    EXERESE DE METASTASES PULMONAIRES

    No full text
The authors report on a personal series of 27 patients with pulmonary metastases; 17 were operated. 986 operated cases from the literature are also analyzed yielding the following notions. Where the primary tumor is controlled at the time of metastatic resection, when there is no systemic or mediastinal dissemination, and when the growth of metastases was slow, these secondary resections of lung metastases were followed by a 16 to 63% 5 yr survival rate. The authors conclude that it is necessary to evaluate the hypothesis that 5 to 10% of operated cancers present a second operative indication for cure, namely, slow growing metastases limited to the lungs.SCOPUS: NotDefined.jinfo:eu-repo/semantics/publishe

Training in surgery: our constructive propositions.

    No full text
Several suggestions are presented in order to achieve or to maintain a level of excellence in surgical training, i.e. 1. Interuniversity theoretical teaching; 2. National evaluation; 3. Effective limitation of the number of residents; 4. Residents must be represented in critical organs; 5. A yearly evaluation of the quality of training. These requirements are fulfilled in the USA and Canada.SCOPUS: ar.jinfo:eu-repo/semantics/publishe

QUATRE CAS D'HEMORRAGIES APRES REPARATION CHIRURGICALE DE STENOSE TRACHEALE IATROGENE

    No full text
In the authors' series of 23 patients, operated on 27 times, for an iatrogenic stenosis of the trachea, there were 4 deaths by hemorrhage of the innominate artery. Three resulted from shearing of the artery by the tracheal sutures. One came from erosion by a tracheostomy cannula. This fatal complication should be prevented by preserving healthy tissues between the artery and the trachea.SCOPUS: NotDefined.jinfo:eu-repo/semantics/publishe
