    Consecutive Prime and Highly Total Prime Labeling in Graphs

    This paper examines the graph-theoretical concepts of consecutive prime labeling and highly total prime labeling. These are variations on prime labeling, introduced by Tout, Dabboucy, and Howalla in 1982. Consecutive prime labeling is defined here for the first time. Consecutive prime labeling requires that the labels of vertices in a graph be relatively prime to the labels of all adjacent vertices as well as all incident edges. We show that all paths, cycles, stars, and complete graphs have a consecutive prime labeling and conjecture that all simple connected graphs have a consecutive prime labeling. This paper also expands on work introduced by Ramasubramanian and Kala on total prime graphs in 2012 and Gnanajothi and Suganya on highly total prime graphs in 2016. We extend previous results by showing that no wheel graph or hypercube graph has a highly total prime labeling. We also show that no star graph with 8 or more vertices has a highly total prime labeling. In addition, we introduce millipede graphs, a new subfamily of caterpillar graphs, and show that certain millipede graphs do not have a highly total prime labeling

    Evaluation of two prototype three phase photovoltaic water pumping systems

    Bibliography: p. 221-223.Two prototype three phase AC photovoltaic pump systems (Solvo, ML T) and a DC PV pump (Miltek) were tested on a farm borehole in Namibia (latitude 21°6', longitude 17°6'). The PV array consisted of twelve modules (636Wpeak) mounted on a single-axis passive tracker. The depth of the water was 75m and a progressive cavity pump with a self-compensating stator was used in all the tests. Customised data acquisition was designed to measure performance characteristics through a range of operating conditions (mainly steady state); a secondary data acquisition system was used to capture samples of high frequency signals. The data allowed detailed analysis of system, subsystem and component performance, as well as performance evaluation over Standard Solar Days. The focus of the investigation was evaluation of the AC prototypes, in terms of performance, other technical factors, reliability and economic criteria. The analog-based DC system served as a basis for comparison. Both AC systems employed microprocessor control and PWM variable-frequency variable-voltage inversion. Efficiencies, optimality, stability, start-up behaviour, non-productive operating modes and protection were examined. A number of recommendations were proposed for improvements in the basic control algorithms, monitoring and managing non-productive modes, improved protection, layout and user diagnostic features

    The History Of The Social And Economic Importance Of Second Avenue And The Core Area Of Fairbanks, Alaska

The fifty years of the core-area's roller coaster economy was a mirror reflection of the city, as a whole. The infamous Second Avenue, also known as "Two Street," held a key to social reform and economic growth. This thesis explored the issues surrounding the social infrastructure of the "core-area" and how that infrastructure affected the economy of downtown Fairbanks. In addition to the social and cultural phenomena, the political influences and their effect on the core-area's economic and social development was discussed. The government played a pivotal role in the economic direction of the downtown business district. The conclusion of this thesis showed that the core-area of Fairbanks no longer enjoyed the status of the economic mainstay of the Fairbanks economy. However, this area was held as a historical business district and social gathering place for many Fairbanks events. <p

    Association Between Vitamin D Intake and Obesity During Pre- and Early Adolescence

    Background: Prevalence of obesity in US children has increased substantially. The influence of vitamin D intake on body mass index (BMI) is yet to be clearly defined. Results are mixed regarding the relationship of vitamin D deficiency with obesity in children. The objective of this study was to examine the association between vitamin D intake and BMI over a 6 month period in pre-to early adolescent children in Pittsburgh, PA. Methods: Secondary analysis was done on 256 healthy 6-14 year old (54% male) Caucasian and African American (70%) children from Pittsburgh, PA. Participants completed a food frequency questionnaire (FFQ) and a Sun Exposure Questionnaire (SEQ) and provided anthropometric measures at 2 time points 6 months apart. Vitamin D intake was compared by BMI status (normal = \u3c85th percentile, overweight = 85th to 95th percentile, obese = \u3e95th percentile) as well as by change in BMI over 6 months. Statistical analysis included descriptive statistics, Kruskal-Wallis analysis of variance, Spearman’s correlation, Chi Square test, and regression analysis (vitamin D intake, gender, race, baseline BMI, total energy intake, sun exposure and sunscreen use). Results: Median reported vitamin D intake was 245.85 IU at baseline and 382.51 IU at 6 month follow up. After subdividing children by BMI, at baseline the obese group reported lowest median intake (188 IU) and at 6 month follow up the normal group reported lowest median intake (374 IU) (P=0.03). Overall relation between vitamin D intake and BMI was significant (P=0.033) but weak (r=-0.015). Regression analysis revealed only baseline BMI status (P=\u3c0.001) as a predictor of 6 month follow up BMI. No relation was observed between change in BMI and vitamin D intake. Conclusion: The results of this study do not support a strong relationship between vitamin D intake and change in BMI status over a 6 month time period

    Analysis of the Phosphorylation Status of Epstein–Barr Virus LMP2A in Epithelial Cells

    LMP2A deletion and point mutants, with mutations in phosphotyrosine-containing protein-protein interaction motifs, were transiently expressed in 293 cells and their phosphorylation was examined in immune complex kinase assays as well as in vivo. In vitro LMP2A phosphorylation depended on tyrosine 112. In vivo, mutations of single tyrosines did not eliminate LMP2 phosphorylation, although mutation of the LMP2A ITAM decreased LMP2A phosphorylation. The relationship between LMP2A in vitro phosphorylation and that induced by cell-extracellular matrix (ECM) interactions was also investigated. While LMP2A was phosphorylated to higher levels in whole-cell extracts of stimulated cells, a difference in in vitro kinase assays with extracts from stimulated and unstimulated cells was not detected, indicating that the ECM-mediated regulation of LMP2A phosphorylation is lost in vitro. In the presence of LMP2A, several cellular proteins with molecular weights between 70 and 80 kDa were phosphorylated on tyrosine. This increase in cellular protein phosphorylation depended on the LMP2A ITAM motif and suggests that the ITAM may participate in signal-transduction events in epithelial cells
