QCD and Top-Quark Results from the Tevatron

Selected recent QCD and top-quark results from the Tevatron are reviewed, aiming to illustrate progression from basic studies of QCD processes to verification of perturbative calculations and Monte Carlo simulation tools, and to their applications in more novel and complex cases, like top-quark studies and searches for new physics.Comment: Presented at the Physics at LHC 2006 Conference for the CDF and D0 Collaborations; submitted to Conference Proceedings 12 pp., 26 Fig

Study of direct-photon and pion production

We present comparisons of high-pT photon and pion production in hadronic interactions with expectations from next-to-leading order perturbative QCD (NLO pQCD). We also comment on phenomenological models of kT smearing (which approximate effects of additional soft-gluon emission) and on the status of resummation calculations.Comment: Talk given at DPF2000, 9-12 August 2000, Columbus, OH.
