IMPROVEMENT OF THE USE-VALUE OF POLYESTER-BASED FABRICS
The tendency to staining and the ability for stain retentivity of polyester fabrics can be
decreased by basic treatment and tenside modification. The inflammability and risk of accidence
of these textiles can also be reduced. This characteristic is also reflected in the rate of burning
MECHANISM OF CATIONIC LACTAM POLYMERIZATION
The authors suggested a new mechanism for the interpretation of cationic lactam
polymerization according to which in the chain propagation reaction. through the appropriate
intermediates. compounds belonging to various polymer homologous series are formed and
additional polymerization processes are superimposed onto the original ones. On the basis of the
new mechanism a kinetic model has been developed by the computer simulation of which rate
and equilibrium constants could be determined. The latter enabled. a good quantitative
description of polymerization
CHEMICAL MODIFICATION OF CELLULOSE
Thermolytic degradation of cellulose is dependant on its initial DP, accessibility and on
the method and temperature of the treatment. A limiting DP could be detected in the
depolymerizing reaction. The deteriorating action of aggressive water could be demonstrated.
Quantitative correlation was elaborated concerning the role of accessibility in the reaction
between cellulose and reactive dyestuffs. The role of temperature was cleared up in the
ceIlulose-caustic soda interaction. New bleaching process was elaborated with the use of singlet
oxygen. Physical characteristics, amount of releasable formaldehyde and colouristic influence of
resin finishing of cotton could be optimized
