Protection of intellectual property rights an Indian perspective
The objective of this paper is to provide an overview of the Indian Innovation System, IPR system and other related activities such as Judicial System, Enforcement System, and Academic Institutions etc. The paper is based on the existing data and relates those data and results to the India’s Intellectual Property Rights System, Innovation, Research and Development. This paper focus on the recent reforms in IPR laws to achieve a legal framework for protecting IPR that is comparable to that of most developed nations. As a part Information Technology, three major IT organizations focus on innovation and research discussed in addition to an overview about major multinational companies’ research initiatives in India
Construction of Control Charts Based On Six Sigma Initiatives for the Number of Defects and Average Number of Defects per Unit
A control chart is a statistical device used for the study and control of a repetitive process. In 1931, Shewart suggested control charts based on 3 sigma limits. Today manufacturing companies around the world apply Six Sigma initiatives, with a result offewer product defects. Companies practicing Six Sigma initiatives are expected to produce 3.4 or less number of defects per million opportunities, a concept suggested by Motorola in 1980. If companies practicing Six Sigma initiatives use control limits suggested by Shewhart, then no points will fall outside the control limits due to the improvement in the quality of the process. ASix Sigma based control chart is constructed for the number of defects and average number of defects per unit. Tables are providedto aid engineers in decision making
Boundary conditions and Berry phase in magnetic nanostructures
The effect of micromagnetic boundary conditions on the Berry curvature and topological Hall effect in granular nanostructures is investi- gated by model calculations. Both free surfaces and grain boundaries between interacting particles or grains affect the spin structure. The Dzyaloshinskii-Moriya interactions yield corrections to the Erdmann-Weierstrass boundary conditions, but the Berry curvature remains an exclusive functional of the local spin structure, which greatly simplifies the treatment of nanostructures. An explicit example is a model nanostructure with cylindrical symmetry whose spin structure is described by Bessel function and which yields a mean-field-type Hall-effect contribution that can be related to magnetic-force-microscopy images
Tracked Vehicle Performance Evaluation using Multi Body Dynamics
The objective of the study was to shorten the design cycle and evaluate the performance of infantry fighting vehicle using advanced multi body dynamics (MBD) environment before physical prototypes built. The MBD model is built with tracked vehicle module consisting of tracks (Links), sprocket, Support rollers, and hydro pneumatic suspension with suitable connections. Hull, turret are characterised by mass and inertial properties. The dynamic analysis was carried out for different field conditions i.e. trench crossing, step and ramp climbing, etc., to extract the hull forces at joints, power required to manuever, track tension forces to determine overall vehicle stability and look for possible design modifications. Recommendations were then suggested for power train, number of track segments, tensioner force, etc to ensure proper behavior during different manuevers. The MBD results are used in FEA to determine structural response in terms of stress, deformation, fatigue etc., and reflects in design modification before physical prototype made and are validated with base level analytical results
A novel power optimized hybrid renewable energy system using neural computing and bee algorithm
With rapid depletion of non-renewable energy resources or the fossil fuels like coal, petroleum etc., there has been a significant shift in innovations towards exploiting and tapping of energy from renewable energy resources like sun, bio gas, wind etc., E Off late, there has been an increased research towards combined or hybrid integrated energy generation systems based on renewable resources like sun-wind, sun-biogas etc., These hybrid systems effectively address the past demerits observed in standalone systems which could provide substantial power only during specific periods and seasons. For example, solar power would be much reduced during the night time. Hence hybrid systems effectively counteract this issue as the lack of stability in one system is well compensated by the other. This research paper proposes an optimized hybrid PV-wind power generation system with optimization towards maximization of power generated from the system with the help of neural architecture and bee colony algorithm. The proposed system has been implemented and tested for a wide range of solar irradiances and wind velocities and maximum and stable power generation has been observed when compared to existing techniques
An Improved Differential Evolution Based Dynamic Economic Dispatch with Nonsmooth Fuel Cost Function
Dynamic economic dispatch (DED) is one of the major operational decisions in electric power systems. DED problem is an optimization problem with an objective to determine the optimal combination of power outputs for all generating units over a certain period of time in order to minimize the total fuel cost while satisfying dynamic operational constraints and load demand in each interval. This paper presents an improved differential evolution (IDE) method to solve the DED problem of generating units considering valve-point effects. Heuristic crossover technique and gene swap operator are introduced in the proposed approach to improve the convergence characteristic of the differential evolution (DE) algorithm. To illustrate the effectiveness of the proposed approach, two test systems consisting of five and ten generating units have been considered. The results obtained through the proposed method are compared with those reported in the literature
Comparative Analysis of Various Z-source Based Five Level Cascaded H-bridge Multilevel Inverter
Z-source based multilevel inverters are the recent topologies as they have boosting ability and near sinusoidal output waveforms. This paper proposes different inverter topologies such as Z-source multilevel inverter and quasi Z-source multilevel inverter. This paper also deals with switched inductor and improved switched inductor topologies with quasi Z-network. The proposed switched inductor system reduces the voltage stresses caused by capacitors, power devices and diodes. In addition to multilevel inverter advantages, the proposed configuration employs Z-source inverter advantages. The Z-source inverter as compared to the traditional inverter is less costly, less complex, more efficient and more reliable. The performance of the proposed configurations is analysed by varying passive elements in impedance network and is simulated in MATLAB/SIMULINK. Phase disposition (PD) pulse width modulation (PWM) technique is applied on the proposed configurations and performance parameters are measured by the fast Fourier transform FFT analysis. The object of this paper is to develop an inverter which is used for variable speed drives with increase in output voltage by eliminating transformer and filter circuit. The performance is checked with standared parameter of the inverter
Tautomated Colorectal Lymphoma Volume Calculation Using 3d Mri Images
The third most prevalent cause of cancer death in the world is colorectal lymphoma (CL). Future disease burden predictions advise health planners and raise awareness about the need for action on cancer control. The lymphoma volume is usually estimated by means of magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), which analyses mutation during medical diagnosis at advanced stages. The precise segmentation of abnormal tissue and its correct 3D display is key to appropriate treatment. Here, there is an intention to build a smart diagnostic system based on the human MRI research. The suggested model presenting identification, Segmentation and 3D visualization method, offering medical specialists’ expertise an efficient way for the 3D reconstruction of colorectal lymphoma using medical image processing in two-dimensional magnetic resonance images. Here the rectal MR images are Preprocessed that can be done using the weighted adaptive median filtering and uplift laplacian partial differential equation for further enhancement. Followed by preprocessing the Iterative Multi-linear component analysis was used for extracting the features. The extracted features can be given as an input for the CNN based Multiscale phase level set segmentation process. In this suggested segmentation, the abnormal resection margin is automatically analyzed and shows that this is consistent with traditional segmentation algorithm. Finally, a 3D simulation of the lymphoma of the colon is accomplished using the logical frustum model used for medical data rendering. The feasibility of the method suggested is confirmed by the 98.7% accuracy of the Colon MRI dataset. A subjective comparative analysis between the proposed approach and other state of art methods is also carried out as out in the work mentioned. The findings of experiments show a higher performance of the system than conventional systems, which support radiologists in measuring lymphoma size, structure and position in the colon
