thesisThis thesis concludes with an analog model which has limitations but provides a solution to the control of cardiac output. This solution is not unique and as a model is used to predict the response to different types of stimulation, changes, will be made. However, a basic model has been presented based on the just described experiments which show that peripheral resistance is a very important factor in controlling cardiac output, both by its effect on the baroreceptor reflex and its direct mechanical effect on stroke volume. At this stage of experimentation the most important role of the model has been to explicitly give numerical values to parameters of the system but to give insight into the type or research that must be carried out to fully describe this control system as well as insight into the possible nature of relationships not yet known
