Dual-wavelength Interdigital Capacitive Sensor for Dielectric Material Detection

Interdigital capacitive sensors are widely used for non-destructive measurement of dielectric material properties in industry, with the advantages of one-sided inspection, adjustable signal strength and tomography capability. The dual-wavelength interdigital capacitive sensor has dual penetration depth, can be used for inspection material properties at different depths from the surface (Figure 1). In order to improve the imaging quality of capacitive sensor systems and enhance the inspection accuracy, the structure parameters optimization of the sensor and the edge-detection algorithm is studied. An analysis of how the sensor unit parameters affect the performances, such as the sensitive field distribution, sensitivity, and signal strength is presented. The interpolation algorithm and Canny Operator edge-detection is also studied. For example with the two-layer damaged dielectric material, the area is 240 × 240 mm2, the thickness of the first and the second layer are 0.35 mm, 0.3mm respectively. The relative permittivity of the first and the second layer are 3 and 6.The dual-wavelength sensor (Figure 2) is designed for the damage detection and the simulation is conducted. The results show that the damages in different layer can be detected effectively

Purpose: To investigate the effect of apigenin on Barrett's esophagus–associated esophageal adenocarcinoma (BEAC) cells OE33, and also to ascertain the mechanism by which it inhibits cellular proliferation and motility. Methods: Proliferation index of OE33 in the absence and presence of apigenin was determined by methyl-thiazolyl-tetrazolium (MTT) assay and apoptosis was determined by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) method. Boyden Chamber’s assay was applied to determine the migration and invasion of control and apigenin-treated OE33 cells. Status of PI3K/Akt/mTor signaling was further determined by Western blotting in control and apigenin-treated cells. Results: Apigenin resulted in the inhibition of the proliferation of OE33 cells in a dose- and timedependent fashion, with an IC50 of 75 μM, after 72 h of incubation, and also induced apoptosis, with modulation of pro- and anti-apoptotic genes. Furthermore, apigenin inhibited the motility of OE33 by targeting PI3K/Akt/mTOR signaling. Conclusion: Apigenin effectively inhibits the oncogenicity of OE33 cells by targeting PI3K/Akt/mTOR pathway. Keywords: Barrett's esophagus–associated esophageal adenocarcinoma (BEAC), Apoptosis, Migration, Anticance

New Approach on the General Shape Equation of Axisymmetric Vesicles

The general Helfrich shape equation determined by minimizing the curvature free energy describes the equilibrium shapes of the axisymmetric lipid bilayer vesicles in different conditions. It is a non-linear differential equation with variable coefficients. In this letter, by analyzing the unique property of the solution, we change this shape equation into a system of the two differential equations. One of them is a linear differential equation. This equation system contains all of the known rigorous solutions of the general shape equation. And the more general constraint conditions are found for the solution of the general shape equation.Comment: 8 pages, LaTex, submit to Mod. Phys. Lett.

On the convergence conditions of Laplace importance sampling with randomized quasi-Monte Carlo

The study further explores randomized QMC (RQMC), which maintains the QMC convergence rate and facilitates computational efficiency analysis. Emphasis is laid on integrating randomly shifted lattice rules, a distinct RQMC quadrature, with IS,a classic variance reduction technique. The study underscores the intricacies of establishing a theoretical convergence rate for IS in QMC compared to MC, given the influence of problem dimensions and smoothness on QMC. The research also touches on the significance of IS density selection and its potential implications. The study culminates in examining the error bound of IS with a randomly shifted lattice rule, drawing inspiration from the reproducing kernel Hilbert space (RKHS). In the realm of finance and statistics, many problems boil down to computing expectations, predominantly integrals concerning a Gaussian measure. This study considers optimal drift importance sampling (ODIS) and Laplace importance sampling (LapIS) as common importance densities. Conclusively, the paper establishes that under certain conditions, the IS-randomly shifted lattice rule can achieve a near O(N−1)O(N^{-1}) error bound.Comment: 21 pages,2 figure
