The study identified physical education students’ opinions about and vision of personal career. It was conducted with a questionnaire designed by A. Cybal-Michalska for planning career prospects and career development in modern society by academic youth. Results demonstrate the professional expectations of the sample to be largely met. Students of the University School of Physical Education in Wroclaw are oriented towards individualistic and collectivistic values to a similar extent. Both groups are moderately satisfied with study choices and have a realistic outlook on the difficulties in finding a job consistent withtheir education. They assess the prospect of a satisfactory career on an equally moderate level, although individualist-oriented students perceive significantly fewer ways of achieving professional success. Collectivistic students emphasize values characteristic of a safe future and working with people and for people. Individualistic students are geared towards innovative and creative activities. Students perceive their careers in the psychological dimension, and select lifestyle and professionalism as the lead guides in career development.Starościak Wojciech, Dębska Urszula, Guła-Kubiszewska Halina, Designing professional career by students – physical education teachers. „Kultura – Społeczeństwo – Edukacja” nr 2(14) 2018, Poznań 2018, pp. 183–203, Adam Mickiewicz University Press. Physical activity of students in the era of globalization
Purpose. The analysis of physical activity of the contemporary students. Do the students with mostly reported health problems engage in any forms of activity at all? Is the presence of health problems a factor differentiating the level of physical activity of the researched students? Methods. Survey, International Physical Activity Questionnaire IPAQ (short).1153 male students (n=538) and female students (n=615) were tested: (Wroclaw University School of Physical Education) (n=953) and University of Wroclaw (n=200).Results. The tested men declared higher than women levels of physical activity: (t-Student 4,41; p 0.00). The AWF students declare a significantly higher level of physical activity than the University students (t-Student 7,52; p 0.00; 12,81; p 0.00; 10,79; p 0.00). The subjects involved in training declare a significantly higher level of physical activity (t-Student 7.09; p 0.00; 13,24; p 0.00; 11,22; p 0.00). Among the respondents’ reported pain complaints headaches differentiate the respondents as regards the declared level of physical activity of high and moderate intensity (n=237).Conclusions. Physical education students undertake physical activity on a high and moderate level more often than students of other pedagogical sciences. The main differentiate factors: sex, specialist education profile and sports activity. A larger proportion of the AWF subjects reports problems connected with the lumbar spine pains whereas the university students mainly complain of headaches. The female university students reporting headaches less frequently undertake physical activity on a high and moderate level
Self-assessment of health and physical fitness by young adults practising sport
Introduction: Practising sport and engaging in physical activity at a young age is meant to increase the level of a person’s physical fitness and health. Yet, the generation of 20-year-olds – former and active sportspersons – assess their general physical fitness and health as worse than good. Therefore, does practising sport, in the self-assessment of young persons, really improve one’s health and physical fitness?Purpose: The purpose of this research was to diagnose the subjective assessment of fitness and a sense of health among young adults practising sport as well as former sportspersons in comparison with the self-assessment of non-training persons.Materials and methodology: 1153 adult persons aged 19-28 were surveyed. Those persons were supposed to perform a self-assessment of their health and physical fitness and report the pain disorders that they experienced. The group surveyed included 484 ex-sportspersons, 450 active sportspersons and 212 persons who had never practised sport. The survey used a 1-5 assessment scale. Results: The survey participants assessed their general physical fitness level at 3.82 ±1.00 and their health level at 3.88 ±1.10. In comparison with the other groups the sportspersons gave their fitness a better mark despite the largest number of pain disorders experienced. The result of health self-assessment did not differ among the groups. Sportspersons and ex-sportspersons indicated injuries and the pain felt, especially in the cervical and thoracic spine, the hips and the head, and complained more frequently about shortness of breath. Conclusions:Practising sport at a young age does not significantly alter the self-assessment of health among young persons. An average sportsperson experiences at least one pain disorder that correlates with a lower sense of good health. The highest frequency of associated pain disorders is observed in sportspersons, with the pain being located mainly in the area of the cervical and thoracic spine and the hips. The frequency of pain in the lower limbs is inversely proportional to one’s overall training period
Health behaviour of Young Adults in a Globalizing World
Purpose: The aim was to diagnose health behaviours in order to predict and plan possible interventions. Methods: Survey, IZZ questionnaire.Material: 1154 students of the University of Physical Education,WrocławUniversity in the years 2015-2016.Results: Gender differences: young men significantly more often declared using non-conventional medicine (the Mann–Whitney U test 3.00; p=.002), but they used stimulants less often than young women (the Mann–Whitney U test 2.51; p=.01). Regular University students – men significantly more often declared care for their mental health (4.196; p=.000), eating habits (3.03; p=.002) then women. Students of the University of Physical Education declared undertaking significantly more activities promoting health with regard to diet (3.94; p=.000), medical behaviour (3.46; p=.000); mental health (3.26; p=.001), non-conventional medicine (2.54; p=.01); stimulants (2.31; p=.02). Among the respondents who did regular exercise, the students of the University significantly more often declared using proper diet (3.46; p=.000), care for their mental health (4.42; p=.000); whereas the students of the University of Physical Education declared taking up active leisure (4.20; p=.000) and eating proper diet (2.46; p=.01)

Health behaviour in early and late adulthood – educational and behavioural aspectsNumerous transformations occurring in contemporary world concern also health and related behaviour. Increasing adaptive and preventive activities of individuals are becoming essential. New educational curricula introduce issues related to health, behaviour and healthy life styles. The research problem presented in the article concerns health behaviour of people in early (390 respondents) and late adulthood (117 respondents). The respondents were students of the Academy of Physical Education or pedagogy, and a fraction of elderly people consisted of students of the University of the Third Age (numbering 63). Our research aimed to compare prohealth activity among the respondents in order to answer the following questions: what the extent of their health activity is and whether health education is refl ected in behaviour. G. Dolińska’s Health Behaviour Survey and Inventory was employed. The research conducted confirmed the existence of significant differences among the respondents. The differences include both the intensity of behaviour and a predominance of certain types. The respondents exhibit an average level of health behaviour, although its increased intensity has been observed in late adulthood, especially among the students of the University of the Third Age. Also the students of health education yielded higher results than the remaining early adults

Studies on selfregulation in learningWe reflect on the selfregulation as a value for today, to emphasise its importance in the functioning of the people and selfactivity in the selfregulational process. The value of the selfregulation helps in the development and cognition, makes this process more successful. We based on the cognitive theory of learning process: activity of a person regulates her process of learning, using some deep and surface strategy and technique - individual schema of strategic activity. In this context we search selfregulation level in students of the Pedagogy (119 subjects) and Physical Education in Wrocław (360 subjects) and Opole (254 subjects). We indirectly conclude about the value the selfregulation has for students. We observed some differences among students with more experience in learning. The students of Pedagogy used more and much differently, deeper strategy as students of the Physical Education and PO
Perceived physical activity during stay-at-home COVID-19 pandemic lockdown March–April 2020 in Polish adults
Background Lockdowns amid the COVID-19 pandemic drastically reduced the possibility of undertaking physical activity (PA) in gyms, swimming pools, or work-related PA, e.g., active commuting. However, the stay-at-home order could have reduced PA the most, i.e., the ban of unnecessary outdoor activities. It affected free walking, running, skiing, active tourism, etc. It is, therefore, crucial to estimate how the stay-at-home order affected PA. We estimated how the stay-at-home order affected perceived PA and sedentary behavior compared to the pre-pandemic time in Poland. Methods We used a self-reported International Physical Activity Questionnaire—Long Form (IPAQ-LF) to estimate the time (minutes per day) of vigorous and moderate PA and walking and sitting time. Results We gathered data from 320 Polish participants. Bayesian approaches, including t-test and Bayesian correlations, were used to find differences and correlations between PA before and during the stay-at-home lockdown. Our data supported the hypotheses that vigorous PA, as well as walking, declined during the lockdown. Surprisingly, our data did not support the hypothesis that moderate physical activity was reduced. We found that moderate PA during lockdown increased compared to the pre-lockdown PA. As hypothesized, our data strongly evinced that sitting time inclined during the lockdown. PA decline was not correlated with the available living space. People who had access to gardens did not demonstrate a higher PA level than those without. Discussion Walking and sitting time have drastically changed during the stay-at-home lockdown, decreasing and increasing, respectively. Given results from studies focusing on lockdowns without the stay-at-home restriction, it may be assumed that letting people go outside is crucial in keeping them more active and less sedentary. Authorities should take into account the effect the stay-at-home order may have on PA and sedentary behavior and as a result, on health. Stay-at-home orders should be the last considered restriction, given its detrimental consequences
Model postawy twórczej w działaniu to osoba o postawie nonkonformistycznej i zachowaniach heurystycznych. Postawa odtwórcza charakteryzuje się zachowaniem algorytmicznym i postawą konformistyczną.
Cel: Celem podjętych badań było rozpoznanie ogólnych uzdolnień do zachowań twórczych nauczycieli wychowania fizycznego pracujących w szkole ponadgimnazjalnej.
Materiał i metody: Badania przeprowadzono w roku szkolnym 2013/2014 wśród nauczycieli wychowania fizycznego pracujących w szkołach ponadgimnazjalnych. Wzięło w nich udział 89 nauczycieli w tym 52 kobiety i 37 mężczyzn. Do zebrania wyników zastosowano metodę sondażu diagnostycznego, wykorzystując technikę ankietową. Jako narzędzie badawcze zastosowano wystandaryzowany Kwestionariusz Twórczego Zachowania KAHN-II, wersja dla nauczycieli „Mój idealny uczeń – student”.
Wyniki i wnioski: Na tle niezadowalających wyników badań nad kompetencjami kreatywnymi nauczycieli wychowania fizycznego zasadnym wydaje się uświadomienie nauczycielom ich potencjału do zachowań twórczych oraz stworzenie im warunków do efektywnego wykorzystania dyspozycji cech w poszczególnych wymiarach własnej postawy twórczej w działaniu.Introduction: It is possible to treat the competences of creative teachers of physical education as original activities or innovative activities – pedagogical innovation and creation. Researchers of creative personalities indicate a rich mosaic of features which have an effect on the creative attitude of a person. Such is represented by an individual with nonconformity and heuristic behaviour. The attitude towards nonproductive activity is characterized by algorithmic behaviour and conformist attitude.
Objective: The aim of this study was to recognize the general creative potential among teachers of physical education working in secondary schools.
Materials and methods: A survey was carried out in the school year 2013 / 2014 among teachers of physical education. 89 teachers including 52 woman and 37 men participated in the survey. Data collection was performed on the basis of diagnostic survey using questionnaires. A research tool used in the survey was the normative Creative Questionnaire Subscales for the KAHN-II behaviour, version for teachers ‘My ideal pupil – student’.
Results and conclusions: Taking into consideration the unsatisfactory research results, it should be essential to make physical education teachers aware of their creative potential as well as the creative conditions which enable them to use their potential personally and efficiently
