    Designing the Conceptual Model of Digital Library Evaluation using the Fuzzy Delphi Method

    Purpose: The present paper aims at identifying and extracting the dimensions, components, and criteria of digital library evaluation based on experts` opinions and the 5S conceptual framework of Goncalves.Methodology: This was an applied, documentary, and survey research making the best use of the fuzzy Delphi method (to extract criteria and develop the conceptual model), forming a trinity in methodology. To refine the components, and criteria, 20 Iranian and foreign experts were polled about digital libraries in 3 stages. The results of each stage were refined based on Minkowski formula. This was an applied research since it presented the evaluation criteria of Iranian digital libraries, and its results can be practically used, enabling digital libraries to evaluate and examine their status quo, and accordingly plan and enhance their activities. It was a descriptive study based on the research design and data collection method. To gather the data, three methods were used: documentary study, fuzzy Delphi (to extract criteria and develop the conceptual model), and survey, creating a trinity in methodology. Findings: During the three stages of the experts` poll, in Stream component 4 criteria, Structure component 4, Space component 4, Scenario component 5 and in societies component 3 ones were refined and also the results of each stage were refined using the formulas of Cheng and Lin model and ultimately the experts agreed with each other on 20 criteria. Conclusion: A digital library evaluation model was designed with 5 dimensions (components), 20 criteria, and 50 sub-criteria. It was offered to all organizations and universities as an evaluation model for digital library performance examination, so that they properly perceive the efficiency and effectiveness of digital libraries and their services

    Developing a Comprehensive Model for Using Institutional Repositories in E-learning

    Objective: The aim of this study was to develop and validate a comprehensive model of using institutional repositories of e-learning. The focus was on identifying the influential factors of the repository in e-learning. Methods The present research is a qualitative study using the meta-synthesis method. In this research, the library method was used to collect data and information; and to analyze data the seventh-step process of Sadowski and Barroso for meta-synthesis was used. The research population of the study includes related studies (articles and dissertations) in the area of the role of the institutional repository dimensions in e-learning. The CASP evaluation checklist was used to ensure the quality of the studies. Finally, out of 129 retrieved studies, 28 titles were selected and then the thematic content was analyzed, coded, and categorized. Subsequently, quantitative research was carried out to validate the obtained model with the opinion of experts using the fuzzy TOPSIS technique. Results: Analysis of studies on the use of institutional repositories in e-learning led to the identification of 23 concepts, 14 categories and 6 components in this field. The main dimensions include data, metadata, search, retrieval, service, and resource component. Conclusions: Considering that learning management systems are used in electronic education; however, they are often feeble repositories for educational purposes, and they cannot generate metadata for easy search of resources, the possibility of interaction, sharing, and reuse of the information. Although, it cannot be integrated with other learning management systems to provide access to more resources. Therefore, the repository can promote e-learning and expand the capabilities of the learning management system

    Identifying the Content Production Risk Components in Digital Libraries: A Qualitative Study

    Risk management is a preventive activity that identifies project risks and technical and non-technical problems for key managers and stakeholders by identifying project risks. The introduction of new digital forms of information not only has created rich and extraordinary opportunities for libraries to expand community access to information and create a positive relationship between libraries and users but poses some degree of risk. The present study employs a qualitative research approach with The Fuzzy Delphi Method (FDM). For data collection, a researcher-made questionnaire was used to identify the risks of content production in digital libraries. The FDM was employed for complete analysis using 20 IT experts on a 5-point Likert scale. The study identified 61 sub-components under nine main content production risk components: human, environmental, infrastructure, conservation and maintenance, technical, copyright, integration, evaluations of resource content, and information security risks. The present study addresses the content production risk components so that authorities can assist in planning and decision-making to prevent and resolve content production issues in digital libraries. https://dorl.net/dor/20.1001.1.20088302.2022.20.1.4.

    Investigating the Degree of Compliance of Bibliographic Records of the Manuscript Database of the Library of the Holy Shrine of Hazrat Abdolazim with the Iranian MARC Standard

    Purpose: This research investigated the overlap between bibliographical records in the manuscripts database of Abdulazim library with Iran Marc standard. Methodology: The methodology of this research is the descriptive- survey method, and used a combination method of study and review literature. For the research aim, is chosen 100 title manuscripts that were the same in the manuscripts database of Abdulazim library and the manuscripts database of the national library of Iran. For data gathering used checklist. Cheklist had 2 sections including bibliographical features and manuscript features. Data was collected by direct observation method, then these were surveyed and compared. Findings: Findings showed, the manuscripts database of Abdulazim library didn’t consider some manuscript features such as leaf size, donated notes, consideration, and adornments, and this is a weak point for the Abdulazim library. In comparison this database described bibliographical features thoroughly. Most overlap between Abdulazim database and, IRANMARC fields assigned adornment of manuscripts, consideration, cover size, type of cover, number of leaves, donate note, type of chirography, the place that book was written, scribe, annotation, adornment of cover, complete/ incomplete, possession and etc. Most overlap between libraries in the description of bibliographical features assigned original title, subject, date of writing, language, number of manuscripts, introduce of the manuscript. Conclusion: The results indicate that the Abdulazim library database has performed well in describing the bibliography section and has been able to complete the main fields related to the author, main title, etc., By the standard rules of the Iranian brand. The description of the bibliographic characteristics of the manuscripts has performed poorly, and only one field is used to mention the appearance characteristics of the manuscripts. Value: The present study is the first to identify the differences in the description and cataloging of the manuscripts of the Astan library of Hazrat Abdul Azim with the standard cataloging rules of the Iranian MARC (manuscript)

    Ranking of production and management risks of digital resources in digital libraries by means of Shanon Entropy and Fuzzy TOPSIS Techniques

    Purpose: The present research has been done with a view to evaluation and ranking of production and management of digital resources in the supply chain of digital libraries. Methodology: The present research is essentially an applied one and the method employed, has been descriptive survey based on Shanon Entropy and Fuzzy TOPSIS methods. Findings: According to our findings, the risks of “Collection development strategy of digital resources” with highest rate of Proximity Coefficient(PC)=%731 stand in the first place and then the other ones in order include: risks of “Management strategy of digital resources at libraries” with PC=%7186, “The high cost of technological changes of information carriers and storage formats” with PC=711 and “Competence of library software in detecting repetitious copies” with PC=%651. Conclusion: 26 risks for production and management of digital resources in the supply chain of digital libraries have been identified and amidst production and management risks of digital resources in the supply chain of digital libraries the risk of” Collection development strategy of digital resources” stands in the first place

    Identifying the criteria of institutional repositories: examining the institutional repository of Al-Zahra University

    Objective: The purpose of this article is to identify the institutional repository evaluation indicators and to evaluate the compliance of the institutional repository of Al-Zahra University with it. Methodology : This research has used the qualitative method., the meta-combined method has been used to create the indicators. And the panel of experts has been identified to refine the criteria and a last part of the researcher-made checklist has been used to check the realization of the selected criteria using descriptive statistics. Findings: The findings showed that a total of 70 elements divided into six categories (technology, policy, content, marketing, personnel and user application) are among the evaluation indicators which was obtained from the meta-synthesizing and the institutional repository of Al-Zahra University was evaluated according to these criteria. Conclusion: According to the research findings, institutional repository indicators were conceptualized in 6 dimensions of technology, procedure, content, marketing, personnel and user, which serves the analysis of institutional repositories. The result is that the condition of Al-Zahra University repository corresponds to 3/4 standards in terms of standards. And a slight weakness is seen in some areas such as procedure and line and policy and content management and technology and personnel. Which should be carefully reviewed in weak areas and try to improve the quality of the institutional repository such as Spark

    Building children and adolescents’ electronic book reading system: a conceptual model

    Regarding to design an applicable electronic book reading system for children and adolescent, this study’s struggle is to prepare a conceptual model. We used quantitative approach and Delphi method in order to analyze data. In this regard, criterion based sampling is used to identify the research population. 15 experts were identified which had criteria such as having subjective publications, teaching experience, and so on. We supposed that these experts could present more information that we expected to collect. Moreover, 8 electronic book systems were selected to be reviewed, because of their plenty of active audiences, and their international and also standard presence. Firstly identified practical criteria in designing electronic books by extracting them from related resources and checking active systems. These data helped us to prepare primitive version of the checklist and it completed after passing validity control step with participation of three experts. Then the checklist presented to experts in Delphi panel. Finally, consensus on the components was reached after three rounds of Delphi panel. The results showed that in designing electronic books for children, there are five original components. The components are display screen features with 12 criteria, screen organization with 13 criteria, interaction and feedback with 8 criteria, search and retrieval features with 10 criteria, and help and guidance features with 10 criteria. Consequently, display screen features with score of 3,706 and interaction and feedback with score of 3,700 were selected as the most important components in designing electronic book systems by the viewpoints of Delphi experts

    Characterization of protein kinases in platelets

    Numerous studies of cell division control have demonstrated the importance of cell cycleregulated protein kinase networks that are modulated by altering phosphorylation state. To determine whether such kinase networks only function in cell cycle regulation or also function in terminally differentiated cells, studies were undertaken to identify and characterize protein kinases of blood platelets and to monitor kinase activation in platelets activated by phorbol myristate acetate (PMA), platelet activation factor (PAF) or thrombin. Protein kinase C (PKC) was reported to lose calcium- and phospholipid-dependence as a result of proteolysis. The activation state of platelet PKC was studied by anion exchange chromatography of the extracts of PMA-treated platelets. Length of PMA exposure correlated with the disappearance of peak I and II PKC forms and the appearance of new PKC species (peaks III and IV) with lower calcium and lipid dependence in histone HI phosphorylation assays. Alkaline phosphatase treatment of peak IV/V PKC forms led to the appearance of the peak I and III forms, implicating protein phosphorylation in the interconversion of PKC forms. A 32 kDa, cdc-2-like protein kinase in platelet cytosol extracts was identified by its affinity for p13[sub suc1] and its immunoreactivity with anti-PSTAIRE antibody; it associated with cyclin A. PAF or thrombin augmented the kinase activity of the p34[sub cdc2]-cyclin A complex. The stimulation of p34[sup cdc2] was near maximal within one minute exposure to either agonist. Column chromatography and immunoblotting studies revealed both p42[sup erk2] and p44[sup erk1] -like MAP kinases, but only p42eHc2 underwent tyrosyl phosphorylation. The S6 kinases p90[sup rsk] and p70[sup sk6] were found in fractions containing elevated S6 phosphotransferase activity. PMA-activation of MBP and S6 kinases occurred through a PKC-dependent pathway of MAP kinase activation. However, activation by PAF utilized both PKC-dependent and independent pathways. Further upstream, MAP kinase kinase (MEK1) was stimulated by PMA, or thrombin. Subsequently, Rafl, an upstream component of MEK1 signalling, was identified. Using immunoprecipitation and affinity chromotography, interaction and complex formation was detected among Rafl, MEK1, ERK1 and ERK2. These data were the first to demonstrate a complex MAP kinase-dependent signalling network in platelets. These findings provide evidence to support the hypothesis that a protein kinase cascade that has been strongly linked to the control of cell cycle progression in somatic cells has become adapted for alternative functions in terminally differentiated cells.Medicine, Faculty ofMedicine, Department ofExperimental Medicine, Division ofGraduat

    Students' health literacy in the face of the corona crisis

    Today, the spread of the corona virus has become a major global crisis and has involved many countries, including Iran. One of the consequences of the spread of coronavirus news is the spread of false information, fake news, and terror among the members of society. The present study was conducted to study the level of health literacy of Allameh Tabatabai University students in the face of the Corona crisis. The current research is of an applied type and it is a survey-analytical type in terms of the method of implementation, data collection, and analysis. The research population is the Allameh Tabatabai University students of all levels (bachelor, master, and doctorate) studying in the academic year 2021-2022. The sample size of 288 people was selected with the formula (8M + 50≤N) suggested by Tabachnick and Fidel (2007). A researcher-made questionnaire was used to collect data. Content validity and reliability were evaluated using Cronbach's alpha with a value of 0.941. To analyze the data, independent t-tests, analysis of variance, and Pearson's correlation coefficient were used using SPSS26 and AMOS26 software.&nbsp
