the existing sociological perspective. Western and Indonesian sociological perspective are includes in analyses. The second thought is that the understanding of historical development of accounting in Indonesian is significantly needed for deeper analyses on the current development and problems of Indonesian accounting. It is also argued that accounting colonialism‟s legacy has much shaped the models of Indonesian accounting today. The third thought is that given the adoption of critical perspective, accounting in practice provides a richer picture. For example, accounting can be viewed as a central to the process of reality construction within an organization, shaping decision making in accordance with the value and perspective of the organizational and social reality

A critical analysis of COA research.
Five experts respected for their significant contributions to the scientific literature on children of alcoholics (COA's) offer their perspectives in a panel discussion format. The panel members reflect on the historical roots of COA research and comment on its current status and future direction. Enriched by the panelists' variety of backgrounds, research interests, and approaches, the discussion emphasizes the need to consider multiple variables that influence the risk for alcoholism among COA's
Bedroom indoor air comfort : a critical analysis
The criteria that are currently used for the assessment of Indoor Air Quality in a residential context were developed in the ‘80s and relate to comfort during occupancy. More than half the time at home however, is spent in the bedroom. There is no strong indication that the criteria that are traditionally used to assess Indoor Air Quality also relate to the level of comfort while asleep. Moreover, analysis of the results of a performance assessment of frequently used residential ventilation systems based on these traditional criteria, shows that they are dominated by the pollution level in the bedrooms
Field-Theoretical Analysis of Critical and Coexistence Singularities at Critical End Points
Continuum models with critical end points are considered whose Hamiltonian
depends on two densities and .
Field-theoretic methods are used to show the equivalence of the critical
behavior on the critical line and at the critical end point and to give a
systematic derivation of critical-end-point singularities like the thermal
singularity of the spectator-phase boundary and the
coexistence singularities or of the
secondary density . The appearance of a discontinuity eigenexponent
associated with the critical end point is confirmed, and the mechanism by which
it arises in field theory is clarified.Comment: Latex2e file using elsart stylefile, no figures. submitted to

Regime Analysis of Critical Raindrop Diameters for Rainfall Attenuation in Southern Africa
The influence of critical raindrop diameters on the specific rainfall attenuation in Durban (29o52'S, 30o58'E), South Africa using various rainfall regimes is analyzed in this paper. Different rain rate values representing drizzle, widespread, shower and thunderstorm are selected for the purpose of analysis over the measured raindrop size distribution. The three-parameter lognormal and gamma DSD models with shape parameter of 2 are used to estimate the parameters required to investigate the drop sizes which produce a major contribution to the total specific rainfall attenuation for the selected rain rate values. The computed total specific attenuation increases with increasing frequencies and rain rates. The highest and prevailing contribution to the specific attenuation occurs at for the stratiform (drizzle or widespread) and convective (shower or thunderstorm) rain types for the models considered. The total percentage fraction formed by drops in the diameter range 0.5 mm ≤ D ≤ 2.5 mm and 1.0 mm ≤ D ≤ 3.0 mm are found to be most critical for the specific rain attenuation for the stratiform (drizzle and widespread) and convective (shower and thunderstorm) rainfall types especially at higher frequencies
Critical Semiotic Analysis and Cultural Political Economy.
A case is made for cultural political economy (CPE) by exploring the constitutive role of semiosis in economic and political activities, economic and political institutions, and social order more generally. CPE is a post-disciplinary approach that adopts the cultural turn in economic and political inquiry without neglecting the articulation of semiosis with the interconnected materialities of economics and politics within wider social formations. This approach is illustrated from the emergence of the knowledgebased economy as a master discourse for accumulation strategies on different scales, for state projects and hegemonic visions, for diverse functional systems and professions, and for civil society
