THE TAXONOMIC TREAMENT OF CAMELLIA LUUANA (SECT. DALATIA) IN THE CENTRAL HIGHLANDS, VIETNAM

    Get PDF
Camellia luuana Orel & Curry is known only from its type locality, Ta Dung Nature Reserve, now Ta Dung National Park, Dak Nong Province, the Central Highlands of Vietnam. No characteristics of fruit and seeds, which are the most important to divide genera in Theaceae (Chang & Ren, 1998; Ming & Bartholomew, 2007; Sealy, 1958), were presented in its protologue. After carefully reviewing the protologue, specimens, and images of Camellia luuana, relevant species and genera, and conducting a field investigation around its type locality, we concluded that this species is not a member of Camellia, but a member of  Pyrenaria

Disorder effects on the quantum coherence of a many-boson system

The effects of disorders on the quantum coherence for many-bosons are studied in a double well model. For the ground state, the disorder enhances the quantum coherence. In the deep Mott regime, dynamical evolution reveals periodical collapses and revivals of the quantum coherence which is robust against the disorder. The average over variations in both the on-site energy and the interaction reveals a beat phenomenon of the coherence-decoherence oscillation in the temporal evolution.Comment: 4 figure

Fiber-Optic Micro-Probes for Measuring Acidity Level, Temperature, and Antigens

    Get PDF
A pH micro-probe, a temperature micro-probe, and an immuno-based micro-probe each include a shaft for transmuting an input light signal and a tip for inserting into a cell or other substance for measuring pH, temperature, and/or antigens. The pH micro-probe and the temperature micro-probe each include a luminescent material positioned on the tip of the micro-probe. The light signal excites the luminescent material so that the luminescent material emits a luminescent light signal. The luminescent light signal has a property value dependent on the pH or temperature being measured and reflects back through the shaft for being measured by a light signal measuring device. The immuno-based micro-probe includes a reflective material that has an effective refractive index dependent on the number of antigen-antibody bonds present on the reflective material
