    Ekonomi pengalaman dalam sektor gastronomi dari lensa komuniti setempat

    Gastronomi merupakan salah satu sektor dalam pelancongan yang kini mendominasi perkembangan ekonomi pengalaman. .Ekonomi pengalaman, yang diperkenalkan oleh Pine dan Gilmore (1998), mencadangkan bahawa pengguna mencari The Four Realms yang terdiri daripada empat unsur; pendidikan, hiburan, estetik dan kelainan semasa mendapatkan barangan atau perkhidmatan. Walau bagaimanapun, bagaimana penduduk tempatan mengungkapkan ekonomi pengalaman dalam konteks sektor gastronomi masih tidak jelas walaupun lokasi mereka telah terkenal diiktiraf sebagai destinasi gastronomi. Artikel ini bertujuan untuk menilai prestasi pengalaman ekonomi dalam sektor gastronomi, terutaman di restoran dan kafe premis di Bandar Baru Bangi. Kawasan kajian ini dipilih kerana ia terkenal dan diiktiraf sebagai destinasi gastronomi bukan sahaja dalam kalangan penduduk setempat tetapi juga masyarakat luar. Hasil kajian diperolehi melalui pemerhatian di lapangan dan survei ke atas 382 responden yang terdiri daripada komuniti setempat di Bandar Baru Bangi menggunakan persampelan bertujuan. Hasil kajian menunjukkan bahawa pengalaman estetik dan kelainan lebih menonjol daripada pengalaman pendidikan dan hiburan. Penduduk merasakan bahawa premis gastronomi melibatkan banyak unsur pengalaman berbentuk fizikal dan langsung seperti menikmati hidangan autentik. Sebaliknya, pendidikan dan pengalaman hiburan kurang dirasakan dalam sektor ini, kerana ia melibatkan pengaruh penyerapan dalam minda pelanggan. Dapatan kajian ini boleh digunakan oleh usahawan sektor gastronomi untuk meningkatkan kualiti perkhidmatan dan kemudahan, dan memposisikan sektor gastronomi sebagai ekonomi pengalaman yang dominan

    The paradigm shift toward the k-economy in this era of globalization requires various stakeholders - industrialists, governance, universities - to be competitive, proactive and innovative in creating new ventures. To meet these demands, the formation of an ideopolis as a development strategy has become a central concern in developing countries. Various studies have shown that for an educational city-hub to function effectively as an ideopolis nine key components or drivers will need to emerge, namely, physical investment; building on existing assets; diverse specialization; high skill organisation; a vibrant education sector; a distinctive knowledge niche; connectivity leveraging; strong visionary leadership; and community investment. For Malaysia the question if it is meeting all the nine requirements of an ideopolis is relevant, crucial and needs to be answered. Based on an empirical case study of the Kuala Lumpur city-region, this paper seeks to gauge the extent to which the city-region has been able to meet some of those prerequisites. It concludes that the Kuala Lumpur city-region is an emergant ideopolis that sets to enhance the country’s regional and global competitiveness

    Institusi pengajian tinggi dalam pembangunan ekonomi pengalaman di Semenanjung Malaysia

    Pembangunan institusi pengajian tinggi merupakan salah satu strategi untuk mencetuskan pembangunan sesebuah bandar di kebanyakan negara sedang membangun. Dalam konteks pembangunan bandar masa kini, institusi pengajian tinggi juga mampu memperkembang dan mengikut rentak tuntutan ekonomi pengalaman. Melalui kerangka ekonomi pengalaman, penubuhan institusi pengajian tinggi ini dapat merangsang dan menggalak pembangunan bandar berteraskan 4E ekonomi pengalaman. Makalah ini bertujuan menilai impak pembangunan institusi pengajian tinggi terhadap elemen-elemen ekonomi pengalaman dalam pembangunan bandar pusat pengajian tinggi di sekitar semenanjung Malaysia. Empat elemen ekonomi pengalaman digunakan sebagai kerangka dalam menilai pencapaian ekonomi pengalaman bandar-bandar tersebut. Pembangunan yang berlaku kesan dari penubuhan institusi pengajian tinggi dinilai dengan melihat status bandar yang dicapai serta fasiliti-fasiliti yang terbina selepas penubuhan institusi-institusi ini. Fasiliti yang mencermin setiap pengalaman iaitu pendidikan, hiburan, estetika dan escapist dilihat untuk menilai pencapaian ekonomi pengalaman di setiap bandar pusat pengajian tinggi yang diteliti. Hasil kajian mendapati hampir kesemua institusi pengajian tinggi yang dinilai berjaya mempengaruhi elemen pengalaman pendidikan di bandar masing-masing. Selain itu, institusi pengajian tinggi jenis penyelidikan berjaya membangunkan ekonomi pengalaman di bandar pusat pengajian tinggi sama ada institusi tersebut ditubuhkan di kawasan bandar mahupun luar bandar. Kesimpulannya, kajian ini menyumbang kepada peri pentingnya penubuhan institusi pengajian tinggi dalam merangsang pembangunan ekonomi pengalaman dalam pembangunan bandar dan menyumbang kepada korpus ilmu berhubung dengan keupayaan kerangka ekonomi pengalaman membangunkan sesebuah bandar

    Vaccine knowledge among generation Y Malays in Pulau Pinang : a pilot study

    The increasing spread of infectious diseases in Malaysia has resulted the topic of vaccine acceptance and rejection is gaining traction in academia. the recent outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic undoubtedly has manifested the never-ending debate of the topic of immunisation both academically and in public discourse. Thus, it is appropriate and timely to delve deeper into the ideas, norms, and values that influence people's health preferences and behaviour, particularly in vaccination. This study concerns on the perceived and actual vaccine knowledge of Generation Y Malays aged 25 to 40 years old in Pulau Pinang. It is critical to understand the public discussion vaccines within the framework of social interaction – how vaccines are portrayed and publicly understood. A pilot study was conducted prior to this to evaluate the procedure for participant recruitment, the data collection processes and the usability of the survey questionnaire. The improvements made to the instrument and methodology before beginning the main research study on vaccine knowledge among Malaysians in Pulau Pinang were made in an attempt to contribute to the body of research in this area

    Social media and decision-making process among tourist: a systematic review

    Social media nowadays have a huge influence on the tourism sector. With the advancement of search engines, tourists can search for any information they need on their tourism preferences. Today, there are tons of social media websites (such as TripAdvisor, Trivago, Booking.com, Agoda.com) that can help the tourist to find and decide the best tourism places and activities around the world. Studies have shown that social media is one of the best tools that are used by a tourist in the decision-making process. This paper is written to have a better understanding and to find a gap in the studies related to this topic. Hence, this paper focuses on conceptual review using a systematic review based on 24 published journals and theses from 2015 to 2019 on the influence of social media and its impact on the decision-making process for the tourist. Based on the findings, the majority of the scholars supported that social media have a big impact on how people make the decision for their tourism destination. The gaps that derived from this review have proven that only limited studies have been conducted in Malaysia; most of the research used a quantitative approach; only a few studies have included the theory related to this issue, and the targeted respondents were mostly among young travellers. Therefore, further studies on the role of social media in the decision-making process can be done by focusing on these gaps, especially in the Malaysian context
