Undermined Determinant of a College’s Success: Health & Wellness of a College Employe

    Get PDF
Our society has taken college employees' health and wellbeing for granted and has not recognized that many of the economic, intellectual and artistic accomplishments in American life are in large part due to the invaluable contributions of college employees. The health and wellbeing of college employees is an underappreciated area of intervention for worksite health promotion. In comparison to the corporate world, service industries and the manufacturing industries, the wellness of college employees is often at the bottom of the priority list for the health and wellness of the workforce in the United States. This commentary calls for an increased involvement of health educators in college employee health and wellness promotion programs, wellness initiatives, policy changes and research

A Survey Disease Detection Mechanism for Cotton Leaf: Training & Precaution Based Approach

    Get PDF
The large number of people depends on cotton crop. The recognition of cotton leaf disease are of the major important as they have a cogent and momentous impact on quality and production of cotton. Cotton disease identification is an art and science. The start with collecting the images. We will consider two diseases they are Foliar, and Alternaria of cotton leaves. We have extracted the features and compare those features with the features that are extracted from the input test image they can like grayscaling, thresholding, cropping for detecting the boundary of image. Colour feature like HSV features are extracted from the output of segmentation and (ANN) Artificial neural network is trained by choosing the feature value that could distinguish the healthy and disease sample. Experimental result showed that classification performance by ANN taking feature set is better with an accuracy of 80%. The present work proposes a methodology for detecting cotton leaf disease early, using image processing techniques and artificial neural network (ANN). We are also work with the current and future precaution for the cotton tree to protects it from future disease & maintain it to improve its good production as well as life

Structure Soil Structure Interaction Effects: Seismic Analysis of Safety Related Collocated Concrete Structures

    Get PDF
The Process, Purification and Stack Buildings are collocated safety related concrete shear wall structures with plan dimensions in excess of 100 feet. An important aspect of their seismic analysis was the determination of structure soil structure interaction (SSSI) effects, if any. The SSSI analysis of the Process Building, with one other building at a time, was performed with the SASSI computer code for up to 50 frequencies. Each combined model had about 1500 interaction nodes. Results of the SSSI analysis were compared with those from soil structure interaction (SSI) analysis of the individual buildings, done with ABAQUS and SASSI codes, for three parameters: peak, accelerations, seismic forces and the in-structure floor response spectra (FRS). The results may be of wider interest due to the model size and the potential applicability to other deep soil layered sites. Results obtained from the ABAQUS analysis were consistently higher, as expected, than those from the SSI and SSSI analyses using the SASSI. The SSSI effect between the Process and Purification Buildings was not significant. The Process and Stack Building results demonstrated that under certain conditions a massive structure can have an observable effect on the seismic response of a smaller and less stiff structure

Simultaneous bilateral posterior fracture dislocation of the shoulders in a young man with unexpected severe vitamin D deficiency

Simultaneous bilateral posterior fracture dislocation of the shoulders is a rare clinical presentation. There are three main etiologies described in the literature. Given that it presents with relatively uncharacteristic symptoms, in many cases it is diagnosed late. We present the case of a man who was admitted with bilateral posterior fracture dislocation of the shoulders following a seizure. Investigations revealed severe vitamin D deficiency as the principal contributory factor to his injury. This is an important association because failure to recognize and treat this can result in significant morbidity in susceptible groups
