Changes in the content of biogens in the waters of the Pratwa river flowing through the pre-dam reservoir Brzozki
This paper presents the results of water quality measurements carried out in the Pratwa river that flows through the pre-dam reservoir located in the backwater of the Brzozka reservoir in the Opole province. The research was carried out over the period from November 2005 to October 2007. Its goal was to evaluate the changes in the content of biogens at three measurement points: in the Pratwa river, in the pre-dam reservoir and at the outflow from the pre-dam reservoir. The assessment was performed based on the water quality measurements in terms of the content of the following biogens: NO3–, NO2–, NH4+, PO43– and chlorophyll a. Moreover, water transparency was measured in the pre-dam reservoir. The measurements show that over the investigated period of time the Brzozki pre-dam reservoir adversely affected the quality of water in the Pratwa river. The content of all of the investigated biogens in the water outflowing from the pre-dam reservoir was higher than that in the water inflowing to it. The measurements also show that over the investigated period of time the pre-dam reservoir did not fulfil the functions expected of pre-dam reservoirs. Because of the transparency and the content of chlorophyll, the water from the reservoir was deemed eutrophic. The water in the Pratwa river was also deemed eutrophic, but the reason for this was the content of nitrates. The paper shows that one should try to make the pre-dam reservoirs contribute to the protection and improvement of water quality. To this aim, one should use such reservoirs correctly and monitor the quality of water inflowing to the reservoir as a result of water and sewage management in the catchment
Assesment results of quality study of water from Komorow reservoir on Milikowka brook
Praca dotyczy małego zbiornika wodnego Komorów położonego na potoku
Milikówka, w km 5,400, w woj. dolnośląskim. Główną funkcją zbiornika jest retencja
wody dla rolnictwa i rekreacji. Praca zawiera wyniki badań jakości wody
dopływającej do zbiornika, wody retencjonowanej w zbiorniku i odpływającej ze
zbiornika, wykonane w okresie od marca do października 2009 roku. Pomiarami
objęto następujące wskaźniki jakości wody: azotany, fosforany, temperaturę wody,
tlen rozpuszczony, przewodność elektrolityczną, odczyn i przezroczystość wody.
Walory
użytkowe wody zbiornika określono, porównując badane wskaźniki z wartościami
granicznymi, jakim powinna odpowiadać woda przydatna do kąpieli.
elektrolitycznej do I klasy jakości wód.
obiektu – Dolnośląski Zarząd Melioracji i Urządzeń Wodnych. The thesis is concerned with a small reservoir Komorów situated on
Milikówka Brook in dolnośląskie voivodship. The main function of the reservoir is
water retencion for agriculture purposes and recreation. The paper includes the
results from the study of the quality of water flowing into the reservoir, water retentioned
there, and flowing out of the reservoir. The study was conducted between
March and October 2009. Following water quality indicators were taken into consideration:
nitrates, phosphates, water temperature, dissolved oxygen, electrolitical
conductivity, reaction and water transparency. Evaluation of water quality according
to the valid Regulation of Minister for the Environment regarding the
means of uniform waters status classification and evaluation of waters eutophication
was described in the thesis. Moreover, it was verified whether waters taken
into scrutiny are vulnerable to nitrogen compounds pollution coming from the agricultural
sources. The usability of water reservoir was estimated by comparision
of the water indicators with the limit values characterizing water suitable for
swimming.
The study revealed that waters flowing into the Komorów reservoir, due to
the nitrate values exeeds limit values for 1st class waters. Water temperature, dissolved
oxygen, electrolitical conductivity and reaction values classify it as 1st class
waters. Waters flowing out of the reservoir, on the other hand, due to the nitrates,
temperature and reaction values classify it in the 2nd class, while the values of dissolved
oxygen and electrolitical conductivity put it in the 1st class of waters quality.
Furthermore, analysis of the retention water of the Komorów reservoir revealed
that the limit values were exceeded only with regard to the water
transparency, relating to the uniform surface water deposits, such as body of water,
announced in Regulation of Minister for the Environment from 2008. It was
stated, as well, that analised waters are not vulnerable to nitrogen compounds
pollution coming from the agricultural sources and are not eutrophic. The results
of the quality study of water from Komorów reservoir state that due to the water
transparency, it does not meet the criteria for the suitable watering places.
Study conducted in the area of Komorów reservoir gives initial information
regarding water quality. In order to receive more detailed information, such study
should be continued. It will contribute to the making of the right economical decisions
relating to utilization of the reservoir by the facility manager – Lower Silesia

Characteristics of bottom sediments of retention reservoir młyny and a possibility of their agricultural use
Zgodnie z klasyfikacją osadów wodnych PIG, osady denne z niektórych części zbiornika Młyny należy zaliczyć do zanieczyszczonych. Wartości indeksów geoakumulacyjnych Igeo kwalifikują osady do klasy 1., to jest osadów nieobciążonych lub umiarkowanie obciążonych. Według wytycznych PIOŚ i IUNG, jakość osadów odpowiada glebom o II stopniu zanieczyszczenia, które stwarzają ograniczenia dotyczące uprawy niektórych roślin konsumpcyjnych. The paper presents a characteristic of physical and chemical properties of bottom sediments from retention reservoir Młyny located on the Julianpolka River and an assessment of their usefulness for agricultural application, based on the concentration of trace elements (Ni, Zn, Pb, Cu). Heavy metal concentrations (in mg·kg-¹) were: Pb 3-109, Zn 25-302, Cu 39-79, and Ni 10-69. According to classification of bottom sediments quality used by Polish Geological Institute, the sediments under study were contaminated in some parts of reservoir. The values of geo-accumulation index Igeo qualify sediments to the class 1, which involves not polluted or moderately polluted sediments. According to the standards of the State Inspectorate for Environmental Protection and the Institute of Soil Science and Plant Cultivation, sediment quality was comparable with that of soils of the 2nd level of heavy metal contamination. According to these standards, production of vegetables is not allowed in soils or sediments of such quality. However, two regulations of the Ministry of Environment (a) on the kind and concentration of substances that pollute bottom sediments, and (b) on soil and earth quality standards, classify the sediments under study as uncontaminated, with the exception of sediments located in the close proximity of the dam. Bottom sediments of the reservoir Młyny are suitable for reclamation and improvement of soils in agriculture and forestry
Wpływ zbiornika wstępnego Mściwojów na jakość wody w zbiorniku zaporowym i poniżej zbiornika
The paper presents results of research carried out in the period of November 2006 – October 2008 and focused on the influence of the Msciwojow pre-dam reservoir on the quality of water in the main reservoir and below. The following water quality indicators were determined: NO3 –, NO2–, NH4+, PO4, water temperature, pH, electrolytic conductivity, dissolved oxygen and chlorophyll a. The measurements were carried out for the Msciwojow reservoir, located on the Wierzbiak river in Lower Silesia province (south-western part of Poland). Contribution of the pre-dam reservoir to the reduction of pollutants in water of the Wierzbiak and Zimnik rivers flowing into the main reservoir was analyzed. During the performed analyzes the following reductions of the main physico-chemical indicators in the pre-dam reservoir were observed, ie nitrates(V) by 69.9 %, phosphates by 32.9 %, nitrates(III) by 63.2 % and ammonia by 62.9 %. The increase of water temperature, pH and dissolved oxygen was also recorded. In the study the quality of water flowing into the Msciwojow reservoir, outflowing water and water stored in the pre-dam and in the main reservoir was assessed. The obtained results showed that the pre-dam reservoir contributed to the improvement of the quality of water flowing into the main reservoir. Proposals for defining dimensions of pre-dam reservoirs and designing principles were presented.W pracy przedstawiono wyniki badań, przeprowadzonych w okresie od listopada 2006 do października 2008 r., dotyczące wpływu zbiornika wstępnego na jakość wody w zbiorniku głównym Mściwojów i poniżej zbiornika. Pomiarami objęto następujące wskaźniki jakooeci wody: NO3–, NO2–, NH4+, PO4, temperaturę wody, pH, przewodność elektrolityczną (konduktywność), tlen rozpuszczony i chlorofil a. Zanotowano wzrost temperatury wody, odczynu i tlenu rozpuszczonego. W pracy przedstawiono ocenę jakości wód dopływających do zbiornika Mściwojów i z niego odpływających, wód retencjonowanych w zbiorniku wstępnym i głównym.

Protection of the quality of water resources from the point of view of environmental programs
poprzez prowadzenie m.in. odpowiedniej gospodarki rolnej,
walorów przyrodniczych i dziedzictwa kulturowego.
opolskim, dokonano ilościowej i powierzchniowej analizy stanu realizacji
w realizacji pakietu „ochrona gleb i wód” mają duże
przedsiębiorstwa rolne (o powierzchni powyżej 50 ha). Żaden z analizowanych
wniosków rolno-środowiskowych nie zawierał pakietu „strefy
buforowe”.
Protection of the quality of water resources against pollution of agricultural
origin requires multidirectional actions. These include reduction of pollution at its
source by introduction, among others, appropriate husbandry in respect of the
outbuilding area and arable land. Such actions in agricultural areas are enabled by
appropriate agricultural-environmental program packages.
They contribute to establishment of constant and sustained development of
rural areas by protection of natural environment, natural qualities and cultural heritage.
They are also financial tools as remuneration for actions in support of environment
protection.
This paper discusses the concept of agricultural-environmental programs,
particularly considering packages that favour water protection. As exampled by the catchment area of Brzózki water reservoir located in the
catchment area of the Pratwa River in Opole Province, advancement of execution of
packages for water protection was subject to a quantity and surface analysis. It was
demonstrated that the largest surface share in the reservoir catchment area in execution
of the package “water and soil protection” is contributed by large agricultural
companies (with area over 50 ha). None of the analysed agricultural-environmental
applications included the package “buffer zones.” On the basis of the investigation of
the reservoir catchment area, it was determined that the package extremely required
to be executed, in particular around the reservoir
Bottom studies of Msciwojow reservoir
The paper concerns to study of grain
composition and contamination content in
bottoms of Mściwojów reservoir. It has been
constructed on stream Wierzbiak in 2000,
in Dolny Śląsk province, and its main function
is water supply of agriculture. Drawing
of samples has been performed in 2002 and
2007. Study results showed that the bed material
from primary settling tank is mainly
dusty sands and fi ne sands, which constitutes
about 80%. To main tank the fi ne fractions
with size d < 0.25 mm delivers less than to
primary part. Above mentioned fractions accumulate
the most pollutions and constitute
potential source of impairing of water quality.
From study of cadmium, copper, nickel,
lead and zinc in bottoms follows that are the
I-st or II-nd class of purity
