Upper critical field and de Haas-van Alphen oscillations in KOs2_2O6_6 measured in a hybrid magnet

Magnetic torque measurements have been performed on a KOs2_2O6_6 single crystal in magnetic fields up to 35.3 T and at temperatures down to 0.6 K. The upper critical field is determined to be \sim30 T. De Haas-van Alphen oscillations are observed. A large mass enhancement of (1+λ\lambda) = m/mbandm^* / m_{band} = 7.6 is found. It is suggested that, for the large upper critical field to be reconciled with Pauli paramagnetic limiting, the observed mass enhancement must be of electron-phonon origin for the most part.Comment: 4 pages, 4 figures, published versio

Massive Scaling Limit of beta-Deformed Matrix Model of Selberg Type

We consider a series of massive scaling limits m_1 -> infty, q -> 0, lim m_1 q = Lambda_{3} followed by m_4 -> infty, Lambda_{3} -> 0, lim m_4 Lambda_{3} = (Lambda_2)^2 of the beta-deformed matrix model of Selberg type (N_c=2, N_f=4) which reduce the number of flavours to N_f=3 and subsequently to N_f=2. This keeps the other parameters of the model finite, which include n=N_L and N=n+N_R, namely, the size of the matrix and the "filling fraction". Exploiting the method developed before, we generate instanton expansion with finite g_s, epsilon_{1,2} to check the Nekrasov coefficients (N_f =3,2 cases) to the lowest order. The limiting expressions provide integral representation of irregular conformal blocks which contains a 2d operator lim frac{1}{C(q)} : e^{(1/2) \alpha_1 \phi(0)}: (int_0^q dz : e^{b_E phi(z)}:)^n : e^{(1/2) alpha_2 phi(q)}: and is subsequently analytically continued.Comment: LaTeX, 21 pages; v2: a reference adde

    Anharmonicity in one-dimensional electron-phonon system

We investigate the effect of anharmonicity on the one-dimensional half-filled Holstein model by using the determinant quantum Monte Carlo method. By calculating the order parameters we find that with and without anharmonicity there is always an transition from a disorder phase to a dimerized phase. Moreover, in the dimerized phase a lattice dimerization and a charge density wave coexist. The anharmonicity represented by the quartic term suppresses the dimerization as well as the charge density wave, while a double-well potential favors the dimerization. In addition, by calculating the correlation exponents we show that the disorder phase is metallic with gapless charge excitations and gapful spin excitations while in the dimerized phase both excitations are gapful.Comment: 5 page

Large spin-orbit splitting and weakly-anisotropic superconductivity revealed with single-crystalline noncentrosymmetric CaIrSi3

We report normal and superconducting properties of the Rashba-type noncentrosymmetric com- pound CaIrSi3, using single crystalline samples with nearly 100% superconducting volume fraction. The electronic density of states revealed by the hard x-ray photoemission spectroscopy can be well explained by the relativistic first-principle band calculation. This indicates that strong spin-orbit interaction indeed affects the electronic states of this compound. The obtained H - T phase diagram exhibits only approximately 10% anisotropy, indicating that the superconducting properties are almost three dimensional. Nevertheless, strongly anisotropic vortex pinning is observed.Comment: 8 pages, 6 figures, 1 table, accepted for publication in Phys. Rev.

Nodal Superconducting Order Parameter and Thermodynamic Phase Diagram of (TMTSF)2ClO4

The organic materials (TMTSF)2X are unique unconventional superconductors with archetypal quasi-one-dimensional (Q1D) electronic structures. Here, based on our comprehensive field-angle-resolved calorimetry of (TMTSF)2ClO4, we succeeded in mapping the nodal gap structure for the first time in Q1D systems, by discriminating between the Fermi wavevectors and Fermi velocities. In addition, the thermodynamic phase diagrams of (TMTSF)2ClO4 for all principal field directions are obtained. These findings, providing strong evidence of nodal spin-singlet superconductivity, serves as solid bases for further elucidation of anomalous superconducting phenomena in (TMTSF)2X.Comment: 7 pages, 7 figures, including Supplemental Information added at the end of the manuscrip
