    Morphologic studies of bone marrow cells exposed to the phospholipid fraction from the liver of irradiated animal, an experiment in vitro

    With the purpose of revealing the biological effects of the X-ray irradiation the authors extracted phospholipids from the liver of irradiated animals and proved that this substance has the action to inhibit the growth of the bone marrow cells, the motility of pseudo-eosinophilis and the erythropoiesis in tissue culture, suggesting that the injury will mainly be induced by the toxic substances produced by irradiation.</p

    With the purpose to study the direct influences of the salivary gland hormone on the hematopoietic function, of bone marrow, especially on the leucocyte series of patients with hypoplastic anemia and Banti's disease by bone-marrow tissue culture (our simple method), the following results were obtained, 1. In the bone marrow tissue of the cases with hypolastic anemia type 1 (type of blood cell arrest in the bone marrow, according to the classification by Prof. Hiraki) by our simple method, the tissue growth and the wanderiug velocity of mature neutrophils were increased as compared with those of the control. On the other hand, no significant difference could be observed as compared with those of the control in type â…¡ (type of maturation arrest) and type V (type of panmyelophtisis). 2. In the patients with Banti's disease, the leucocyte series of bone marrow was accelerated by addition of Parotin as compared with those of control, in cases with relatively normal count of nucleated myelogenous cells. On the other hand, in cases with lower count of nucleated myelogenous cells, no significant effect could be observed in the tissue culture by addition of Parotin

    With the purpose to clarify the influences of salivary gland hormone on the hematopoietic function of bone marrow, especially on the leucoyte series, Parotin was added directly in the medium of bone marrow tissue culture of normal rabbits and normal persons, and following results were obtained. 1. In the bone-marrow tissue culture of normal rabbits by hangingdrop method, the tissue growth, the wandering velocity and carbon-particle phagocytosis of pseudoeosinphils were increased as compared those of the control. 2. In the bone-marrow tissue culture of normal persons by our simple method, the tissue growth, the wandering verocity and carbon-particle phagocytosis of mature neutrophils were increased as compared with those of the control. 3. In the tissue culture added Parotin, the growth and function of leucocyte was accelerated most remarkably at the 6-hour culture

    1. In order to clarify the infinences of the salivary gland hormone on the hematopoietic function of bone marrow, especially on the erythrocyte series, the author studied changes in the erythrocyte count, hemoglobin countent and reticulocyte count in the rabbit fluid medium tissue culture to which Parotin was added directly, and the following results were obtained. As for the influences of Parotin on the erythrocyte count, hemoglobin countent and retieulocyte count in the tissue culture, no significant difference could be observed as compared with the control. 2. When Parotin was added directly to the bone-marrow tissue culture of normal ginea pigs, the megakaryocyte function was accelerated, and likewise in the bone-marrow tissue culture of normal persons, Parotin enhanced the megakaryocyte function
