The review of Serbian translation of the handbook On social stratification in the BRIC countries: Change and perspectives, Serbian state publisher of textbooks, Belgrade, 2014
Serbian State Publisher of Textbooks from Belgrade once more confirmed its dedication to the mission of contributing to increase the quality of education and development of science and culture in Serbia through publishing important contemporary educational texts of high quality. Just one year after the World Scientific Publishing Co. in Singapore published the English original (2013), they offered to the domestic social science community and general public the Serbian translation of the results of the pioneering comparative research of Social stratification in BRIC countries - Changes and Perspectives, which was published in 2014 by Serbian State Publisher of Textbooks. This path breaking compendium edited leading sociologists with up to date research findings from China (Li Peilin, Institute for sociology of the Chinese academy of social sciences, CASS, 2005), Russia (M.K. Gorshkov, Institute for sociology of the Russian academy of sciences, RAS, 2009), Brazil (Celi Scalon, Federal University in Rio de Janeiro, 2009) and India (K.L. Sharma, National university in Jaepur, 2010). Mentioned editors gathered teams of researchers in respective countries. Only K.L. Sharma, wrote alone nine thematic chapters on: social stratification changes; working class; peasants; entrepreneurs; middle class; income inequality; educational inequality; consumption and class consciousness and values, paying special attention to castes specific to Indian society
Manifesto of the Communist Party 170 years after the first edition: Introduction to the thematic issue of Sociološki Pregled / Sociological Review
One century and seventy years that passed since the first publishing of the Manifesto of the Communist Party (Marx, Engels, 1848), present a good reason to invite the interested authors to reflect on the actuality of main theses of Marx and Engels who summarized them already in this programmatic work while they were still in their twenties, elaborating these theses further in later works, closely related to ups and down of the proletarian class struggle. In the following paragraphs we will review the main theses that are still relevant for understanding the contemporary historical processes and for orienting the action of anti systemic social movements
Transformation of critical theory into apology in the work of Jurgen Habermas
In the paper is analyzed transformation of one part of 'critical theoreticians' into apologists and ideologists of the new old world capitalist order, within the context of twentieth century social conflicts. In the focus of attention is the article 'Bestiality and Humanism - A War on the Border between Law and Moral', that Habermas published during the 1999 NATO bombing of Yugoslavia and criminal violation of all valid national and international legal norms. It is demonstrated that HabermasÆ substitution of the critique of the gap between the preconditions for reasoned communication and real conditions of distorted communication, by moralizing justification of imperialist elimination of the gap between legality and supposed efficacy of the human rightsÆ defense, conducted to the abandonment of critical theoryÆs constitutive elements
