The Revival of Local Fairy Tales for Children Education

This study explored the function of fairy tales as a means of entertainment and education for children. Fairy tales in children's literature have gradually shifted from an oral storytelling tradition to a mass media product. The role of the mother as the first and foremost teacher of her children is increasingly challenged in modern education. From pre-school age up to junior high school level, a child needs special attention from his or her parents, especially the mother. From the age of three until a child enters primary school, the parents, especially the mother, play a strategic role in fostering various aspects of development language, psychology and character. One way in which this takes place is through storytelling, however unfortunately children's literature in the form of local fairy tales often no longer has a place in the home or the kindergarten. This case study in South Sulawesi, Indonesia explored the causes behind this change. Data were gathered through interviews and questionnaires. A simple statistical method was used to analyse the data. The results show that telling fairy tales to children is still relevant and can help to instil character values in young children

Peran pendamping Program Keluarga Harapan (PKH) dalam pengentasan kemiskinan : studi di Desa Wonoharjo Kecamatan Rowokele Kabupaten Kebumen

Penelitian in berjudul Peran Pendamping Program Keluarga Harapan (PKH) dalam Pengentasan Kemiskinan (Studi di Desa Wonoharjo Kecamatan Rowokele Kabupaten Kebumen). program Keluarga Hrapan (PKH) yang dilaksanakandan diberikan pemerintah adalah guna membantu masyarakat miskin, program ini di bentuk pada tahun 2007 yang diahkan oleh Presiden ke-6 Bapak Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono. Program Keluarga Harapan (PKH) sendiri dibawah naungan Kementerian Sosial saat ini. Program Keluarga Harapan (PKH) dibentuk guna untuk membantu pemerintah dalam pemutusan rantai kemiskinan yang ada di Indonesia. Para pendamping PKH yang tugasnya adalah melaksanakan pendampingan terhadapa Keluarga Penerima Manfaat (KPM) dalam hal pencairan dana bantuan, sebagai motivator dalam mengubah pola pikir masyarakat untuk keluar dari kemiskinan. Permasalahan dalam penelitian ini adalah : 1. Bagaimana Peran Pendamping PKH dalam Program Pengentasan Kemiskinan di Desa Wonoharjo Kecamatan Rowokele Kabupaten Kebumen? 2. Bagaimana Hasil Peran Pendamping PKH dalam Program Pengentasan Kemiskinan di Desa Wonoharjo Kecamatan Rowokele Kabupaten Kebumen?.Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian penulis menggunakan jenis penelitian kualitatif dengan pendekatan deskriptif. Informasi yang didapat dari penelitian ini memerlukan beberapa metode pengumpulan data, yaitu dengan observasi, wawancara dan domentasi yang dilanjutkan menggunakan reduksi data, penyajian dan emudian verivikasi data.Hasil penelitian menunjukan, peran pendamping Program Keluarga Harapan (PKH) dalam pengentasan kemiskinan di Desa Wonoharjo Kecamatan Rowokele Kabupaten Kebumen, yaitu : Peran sebagai fasilitator, agen sosial, motivator, peran edukasi, pendamping masyarakat(distibusi dana bantuan). Hasil dari peranan ini memutuskan rantai kemikinan diDesa Wonoharjo Kecamatan Rowokele Kabupaten Kebumen

THE ANALYSIS ON RACISM IN 12 YEARS A SLAVE MOVIE

This study discusses a practice of racism carried out by the upper class to the lower class. Racism is behavioral differences and inequalities based on a person's skin color, race, ethnicity, and origin that limit or violate a person's rights and freedoms. Racism is often interpreted as the view that humans can be divided into separate groups based on biological characteristics called "race". The aims of this research are 1) to reveal the practice of racism by the upper class to the lower class., and 2) to show the form of social discrimination due to the practice of racism in the United stated on 19th century. This study uses Goldman's Genetic Structuralism to analyze the film 12 Years a Slave. This analysis produces two forms of racism, namely verbal and non-verbal forms. This form of racism takes place continuously and is maintained by social classes in society

STRATEGI KOMUNIKASI ALIH KODE DALAM INTERAKSI KARAKTER DRAMA TV: KASUS KHUSUS GOJI KARA KUJI MADE KARYA MIKI AIHARA

 This research discusses the English code-switching that occurs in the drama Goji Kara Kuji Made, which is the source of the research data. This research aims to: 1) explain the code-switching that occurs in the television drama Goji Kara Kuji Made, and 2) describe the factors that cause code-switching and the function of code-switching that appears in the television drama Goji Kara Kuji Made. This study used the descriptive-qualitative method. The theoretical framework referred to is based on the theory developed by Holmes (2008). Based on the results of the analysis, it is known that the factors causing code-switching are background, topic, the purpose of the interaction, and lexical borrowing. Meanwhile, the functions found in this research are solidarity, group membership, creating distance, quotation marks, emphasizing certain messages, affective functions, and filling lexical needs

Patriotism Values as Portrayed in Selected Poetry of Tennyson's Ulysses and Kaimuddin's Bula Malino : A Comparative Study

Culture and literature differences raising birth of the uniqueness in every country that enriches the lives of the world community, including Butonese and English. This study aimed to compare patriotism values between the Selected Poetry of Tennyson‘s "Ulysses" and Kaimuddin‘s "Bula Malino" by using Comparative Study. This study identifies similarities and differences in the patriotism values implied in both of the poems. Through the Comparative French School Human Models and Heroes, this study analyzed the characterizations from both of the poems which possessed patriotism although the scope is differ. The concept of patriotism in Ulysses is related to the patriotic, loyalty, affectionate, sportsmanship, and heroism of a king, named Ulysses, to his kingdom, people, family, and his hobby. Whereas in Bula Malino, patriotism is shown by loyalty, affectionate, patriotic, and sportsmanship of Sultan MIK as the main character to his religious teachings

TRADITIONAL TASTE: EXPLORING THE CULINARY DIVERSITY OF BUGIS CUISINE IN BARRU FROM A CULTURAL PERSPECTIVE

Abstrak This study aims to analyze the influence of natural environment and culture on Bugis cuisine in Barru. This study uses a descriptive qualitative approach with in-depth interviews with informants who were selected by purposive sampling. The results of the study showed that natural environment and culture have a significant influence on Bugis cuisine in Barru. The natural environment in the form of the sea and mountains becomes the main source of raw materials in Bugis cuisine. Meanwhile, the Bugis culture that values nature and life is the basis of the philosophy in Bugis cuisine. Barru's natural and cultural environment have a big impact on its Bugis cuisine. The cuisine along the seashore is dominated by natural ingredients from marine products that can only be obtained by fishers employing specific fishing techniques. The lowland environment is characterized by a predominance of pastries and other sweet and savory foods that are inspired by trade and travel culture. The highland Bugis kitchen, on the other hand, is more recognizable and modern. The degree to which the culinary practice resembles the process to which it pertains indicates the depth of belief in legendary entities

Mother Behavior to Their Daughters As Seen in ''Pride and Prejudice" and "Little Women"

This research is to study about the mother behavior to their daughters as seen in "Pride and Prejudice" and "Little Women". The mother behavior to their daughters show the different way of women as a mother in bringing up their children according to their social and condition at the time. The data were taken from two novels entitled "pride and prejudice" and "little women" is the topic of the study. The  women held in the early 19th century and the late 19th century was described as one that belonged in the home as a wife and mother, and that should marry a man who can support their family. Also throughout the novel women's role in society was described as one that is to be accomplished in household  chore and those of entertainment, such as singing  and playing music. The role of women in society was a major theme throughout the novel "Pride and Prejudice" and "Little Women" The method used in this research  is a study of comparative literature to analyze mother behavior especially for Mrs. Bennet, Lady Catherine de Bourgh, These women have similarities and different behavior in find the right mate for their daughters. This study shows that every woman has characteristics in caring for their children and paying attention to the survival of their children
