Detection of molecular infrared spectra
Total energy distribution measurements of field emitted electrons detect molecular infrared spectra of adsorbed molecules. Tunneling electron gives up energy to excite various modes of adsorbed molecule. These electrons, when energy-analyzed, show up on the collector and exhibit the spectra of various modes excited by tunneling electrons
A comparison of frame synchronization methods
Different methods are considered for frame synchronization of a concatenated block code/Viterbi link. Synchronization after Viterbi decoding, synchronization before Viterbi decoding based on hard-quantized channel symbols are all compared. For each scheme, the probability under certain conditions of true detection of sync within four 10,000 bit frames is tabulated
Frame synchronization for the Galileo code
Results are reported on the performance of the Deep Space Network's frame synchronizer for the (15,1/4) convolutional code after Viterbi decoding. The threshold is found that optimizes the probability of acquiring true sync within four frames using a strategy that requires next frame verification
Effects of quantization on symbol stream combining in a convolutionally coded system
Symbol stream combining has been proposed as a method for arraying signals at different antennas. If the received symbol streams are recorded on tape, it is desirable to limit the required storage without significantly affecting the performance. It is shown that 4-bit quantized symbols introduce an E sub b/N sub o penalty of only 0.05 dB
Data retrieval system provides unlimited hardware design information
Data is input to magnetic tape on a single format card that specifies the system, location, and component, the test point identification number, the operators initial, the date, a data code, and the data itself. This method is efficient for large volume data storage and retrieval, and permits output variations without continuous program modifications
