Vortices in Spatially Inhomogeneous Superfluids
We study vortices in a radially inhomogeneous superfluid, as realized by a
trapped degenerate Bose gas in a uniaxially symmetric potential. We show that,
in contrast to a homogeneous superfluid, an off-axis vortex corresponds to an
anisotropic superflow whose profile strongly depends on the distance to the
trap axis. One consequence of this superflow anisotropy is vortex precession
about the trap axis in the absence of an imposed rotation. In the complementary
regime of a finite prescribed rotation, we compute the minimum-energy vortex
density, showing that in the rapid-rotation limit it is extremely uniform,
despite a strongly inhomogeneous (nearly) Thomas-Fermi condensate density
. The weak radially-dependent contribution () to the vortex distribution, that vanishes with the
number of vortices as , arises from the interplay between
vortex quantum discretness (namely their inability to faithfully support the
imposed rigid-body rotation) and the inhomogeneous superfluid density. This
leads to an enhancement of the vortex density at the center of a typical
concave trap, a prediction that is in quantitative agreement with recent
experiments (cond-mat/0405240). One striking consequence of the inhomogeneous
vortex distribution is an azimuthally-directed, radially-shearing superflow.Comment: 22 RevTeX pages, 20 figures, Submitted to PR
Comparison of quality of life of patients with local distributed breast cancer forms after chemotherapy in regional and system regimes
For several decades, breast cancer (BC) undoubtedly ranks frst in the structure of oncopathology and is the most common cause of the loss of working capacity of the female population in most countries. Considering the increasing quality of care for patients with breast cancer, there is the need for standardization and implementation of methods to assess not only quantitative but also qualitative component of a comprehensive opinion on the results of therapy. Therefore, an important indicator to be taken into
account is the quality of life (QL) of a patient. Defnition of QL of patients with inoperable forms of locally advanced breast cancer before and after neoadjuvant courses of
systemic polychemotherapy (SPCT) and selective intra-arterial polychemotherapy in combination with systemic (SIAPCT). 154 patients with LA BC T4A-DN0-3M0, who received comprehensive treatment on the basis of the Donetsk regional antitumor center and the University clinic of the Odessa National Medical University during the period from 2000 to 2017, who received SPCT or SIAPCT as a neoadjuvant course, were included in the study. According to the quality of life during the treatment period, wavelike dynamics with a clear advantage of selective intra-arterial polychemotherapy over the system was observed. According to the quality of health between groups, the marginal statistically
signifcant difference in favour of regional PCTs was formed. In a detailed study of each of the options found stable symptomatic scale dependent components of the integral index of quality of life on the severity and duration of intoxication syndrome. On the basis of the results obtained, the statistical advantage of the RMRM remains with the regional PCT. The QL study is a reliable, informative and economical method for assessing the health status of the patient, both at the group and at the individual level. In cancer studies, the evaluation of QL is an important criterion for assessing the effectiveness of treatment and has a prognostic value
Effects of Sequence Disorder on DNA Looping and Cyclization
Effects of sequence disorder on looping and cyclization of the
double-stranded DNA are studied theoretically. Both random intrinsic curvature
and inhomogeneous bending rigidity are found to result in a remarkably wide
distribution of cyclization probabilities. For short DNA segments, the range of
the distribution reaches several orders of magnitude for even completely random
sequences. The ensemble averaged values of the cyclization probability are also
calculated, and the connection to the recent experiments is discussed.Comment: 8 pages, 4 figures, LaTeX; accepted to Physical Review E; v2: a

Study of the effect of the complex of active metabolites of cholecalciferol with vikasol on the state of periodontal tissues of rats
The study of the periodont-protective properties of the complex of a mixture of active metabolites of cholecalciferol – 1,25 (OH)2D3 and 24,25(OH)2D3 with a synthetic analogue of vitamin K – vikasol in experimental periodontitis in rats. The study was carried out on 18 white male rats for 1.5 months age, divided into 3 groups. Group 1 (4 individuals) comprised intact rats. In the rats of the 2nd and 3rd groups (7 individuals each), the parodontitis model was reproduced by oral administration of a 10% solution of pelentane, and also by replacing drinking water with a 2% solution of EDTA ad libitum. In group 3, rats were injected daily with a mixture of hormonal forms of vitamin D3 (1,25 (OH)2D3 and 24,25(OH)2D3) against a background of combined effects of pelentane and EDTA. The duration of the experiment was 60 days. It is established that the complex of a mixture of two hormonal-active forms of cholecalciferol with vikasol has significant periodontoprotective properties. The obtained data substantiate the inclusion of vitamin D3 in the composition of perioodontoprotective agents in the treatment of periodontitis
Quantum corrections to the conductivity and Hall coefficient of a 2D electron gas in a dirty AlGaAs/GaAs/AlGaAs quantum well: transition from diffusive to ballistic regime
We report an experimental study of the quantum corrections to the
longitudinal conductivity and the Hall coefficient of a low mobility, high
density two-dimensional two-dimensional electron gas in a AlGaAs/GaAs/AlGaAs
quantum well in a wide temperature range (1.5 K - 110 K). This temperature
range covers both the diffusive and the ballistic interaction regimes for our
samples. It was therefore possible to study the crossover region for the
longitudinal conductivity and the Hall effect

PILOT : Practical Privacy-Preserving Indoor Localization Using OuTsourcing
In the last decade, we observed a constantly growing number of Location-Based Services (LBSs) used in indoor environments, such as for targeted advertising in shopping malls or finding nearby friends. Although privacy-preserving LBSs were addressed in the literature, there was a lack of attention to the problem of enhancing privacy of indoor localization, i.e., the process of obtaining the users' locations indoors and, thus, a prerequisite for any indoor LBS. In this work we present PILOT, the first practically efficient solution for Privacy-Preserving Indoor Localization (PPIL) that was obtained by a synergy of the research areas indoor localization and applied cryptography. We design, implement, and evaluate protocols for Wi-Fi fingerprint-based PPIL that rely on 4 different distance metrics. To save energy and network bandwidth for the mobile end devices in PPIL, we securely outsource the computations to two non-colluding semi-honest parties. Our solution mixes different secure two-party computation protocols and we design size-and depth-optimized circuits for PPIL. We construct efficient circuit building blocks that are of independent interest: Single Instruction Multiple Data (SIMD) capable oblivious access to an array with low circuit depth and selection of the k-Nearest Neighbors with small circuit size. Additionally, we reduce Received Signal Strength (RSS) values from 8 bits to 4 bits without any significant accuracy reduction. Our most efficient PPIL protocol is 553x faster than that of Li et al. (INFOCOM'14) and 500× faster than that of Ziegeldorf et al. (WiSec'14). Our implementation on commodity hardware has practical run-times of less than 1 second even for the most accurate distance metrics that we consider, and it can process more than half a million PPIL queries per day.Peer reviewe
Liquid Nonlinear Oscillations in the U-Tube System
Dynamics of oscillation processes in a siphon U-tube is studied for the system of connected vessels filled with
homogeneous liquid. The equations and phase paths describing the motion of viscous and non-viscous liquids
are given, oscillation frequencies are considered. Oscillations are nonlinear in general case, but they turn into
linear by setting specific parameter values of the system. Phase portraits are obtained and their dependences
on parameters of the system are analyzedfor both linear and non-linear cases
