Chamseddine, Fr\"ohlich, Grandjean Metric and Localized Higgs Coupling on Noncommutative Geometry

We propose a geometrized Higgs mechanism based on the gravitational sector in the Connes-Lott formulation of the standard model, which has been constructed by Chamseddine, Fro¨\ddot{o}hlic and Grandjean. The point of our idea is that Higgs-like couplings depend on the local coordinates of the four-dimensional continuum,M4M_4. The localized couplings can be calculated by the Wilson loops of the U(1)EMU(1)_{EM} gauge field and the connection, which is defined on Z2×M4Z_2\times{M_4}.Comment: 22 pages, LaTeX, corrected typos, minor change

Development of displacement- and frequency-noise-free interferometer in 3-D configuration for gravitational wave detection

    Get PDF
The displacement- and frequency-noise-free interferometer (DFI) is a multiple laser interferometer array for gravitational wave detection free from both the displacement noise of optics and laser frequency noise. So far, partial experimental demonstrations of DFI have been done in 2-D table top experiments. In this paper, we report the complete demonstration of a 3-D DFI. The DFI consists of four Mach-Zehnder interferometers with four mirrors and two beamsplitters. The displacement noises both of mirrors and beamsplitters were suppressed by up to 40 dB. The non-vanishing DFI response to a gravitational wave was successfully confirmed using multiple electro-optic modulators and computing methods

    Deformation of Schild String

We attempt to construct new superstring actions with a DD-plet of Majorana fermions ψAB\psi^{\cal B}_A, where B{\cal B} is the DD dimensional space-time index and AA is the two dimensional spinor index, by deforming the Schild action. As a result, we propose three kinds of actions: the first is invariant under N=1 (the world-sheet) supersymmetry transformation and the area-preserving diffeomorphism. The second contains the Yukawa type interaction. The last possesses some non-locality because of bilinear terms of ψAB\psi^{\cal B}_A. The reasons why completing a Schild type superstring action with ψAB\psi^{\cal B}_A is difficult are finally discussed.Comment: 12 pages, Latex, both title and abstract are changed, discussion of some relations among our results, Nambu-Goto string and super Yang-Mills theories, added. B -> X_s l+ l- in the vectorlike quark model

We extend the standard model by adding an extra generation of isosinglet up- and down-type quark pair which engage in weak interactions only via mixing with the three ordinary quark families. It is shown that the generalized 4×44\times 4 quark mixing matrix, which is necessarily nonunitary, leads to nonvanishing flavor changing neutral currents. We then proceed to investigate various distributions and total branching ratio of the inclusive B -> X_s l+ l- (l =e,\mu) rare B decays in the context of this model. It is shown that the shapes of the differential branching ratio and forward-backward asymmetry distribution are very sensitive to the value of the model parameters which are constrained by the experimental upper bound on BR(B -> X_s \mu^+ \mu^-). We also indicate that, for certain values of the dileptonic invariant mass, CP asymmetries up to 10% can be obtained.Comment: 10 pages, 5 figures, Talk given at 23rd Annual MRST (Montreal-Rochester-Syracuse-Toronto) Conference on High Energy Physics (MRST 2001), London, Ontario, Canada, 16-18 May 200
