Piechota, who also heads UNLVâs Urban Sustainability Initiative (and is this authorâs boss in that capacity), covered all the overlapping curriculum and research going on. Of about 400 total research projects university-wide, 142 involve clean energy, water or environmental science â some at the nexus of all three. UNLVâs entry, Autonomy House, is marketed as an âage-in-placeâ home for an empty nester whose children have grown up. The 730-squarefoot home will use daylighting from windows, insulation and solar panels to produce more energy than it consumes.
