    Get PDF
This paper presents a brief overview of the methods of treatment of acute pancreatitis and describes an experimentally-clinical research of improvement of antibiotic therapy efficacy. Particular emphasis is placed on the effectiveness of intensive conservative treatment of aseptic pancreatic necroses, particularly, antibiotic therapy. The main causative agents of infection in the infected pancreatic tissue are presented in this paper. The research was conducted at the Department of Surgery of SBEI CPE KSMA and the Department of Pharmacology of SBEI CHE KSMU on 40 male and female rats weighing 150 to 250 grams used to study the concentration of Cefotaxime by high performance chromatography with different methods of its administration. Application of galvanization at administration of antibiotics in experimental pancreatitis is more efficient as compared with conventional antibiotic administration after 24 hours of reproduction of acute pancreatitis. The clinical part of the study involved comparison of a group of patients (n-27) undergoing an interstitial electrophoresis time on the background of antibacterial therapy, and a group of patients (n-26) receiving conventional antibiotic treatment. Complications in the main group were observed in 13% of patients with a predominance of localized infections (3 cases of acute fluid pockets, 1 case of retroperitoneal abscess) as compared with the control group - 34.6% of patients with a predominance of extensive forms of infection (15% had omental and retroperitoneal abscesses, 19% had retroperitoneal phlegmon). Accordingly, the main group underwent predominantly non-invasive procedures, and the control group underwent laparotomy, marsupialization, and lumbotomy. The mortality rate in the study group was 10%, and in the control group - 15%. The use of interstitial electrophoresis in addition to antibiotic therapy contributes to reduction in the frequency of septic complications, to predominance of localized infections, and reduces mortality in patients with acute destructive pancreatitis

Configuration effect of the tert-butylthiacalix[4]arene tetracarboxy derivative on its receptor properties toward vaporous organic compounds

    Get PDF
The effect of carboxy groups and the stable conformation of tert-butylcalix[4]arenes containing four carboxymethoxy substituents at the lower rim on their receptor properties toward organic substances and water was studied for the systems with guest vapor and solid host. For this purpose, the compositions of clathrates formed in these systems, their thermal stability, and parameters of the host-guest affinity were determined by the quartz microbalance method, thermogravimetry, thermogravimetry combined with differential scanning calorimetry and mass spectrometry, and static headspace gas chromatography. The introduction of four carboxymethoxy groups into tert-butylthiacalix[4]arene enhances its receptor capacity and affinity to water and aliphatic alcohols and decreases the thermal stability of the most part of the studied clathrates with hydrophobic guests except benzene. The studied tert-butylthiacalix[4]arene derivatives can be promising receptors for use in mass-sensitive sensors of the quartz microbalance type to methanol and ethanol vapors. © 2009 Springer Science+Business Media, Inc

The receptor properties of metastable polymorphic forms of 5,11,17,23-tetra(tert-butyl)-25,26,27,28-tetrakis[N-(2-ethoxycarbonyl(methyl) carbamoylmethoxy]-2,8,14,20-tetrathiacalix[4]arene in the cone and partial cone configurations obtained by the crystallization of their solutions in an organic solvent were studied. The ability of the studied calixarenes to "remember" the history of interaction with individual vaporous organic guests and their mixtures was discovered. The observed different effects of methanol and ethanol vapors on the phase state of the studied calixarene in the cone configuration can be used for qualitative and quantitative analyses of ethanol in binary mixtures. Calixarene in the partial cone configuration can remember the earlier bound methanol. The "memory" effect appears as a specific polymorphic transition in the receptor phase after bound methanol leaving on heating the clathrate. This effect is not observed for other studied guests. © 2014 Springer Science+Business Media, Inc

Effect of ferrihydrite on 2,4,6-trinitrotoluene biotransformation by an aerobic yeast

    Get PDF
This study investigated the impact of ferrihydrite on the pathway and rate of 2,4,6-trinitrotoluene (TNT) transformation by Yarrowia lipolytica AN-L15. The presence of ferrihydrite in the culture medium decreased the rate of TNT biotransformation but resulted in the accumulation of the same TNT metabolites as in the absence of ferrihydrite, albeit at slightly different concentrations. Transformation products observed included aromatic ring reduction products, such as hydride-Meisenheimer complexes, and nitro group reduction products, such as hydroxylamino- and amino-dinitrotoluenes. Independently of the presence of ferrihydrite the subsequent degradation of the hydride complex(es) resulted in the release of nitrite followed by its conversion to nitrate and nitric oxide at the low pH values observed during yeast cultivation. Nitric oxide generation was ascertained by electron spin resonance spectroscopy. In addition, increased Fe3+-reduction was observed in the presence of TNT and Y. lipolytica. This study demonstrates that in the presence of yeast cells, TNT-hydride complexes were formed at approximately the same level as in the presence of ferrihydrite, opening up the possibility of aromatic ring cleavage, instead of promoting the production of potentially toxic nitro group reduction products in the presence of iron minerals. © 2012 Springer Science+Business Media Dordrecht

Assessment of a biogas-generating microbial community in a pilot-scale anaerobic reactor

    Get PDF
In this work bacteria and methanogenic archaea utilizing agricultural wastes in a pilot-scale biogas reactor were examined using sequencing and terminal restriction fragment length polymorphism analysis. Based on the analyses of 16S rRNA genes, Clostridia represented the most diverse group in the digester. Of the Clostridia, unclassified Clostridiales and the members of the genera Anaerotruncus and Tissierella were detected at high abundances. The representatives of the bacterial phyla Bacteroidetes and Proteobacteria were also defined, but in minor proportions, and were assigned to non-dominant communities. Within the phylum Euryarchaeota, the members of the orders Methanosarcinales and Methanomicrobiales were found at high levels. Methanogenic archaea were analyzed using both 16S rRNA and mcrA genes. Actually good results were received using both approaches; however, the rRNA gene method missed the non-dominant order Methanobacteriales. © 2013 The Society for Biotechnology, Japan

Monitoring of forest ecosystems of Taimyr (Second communication. First communication in N. 3, 2017)

    Get PDF
In the study, based on the analysis of literary sources and the own research materials, the characteristic of the environmental situation in Taimyr is done, in connection with aerial technogenic impact of the Norilsk mining and smelting complex (NMSC). The dynamics of forest condition over the past decade in the area within 200 km or more from the complex is evaluated. The analysis was performed taking into account the landscape structure of the territory. The progressive drying of the large areas of the northern forests since the early 80’s is registered. The dendroclimatic analysis of the increment of older larch trees in the zone of the NMSC impact, implemented by the method of revealing the main factors influencing the increment, showed that since the beginning of the 20th century, the instability of the increment of wood has increased due to the sensitivity of this tree species to changes in the temperature conditions of growth. To assess the extent of forest damage, an aerial survey was conducted in July, 2003, as a result of which zoning of the territory adjacent to the NMSC was carried out according to the degree of damage to the stands: dead stands, severely damaged stands and moderately damaged stands. An estimation of the productivity of stands and the degree of their damage by landscape locations was made. The negative role of sulfur compounds was assessed and contemporary measures for sulfur utilization were described

Using clathrate pseudopolymorphism for a single sensor detection of target component in the headspace of liquid mixture

    Get PDF
A new sensing mechanism for mass-sensitive sensors is offered, which is based not on the preferential binding as usual, but on the specific shape of sensor kinetic response. The used mechanism includes formation of an intermediate clathrate and then of a saturated clathrate between a substrate (guest) and a receptor (host), which breaks the sensor response into two separate steps. The corresponding host-guest pseudopolymorphism allows the discrimination of a target substrate in complex mixtures using a single gravimetric sensor. This mechanism does not require for a substrate to have multiple functional groups for a complementary host-guest binding. Moreover, qualitative and quantitative molecular recognition of hydrocarbon in the mixtures with its close homologues can be achieved. Such ability was performed in the present work for a thiacalix[4]arene derivative coating of a quartz-microbalance sensor, which is able to recognize benzene in the headspace of its liquid mixtures with toluene, xylenes, ethylbenzene, water, nitriles, alcohols and other compounds. The pseudopolymorphism of host-guest clathrate and low-temperature polymorphism of the host was confirmed by the determination of vapor sorption isotherms, thermoanalysis and X-ray powder diffraction analysis of the host-guest saturation products. © 2010 Elsevier B.V.
