Guest Editorial: Methodological Issues in Longitudinal Analyses of Criminal Violence
This editorial introduces the IJCV Focus Section on Methodological Issues in Longitudinal Analyses of Criminal Violence. Longitudinal designs offer distinctive advantages for purposes of making causal inferences with observational data, but significant challenges must be confronted as well. The purpose of this editorial is to highlight some of the more important methodological issues that arise in longitudinal analyses, describe in general terms selected approaches for dealing with them, and indicate ways in which the papers included in this focus section skilfully apply methodological techniques for longitudinal analyses to address substantively important issues pertaining to criminal violence

Unit shapes and a wealth of calculus problems
For a given family of similar shapes, what we call a \unit shape strongly analogizes the role of the unit circle within the family of all circles. Within many such families of similar shapes, we present what we believe is naturally and intrinsically unital about their unit shapes. We present a number of calculus problems related to extremal questions about collections of unit shapes, and we recapitulate some isoperimetric problems in terms of unit shapes. We close by presenting some problems (some of which are open) and by proffering perhaps a new perspective on the pi vs. t debate

Solving an open problem about the G-Drazin partial order
[EN] G-Drazin inverses and the G-Drazin partial order for square matrices have been both recently introduced by Wang and Liu. They proved the following implication: If A is below B under the G-Drazin partial order, then any G-Drazin inverse of B is also a G-Drazin inverse of A. However, this necessary condition could not be stated as a characterization and the validity (or not) of the converse implication was posed as an open problem. In this paper, this problem is completely solved. It is obtained that the converse, in general, is false, and a form to construct counterexamples is provided. It is also proved that the converse holds under an additional condition (which is also necessary) as well as for some special cases of matrices.Partially supported by Universidad Nacional de Río Cuarto (Grant PPI
