This book, first of all, introduces the new unveiled Guangdong-Macao Intensive Cooperation Zone with details as a special mode of the regional collaborative development that is committed to be mutually beneficial to both sides with different political and economic systems. China's central authorities have recently issued a masterplan for constructing the Guangdong-Macao Intensive Cooperation Zone at Hengqin Island in September 2021. As China's first and last European colony and one of China’s two special administrative regions (SARs), Macao has developed the gambling industry seven times larger than that of Las Vegas. However, the problem of the homogeneous industrial structure and the urgent need to promote sustainable economic growth by regional cooperation have been important theoretical and practical issues discussed by scholars and policy-makers. The Guangdong-Macao Intensive Cooperation Zone (ICZ) is managed under special customs supervision between two boarder lines and expected to diversify Macao’s economy. Then, this book dissects the theory of regional synergistic development and its applications in a number of international comparative and cross-interdisciplinary case studies worldwide. Finally, from the perspective of land use, transportation connection, and social service, this book thoroughly explores the challenges and strategies to implement the new cooperation model within the framework of one country, two systems, two customs, and two currencies to achieve a win–win situation using updated first-hand data collected by literature review, case study, field survey, spatial analysis, and interview

    Epidemiological analysis of hydrometra and its predictive value in gynecological tumors

    IntroductionHydrometra is a common gynecological disease, especially in postmenopausal women. However, its epidemiology, harmfulness, and value in predicting gynecological tumors have not been clearly elucidated.MethodsIn this study, the prevalence rate of and risk factors for hydrometra were investigated in 3,903 women who underwent screening for gynecological diseases at Zhoupu Hospital in Shanghai from 1 January to 31 December 2021. In addition, pathological distribution of hydrometra and its predictive value in gynecological tumors were studied in another 186 patients in whom hydrometra was diagnosed sonographically at Zhoupu Hospital, from 1 January 2020 to 31 December 2021, and who underwent hysteroscopy and postoperative pathological examination.ResultsThe observed prevalence rate of hydrometra was 10.86%, which was higher than the prevalence of other gynecological diseases. Univariate and multivariate analysis indicated that advanced age (OR 1.11) and vaginitis (OR 3.18) were independent risk factors for hydrometra. Among 186 patients with a sonographic diagnosis of uterine fluid, simple hydrometra accounted for 34.41% of cases, inflammation accounted for 16.23%, and hematometra accounted for 2.15%, while gynecological tumors accounted for 5.91%. Moreover, univariate and multivariate analysis indicated that a higher body mass index (>23.92 kg/m2), greater hydrometra volume (i.e., distance between the two layers of endometrium>4.75 mm), and abnormal vaginal bleeding were high-risk predictive factors for gynecological tumors.DiscussionIn conclusion, hydrometra is a common disease, and is a risk factor for endometrial cancer and cervical cancer, especially in patients with higher hydrometra volume, higher BMI, and abnormal vaginal bleeding.     Relationship between self-care compliance, trust, and satisfaction among hypertensive patients in China

    IntroductionHypertension is a growing public health concern worldwide. It is a leading risk factor for all-cause mortality and may lead to complications such as cardiovascular disease, stroke, and kidney failure. Poor compliance of hypertensive patients is one of the major barriers to controlling high blood pressure. Compliance is not ideal among Chinese patients, and increasing patient self-care compliance with hypertension is necessary.MethodsThis article analyzes the status of self-care compliance, trust, and satisfaction among Chinese hypertensive patients using cross-sectional data from Zhejiang Province. We use a multi-group structural equation model (MGSEM) to compare the interrelationships across genders.ResultsThe study's findings show that the average trust, satisfaction, and compliance scores are 3.92 ± 0.55, 3.98 ± 0.61, and 3.33 ± 0.41, respectively. Female patients exhibit higher average total scores for trust and compliance than male patients. The SEM results indicate that trust has a direct positive association with compliance [β = 0.242, 95% CI: (0.068, 0.402)] and satisfaction [β = 0.260, 95% CI: (0.145, 0.367)], while their satisfaction is not directly associated with compliance. The results of MGSEM show that trust has an indirect effect on compliance in the male group through satisfaction [β = 0.051, P < 0.05, 95% CI: (0.012, 0.116)]. In the female group, trust has a direct effect on satisfaction [β = 0.235, P < 0.05, 95% CI: (0.041, 0.406)] and compliance [β = 0.319, P < 0.01, 95% CI: (0.086, 0.574)].DiscussionThis study reveals the mechanisms of self-care compliance, trust, and satisfaction among Chinese hypertensive patients. Its findings may serve as a reference for guiding primary healthcare providers to improve hypertension patients' compliance and implement gender-targeted health interventions

    Chromosome-scale genomics, metabolomics, and transcriptomics provide insight into the synthesis and regulation of phenols in Vitis adenoclada grapes

    Vitis adenoclada is a wild grape unique to China. It exhibits well resistance to heat, humidity, fungal disease, drought, and soil infertility. Here, we report the high-quality, chromosome-level genome assembly of GH6 (V. adenoclada). The 498.27 Mb genome contained 221.78 Mb of transposable elements, 28,660 protein-coding genes, and 481.44 Mb of sequences associated with 19 chromosomes. GH6 shares a common ancestor with PN40024 (Vitis vinifera) from approximately 4.26–9.01 million years ago, whose divergence occurred later than Vitis rotundifolia and Vitis riparia. Widely-targeted metabolome and transcriptome analysis revealed that the profiles and metabolism of phenolic compounds in V. adenoclada varieties significantly were differed from other grape varieties. Specifically, V. adenoclada varieties were rich in phenolic acids and flavonols, whereas the flavan-3-ol and anthocyanin content was lower compared with other varieties that have V. vinifera consanguinity in this study. In addition, ferulic acid and stilbenes content were associated with higher expressions of COMT and STSs in V. adenoclada varieties. Furthermore, MYB2, MYB73-1, and MYB73-2 were presumably responsible for the high expression level of COMT in V. adenoclada berries. MYB12 (MYBF1) was positively correlated with PAL, CHS, FLS and UFGT.Meanwhile, MYB4 and MYBC2-L1 may inhibit the synthesis of flavan-3-ols and anthocyanins in two V. adenoclada varieties (YN2 and GH6). The publication of the V. adenoclada grape genome provides a molecular foundation for further revealing its flavor and quality characteristics, is also important for identifying favorable genes of the East Asian species for future breeding

    A Modified Hyaluronic Acid–Based Dissolving Microneedle Loaded With Daphnetin Improved the Treatment of Psoriasis

    Psoriasis is a common chronic immune-inflammatory disease. Challenges exist in the present treatment of psoriasis, such as difficulties in transdermal drug administration and severe side effects. We hope to achieve a better therapeutic outcome for psoriasis treatment. By using modified soluble microneedles (MNs) loaded with daphnetin, the psoriasis symptoms of mice, the abnormal proliferation of keratinocytes, and the secretion of inflammatory factors were significantly reduced. In vitro, daphnetin is proven to inhibit the NF-κB signaling pathway and to inhibit the proliferation of HaCaT cells and the release of inflammatory factors, especially CCL20. This research showed that the modified microneedle loaded with daphnetin optimized transdermal drug delivery and relieved the symptoms of psoriasis more effectively. The novel route of Daph administration provides a future research direction for the treatment of psoriasis
