The Impact of Dyslexia on the Effectiveness of Online Learning: A Systematic Literature Review
Dyslexia can have an impact on online learning outcomes. However, few studies have examined the association between dyslexia and online learning effectiveness. This systematic review focused on the effects of dyslexia on online learning effectiveness to conduct research in three major categories: analysis of impact, analysis of dyslexia on online learning, and analysis of interventions. A screening of two bibliographic databases identified 37 articles that met the inclusion criteria. The study determined that dyslexic learners are uncomforted with online learning and suffer from frustrated self-confidence and decreased academic performance in the learning process. It even affects the learners' evaluation of themselves and causes a decrease in self-efficacy. Among these, research on influencing factors can be divided into two dimensions: internal and external factors. Dyslexic learners are influenced by both the type of dyslexia and their psychological characteristics, as well as by teachers, teaching strategies, online educational environments, and educational media. These influences provide intervention strategies, such as developing customized online learning systems for dyslexic learners and exploring interventions in telerehabilitation medicine. However, no intervention strategies involve adjustments to the internal psychology of dyslexic learners and external support systems. Therefore, more research is needed to explore the differential impact of dyslexia on online learning and to understand the factors that produce this impact to provide a theoretical basis and direction for the generation of instructional strategies for dyslexics and the adaptation of online learning for dyslexics
Smartphone usage motives and academic performances among undergraduates in University Putra Malaysia
This article generally explored factors that influenced smartphone usage motives and academic performances among undergraduates in the Faculty of Modern Language and Communication, University Putra Malaysia. Usage of smartphone facilities towards learning goal was also another possible factor considered since it seemed little or no consideration has been given to using the facilities for learning goals. Furthermore, smartphone usage pattern was also examined in this project paper. Quantitative data was collected through survey questionnaire, which was administered to 303 respondents in four departments of Modern Language and Communication Faculty via simple random sampling technique. Regarding the result, the first hypothesis outcome showed no significant relationship between smartphone cognitive need and academic performances. While the second hypothesis, showed a significant positive relationship between smartphone personal integrative need and academic performances. In the usage of smartphone facilities for learning goal, it showed that greater numbers of them utilized smartphone facilities such as Web Browser, Email and Short Message Service (SMS) as learning facilities, though Web Browser was identified as the most smartphone facility used for leaning goal. In terms of usage patterns, the result affirmed that the respondents chose patterns that were considered most appropriate to them
The implementation of medical assistance fund system in Ministry of Health Malaysia
The rapid technological development and the growing use of information communication technology (ICT) in business organizations have become the centre of attention in past few years. This ICT has facilitated the decision-making process of an organization. The use of the latest applications will speed up the process of implementation and monitoring of organizational activities and programs. In this regard, the Medical Assistance Fund (TBP) has
been established by the Government to help patients especially B40 groups who cannot afford to seek treatment in Government Hospitals, clinics and Public University Medical Centers. Through the use of the Medical Assistance Fund System (STBP) (Phase 1) on May 2021 in all hospitals throughout Malaysia will speed up the application process and approval to eligible patients. This paper to discuss the policy decision-making process of redeveloping STBP and subsequently the implementation of STBP
Big data analytics in forecasting voters’ sentiment vis-à-vis decision making in future general elections and by-elections in Malaysia post-2021
Barack Obama had practically won the 2012 US Presidential Elections on Big Data Analytics. While he was busy addressing a big rally in downtown Chicago or elsewhere, his teams were engaged in data mining on millions of American voters whom they believed to have the tendency to support their Democrat candidate against Republican Mitt Romney. If in the 2008 elections Obama was nicknamed The Social Media President, the Washington Post had in the 2012 US presidential re-elections dubbed him The Big Data President. Obama’s campaign has often been said to have revolutionised the American democracy, thus giving credence to his digital election campaign strategies, which were not only innovative
but also effective. Such was innovation in today’s politics and elections, which is the subject of this paper. Big Data Analytics is all but new in Malaysian politics, rearing its infinitesimal presence only in the 2013 General Elections and then poised to become a game changer in the succeeding 14th General in Elections in 2018. However, the potential of big data analytics was not fully realised in local Malaysian politics as yet, and as much as it was in the Malaysian business sector which has been leveraging on data mining to push their products especially in the fast moving consumer goods (FMCG) segment. This paper shall discuss the prospective maximisation of big data analytics in the next general elections, possibly the GE15 and how it will tremendously effect the level playing field of political parties which were still wrapped in the age-old traditional-conventional method of predicting voters’ tendency
and their voting pattern. As proven to be an effective political campaign tool for Obama and his presidential victory in 2012, Big Data Analytics should now be seen and anticipated as the inevitable for political parties in Malaysia to intelligently win the next general elections and by-elections
Redefining Immediacy for Email Satisfactory Communication: South-East Nigerian Lecturers’ Perspectives
Notwithstanding the empirical evidence that Nigerian academic staff utilized email as one of asynchronous virtual communications, recent studies pointed that low productivities were still witnessed by them due to email inability of giving them timely responses as viable means of communication. Therefore, this study was necessitated for redefining immediacy effects towards reaching email satisfactory communication among South-East Nigerian academic staff. Qualitative investigative study via case study was conducted towards soliciting their views on how to redefine immediacy for email satisfactory communication. The major findings of the study demonstrated that effective internet availability and affordable subscriptions, homophilous patterns of communications, content structure strategy, enhancing regularly email checking awareness, and power supply availability were the immediate remedies for achieving email satisfactory communication. The study eventually recommended that these factors should be taken into considerations by them towards attaining email satisfactory communication and in other asynchronous virtual communication mediums
AR Technology-Assisted Selfie Design and Dissemination Path Analysis
Augmented reality (AR) is a technology based on 3D registration, virtual-real fusion and human-computer interaction to achieve the integration of virtual objects and real scenes. The core problem of augmented reality task is the accurate and fast recognition and tracking of objects in real scenes, which provides the technical basis for updating and optimizing the selfie design. This paper discusses the specific technical path of AR applied to selfie design based on the deep learning approach, and demonstrates the impact of different deep learning algorithms on the effectiveness of the integration of AR and selfie, and finally the paper discusses the application prospects of AR in selfie
To Explore the Influence of AR-Filtered Selfies on Impression Management in Users' Intrapersonal Communication Under Computer-Mediated Communication (CMC)
Selfies are increasingly being shared on social media. On the basis of selfies, traditional beauty filters only finish tasks like whitening and face-lifting. However, with the introduction of augmented reality technology into selfie filters, more and more virtual impressions are presented, causing new influences on social media. This paper explores the influence of AR filters on the impressions management of selfie under Computer Mediad Communication (CMC) from the perspective of Goffman's (1959) dramaturgical theory. This study adopts a qualitative phenomenological research paradigm. Data were collected using document analysis, focus groups and in-depth interviews at two universities in Pingdingshan, China. Research has found that the media characteristics of AR filter selfies allow users to have a rich ability to choose and present their impressions, prompting users to project multiple impressions of themselves on social media. Let users be willing to communicate intrapersonally with AR selfies, thereby achieving self-improvement. This article expands the application scope of new media AR filters of dramaturgical theory in CMC. It also provides a basic understanding of the further communication influence of AR selfies on senders and receivers in CMC. This can provide relevant reference for the government to formulate media policies and manage social media platforms. It can also provide relevant research results as research by other relevant scholars
