Collapse simulation of a typical super-tall RC frame-core tube building exposed to extreme fire
The previous fire accidents proofed that reinforced concrete (RC) structures may experience progressive collapse subjected to extreme fires. In consequence, the study on the extreme fire-induced progressive collapse of RC structures is important for the safety of buildings. However, limited study has been performed on the extreme fire-induced progressive collapse of super-tall buildings. In this work, a finite element (FE) model and the corresponding elemental deactivation technology is proposed to simulate the extreme fire-induced progressive collapse of a typical super-tall RC frame-core tube building. The simulation discovered that the collapse of the building is initiated by the flexural failure of perimeter columns because of the thermal expansion of the floor system. The mechanism that discovered can provide a reference for related research of the fire safety of RC buildings
Experimental Research on the Ground Surface Quality of Creep Feed Ultrasonic Grinding Ceramics (Al2O3)
AbstractIn order to grind the ceramic blade surface with the Numerical Control contour evolution ultrasonic grinding method using the simple shape grinding wheel, primary comparative experiments of creep feed grinding with and without ultrasonic vibration were carried out to grind Al2O3 ceramics so as to implore the effects of different process parameters on the machined surface quality. It can be concluded that when the direction of ultrasonic vibration is parallel to the direction of creep feed, the value of the surface roughness will be decreased; otherwise the surface quality will become worse. With the ultrasonic grinding method, the slower feed-rate, the smaller grinding depth, the higher grinding speed and the compound feed grinding method should be applied in order to improve the surface quality. The creep feed grinding mechanisms with and without ultrasonic vibration were analyzed theoretically from the experimental results. With the selected grinding parameters resulted from the experiments, the feasibility experiment of ultrasonic grinding ceramic blade surface was carried out
Finite volume effects of the Nambu-Jona-Lasinio model with the running coupling constant
With the Schwinger's proper-time formalism of the Nambu-Jona-Lasinio model,
we investigate the finite volume effects in the presence of magnetic fields.
Since the coupling constant can be influenced by strong magnetic fields,
the model is solved with a running coupling constant which is fitted by
the lattice average and difference .
The investigation mainly focuses on the constituent quark mass and the thermal
susceptibility depending on the magnetic fields, the temperatures and the
finite sizes. For the model in finite or infinite volume, the magnetic fields
can increase the constituent quark mass while the temperatures can decrease it
inversely. There is a narrow range of the box length that makes the effects of
finite volume perform prominently. The model will behave close to infinite
volume limit for larger box length. It is shown that the influence of finite
volume can be changed by magnetic fields and temperatures. Finally, we discuss
the thermal susceptibility depending on the temperature in finite volume in the
presence of magnetic fields.Comment: 13 pages, 6 figure
