Landau Analog Levels for Dipoles in the Noncommutative Space and Phase Space
In the present contribution we investigate the Landau analog energy
quantization for neutral particles, that possesses a nonzero permanent magnetic
and electric dipole moments, in the presence of an homogeneous electric and
magnetic external fields in the context of the noncommutative quantum
mechanics. Also, we analyze the Landau--Aharonov--Casher and
Landau--He--McKellar--Wilkens quantization due to noncommutative quantum
dynamics of magnetic and electric dipoles in the presence of an external
electric and magnetic fields and the energy spectrum and the eigenfunctions are
obtained. Furthermore, we have analyzed Landau quantization analogs in the
noncommutative phase space, and we obtain also the energy spectrum and the
eigenfunctions in this context.Comment: 20 pages, references adde
Consistency analysis of a nonbirefringent Lorentz-violating planar model
In this work analyze the physical consistency of a nonbirefringent
Lorentz-violating planar model via the analysis of the pole structure of its
Feynman propagators. The nonbirefringent planar model, obtained from the
dimensional reduction of the CPT-even gauge sector of the standard model
extension, is composed of a gauge and a scalar fields, being affected by
Lorentz-violating (LIV) coefficients encoded in the symmetric tensor
. The propagator of the gauge field is explicitly evaluated
and expressed in terms of linear independent symmetric tensors, presenting only
one physical mode. The same holds for the scalar propagator. A consistency
analysis is performed based on the poles of the propagators. The isotropic
parity-even sector is stable, causal and unitary mode for .
On the other hand, the anisotropic sector is stable and unitary but in general
noncausal. Finally, it is shown that this planar model interacting with a
Higgs field supports compactlike vortex configurations.Comment: 11 pages, revtex style, final revised versio
Immune response and protective profile elicited by a multi-epitope chimeric protein derived from Leptospira interrogans
Introduction: Pathogenic Leptospira is the causative agent of leptospirosis, a widely disseminated disease of human and veterinary concern. The development of vaccines that elicit cross-protective immunity through multiple leptospiral serovars has long been pursued. The aim of this study was to develop a novel chimeric multi-epitope fusion antigen, containing sequences of previously studied outer membrane proteins (OMPs) of Leptospira.
Methods: The chimeric protein was designed based on the amino acid sequences of the LigA, Mce, Lsa45, OmpL1, and LipL41 proteins, cloned into pAE vector, the protein expressed in Escherichia coli, and its immune response evaluated in the hamster infection model.
Results: The recombinant chimeric protein (rChi) was recognized by antibodies present in serum samples of confirmed cases of human leptospirosis and experimentally infected hamsters, demonstrating that the rChi protein participates in the immune response activation during infection. However, despite high antibody titers achieved when the rChi protein was administered with either Alhydrogel or Bordetella pertussis monophosphoryl lipid A (MPLA), only 50% of the hamsters were protected against infection.
Conclusions: Although a complete characterization of the immune response elicited by rChi/adjuvant in hamsters is required, it is believed that the construction of chimeric genes is an important attempt towards the generation of an effective vaccine against leptospirosis
