Defining research

An activity defined as research will attract a particular set of regulatory, ethical and legal responses; however, assigning a clear definition of research is a difficult if not impossible task. The purpose of this article is to explore and emphasise the various aspects of research which allow it to be characterised as a reviewable activity and to stimulate discussion with a view to identifying which class of activities warrants a regulatory response.10 page(s

Research regulation is a timely topic for discussions in bioethics and public health policy. This timely collection explores ethical and legal dilemmas in healthcare arising from globalization.
