New modification of the hestenes-stiefel with strong wolfe line search
. The method of the nonlinear conjugate gradient is widely used in solving large-scale unconstrained optimization since been proven in solving optimization problems without using large memory storage. In this paper, we proposed a new modification of the Hestenes-Stiefel conjugate gradient parameter that fulfils the condition of sufficient descent using a strong Wolfe-Powell line search. Besides, the conjugate gradient method with the proposed conjugate gradient also guarantees low computation of iteration and CPU time by comparing with other classical conjugate gradient parameters. Numerical results have shown that the conjugate gradient method with the proposed conjugate gradient parameter performed better than the conjugate gradient method with other classical conjugate gradient parameters
Passive phase conjugate mirror based on self-induced oscillation in an optical ring cavity
A passive phase conjugate mirror based on four-wave mixing in an optical ring cavity is described. Unlike previously demonstrated passive phase conjugate mirrors it generates only one of its pumping beams by nonlinear optical interactions, the other being provided by feedback of the probe after transmission through the nonlinear medium. The results of a theory yielding phase conjugate reflectivity and oscillation thresholds are presented together with an experimental demonstration of phase conjugation in barium titanate and strontium barium niobate. The device is self-starting by four-wave mixing, and has an oscillation threshold lower than that of other previously demonstrated passive phase conjugate mirrors with similar ease of alignment. The operation of a device which generates nonconjugate oscillation beams is also reported
Binding-incompetent adenovirus facilitates molecular conjugate-mediated gene transfer by the receptor-mediated endocytosis pathway
Molecular conjugate vectors may be constructed that accomplish high efficiency gene transfer by the receptor-mediated endocytosis pathway. In order to mediate escape from lysosomal degradation, we have incorporated adenoviruses into the functional design of the conjugate. In doing so, however, we have introduced an additional ligand, which can bind to receptors on the cell surface, undermining the potential for cell specific targeting. To overcome this, we have treated the adenovirus with a monoclonal anti-fiber antibody, which renders the virus incapable of binding to its receptor. The result is a multi-functional molecular conjugate vector, which has preserved its binding specificity while at the same time being capable of preventing lysosomal degradation of endosome-internalized conjugate-DNA complexes. This finding indicates that adenoviral binding is not a prerequisite for adenoviral-mediated endosome disruption
Conjugate Projective Limits
We characterize conjugate nonparametric Bayesian models as projective limits
of conjugate, finite-dimensional Bayesian models. In particular, we identify a
large class of nonparametric models representable as infinite-dimensional
analogues of exponential family distributions and their canonical conjugate
priors. This class contains most models studied in the literature, including
Dirichlet processes and Gaussian process regression models. To derive these
results, we introduce a representation of infinite-dimensional Bayesian models
by projective limits of regular conditional probabilities. We show under which
conditions the nonparametric model itself, its sufficient statistics, and -- if
they exist -- conjugate updates of the posterior are projective limits of their
respective finite-dimensional counterparts. We illustrate our results both by
application to existing nonparametric models and by construction of a model on
infinite permutations.Comment: 49 pages; improved version: revised proof of theorem 3 (results

Exact solution of a nonlinear model of four-wave mixing and phase conjugation
An exact solution of a nonlinear model of holographic four-wave mixing is derived. An expression for the reflectivity of a phase-conjugate mirror with depleted pumps is presented. We find that such a phase-conjugate mirror may exhibit bistability
