    The Basic Cycles of Vocational Training: Student Satisfaction and Perceived Benefit

    This study aims to better understand students who attend Basic Vocational Training Cycles (Basic Professional Training, BTP) by implementing measures that ensure diversity. This quantitative research project approximated students’ perception of their passage through previous studies and their satisfaction and goals after finishing the school year. The sample consisted of 352 students from Cordoba (Spain). A questionnaire was used that follows the CIPP model. After exploratory factor analysis was completed with different groups of items and their descriptive analyses, various tests were carried out to consider the hypotheses (Pearson’s correlation (r), one-factor analysis of variance, and repeated ANOVA measures). The results indicate that the educational interest of the students is academic and professional. Likewise, there is no relationship detected between socio-professional goals and average academic levels and attributions with respect to repetitions of previous courses, although these goals vary depending on students’ satisfaction with the vocational cycles. We conclude that the course of the FPB influences decisions regarding academic–professional projects

    The ceramic-lids of Peña Negra (Crevillent, Alicante) and associated issues in the iberian peninsula during the early Iron Age

    Se analiza un conjunto de tres discos de cerámica procedentes de los niveles del Hierro Antiguo de Peña Negra. Presentan diferentes acabados y estarían provistos de asas, por lo que deben interpretarse como tapaderas de grandes recipientes de almacenaje. Se ha realizado el estudio petrográfico y mineralógico mediante microdifracción de rayos X (µDRX). Los resultados indican que se trata de piezas de composición relativamente homogénea y de probable producción local, cocidas a baja temperatura. Se revisa el hallazgo de objetos similares en otros contextos del Hierro Antiguo, destacando los recuperados en el Noreste peninsular y el Valle del Ebro, donde además se localizan discos-tapadera realizados en yeso similares a dos ejemplares recuperados en Peña Negra, donde es un material frecuente empleado en la construcción y en la fabricación de objetos.A set of three ceramic discs from the Early Iron Age levels of Peña Negra are analysed. They exhibit differences in surface treatment and would have been fitted with handles, so they should be interpreted as lids of large storage vessels. Samples of each disc were studied by means of petrographic and mineralogical analysis (X-ray micro-diffraction, µDRX). Resulting data indicate that those are pieces of relatively homogeneous composition and that were probably locally produced, fired at low temperatures. The discovery of similar objects in other Early Iron Age contexts is reviewed, highlighting those recovered in the Northeast of the Iberian Peninsula and the Ebro Valley, where gypsum discs have also been found, similar to two examples found in Peña Negra.     Internet Gaming Disorder in adolescents: personality, psychopathology and evaluation of a psychological intervention combined with parent psychoeducation

    Internet Gaming Disorder is an increasingly prevalent disorder, which can have severe consequences in affected young people and in their families. There is an urgent need to improve existing treatment programs; these are currently hampered by the lack of research in this area. It is necessary to more carefully define the symptomatic, psychosocial and personality characterization of these patients and the interaction between treatment and relevant variables. The objectives of this study were three: (1) to analyze the symptomatic and personality profiles of young patients with Internet Gaming Disorder in comparison with healthy controls; (2) to analyze the effectiveness of a cognitive behavioral treatment on reducing symptomatology; and (3) to compare the results of that treatment with or without the addition of a psychoeducational group offered to the parents. The final sample consisted of 30 patients consecutively admitted to a specialized mental health unit in Spain, and 30 healthy controls. The experimental group received individual cognitive-behavioral therapy. The experimental group was divided into two subgroups (N = 15), depending on the addition or not of a psychoeducational group for their parents (consecutively admitted). Scores on the Millon Adolescent Personality Inventory (MACI), the Symptom Checklist-Revised (SCL-90-R), the State-Trait Anxiety Index (STAI), and other clinical and psychopathological measures were recorded. The patients were re-assessed post treatment (except for the MACI questionnaire). Compared with healthy controls, patients did not differ in symptomatology at baseline, but scored significantly higher in the personality scales: Introversive and Inhibited, and in the expressed concerns scales: Identity Confusion, Self-Devaluation, and Peer Insecurity and scored significantly lower in the Histrionic and Egotistic scale. In the experimental group, pre-post changes differed statistically on SCL-90-R scales Hostility, Psychoticism, and Global Severity Index and on the diagnostic criteria for Internet Gaming Disorder, regardless of the addition of a psychoeducational group for parents. Pre-post changes did not differ between experimental subgroups. However, the subgroup without psychoeducation for parents presented statistically higher drop-out rates during treatment. The results of this study are based on a sample of patients seeking treatment related to problems with online gaming, therefore, they may be of value for similar patients.Peer ReviewedPostprint (published version
