現在の英語カリキュラムと新入生の学習者ビリーフに基づく発展的提案
In order to provide students with good teaching, the curriculum needs to be reviewed and revised periodically. Even minor changes can be of benefit. To prepare a better curriculum for students, teachers should know students’ needs and wants. In this report, the present English curriculum at Okayama Prefectural University is described. The present curriculum aims to improve students’ four skills: listening, reading, speaking, and writing in addition to increasing vocabulary and grammar knowledge. Then, the results of a survey on 2018 first-year students’ beliefs regarding learning English are reported. Students’ beliefs include attitude toward English learning, motivation, anxiety, and expectation. Last, based on the results of the survey, the strengths and weaknesses of the present curriculum are discussed.

By cultivating archives through successive activations people and communities define identities. In these activations the meanings of archives are constructed and reconstructed in cognitive, affective snd conative modes.Archival documents are not exclusively information objects, but components of communication process. In that process documents can have performative power, they can accomplish something, make a difference in status before and after.Archives are thus not a static artefact imbued with the record creator\u27s voice only, but a dynamic process involving an infinite number of stakeholders in time-space.That is why archives are never closed, but open into the future.Digital archives will always be in a state of becoming, being created and recreated by technologies of migration and reconstruction, and by the use of social media applications.講
中枢神経系原発悪性リンパ腫の放射線治療個別化の妥当性と有用性:画像評価を用いた治療効果に基づく放射線治療計画
Background: To assess the feasibility and efficacy of individualized treatment selection in radiation therapy (RT) for primary central nervous system lymphoma (PCNSL) according to treatment response by radiographic assessment. Methods: The details of recurrence and change in performance status (PS) were assessed in 31 patients with histologically confirmed PCNSL treated between 2000 and 2016. During the treatment period, radiographic assessment was conducted, and RT planning (RTP) was determined individually by treatment response. Results: At a median follow-up of 28.2 months, 9 patients were alive and 7 of whom were relapse-free. Two-year overall survival (OS) and progression-free survival (PFS) rates were 69.3% and 52.7%, with median survival times (MSTs) of 36.5 months and 24.4 months, respectively. Two-year local recurrence rate was 40.5% and the median time to local recurrence from treatment initiation was 27.9 months. All patients were scheduled to receive whole-brain RT (WBRT) and subsequent partial-brain RT(PBRT), with a median total dose to the tumor bed of 46 Gy and median WBRT dose of 30 Gy. Eight patients received reduced-dose WBRT (rd-WBRT) (<30 GY), and 13 patients who could not achive a complete response (CR) during the RT period received additional boost radiation after WBRT and PBRT, with a median dose of 6 Gy. Over 70% of local recurrence occurred within areas in which only WBRT was conducted (median dose of 30.3 Gy). Two-year occurrence rate of neurotoxicity over grade 2 was 49.5%. PS at 24 months after RT was maintained in 12 patIents. Conclusions: lndividual RTP using radiographic assessment led to reasonable survival and disease control rates with mild treatment-related toxicity. For patients not receiving chemotherapy or lacking a CR after chemotherapy and WBRT, WBRT followed by PBRT and additional boost radiation for poor RT responders might be effective. However, even for patients with CR after chemotherapy, a WBRT dose of 30 Gy or higher might be necessary for local control.博士(医学)・甲第705号・平成31年3月15
A multicenter randomized controlled trial to evaluate the efficacy and safety of nelfinavir in patients with mild COVID-19
Nelfinavir, an orally administered inhibitor of human immunodeficiency virus protease, inhibits the replication of severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) in vitro. We conducted a randomized controlled trial to evaluate the clinical efficacy and safety of nelfinavir in patients with SARS-CoV-2 infection. We included unvaccinated asymptomatic or mildly symptomatic adult patients who tested positive for SARS-CoV-2 infection within 3 days before enrollment. The patients were randomly assigned (1:1) to receive oral nelfinavir (750 mg; thrice daily for 14 days) combined with standard-of-care or standard-of-care alone. The primary endpoint was the time to viral clearance, confirmed using quantitative reverse-transcription PCR by assessors blinded to the assigned treatment. A total of 123 patients (63 in the nelfinavir group and 60 in the control group) were included. The median time to viral clearance was 8.0 (95% confidence interval [CI], 7.0 to 12.0) days in the nelfinavir group and 8.0 (95% CI, 7.0 to 10.0) days in the control group, with no significant difference between the treatment groups (hazard ratio, 0.815; 95% CI, 0.563 to 1.182; P = 0.1870). Adverse events were reported in 47 (74.6%) and 20 (33.3%) patients in the nelfinavir and control groups, respectively. The most common adverse event in the nelfinavir group was diarrhea (49.2%). Nelfinavir did not reduce the time to viral clearance in this setting. Our findings indicate that nelfinavir should not be recommended in asymptomatic or mildly symptomatic patients infected with SARS-CoV-2. The study is registered with the Japan Registry of Clinical Trials (jRCT2071200023). IMPORTANCE The anti-HIV drug nelfinavir suppresses the replication of severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) in vitro. However, its efficacy in patients with COVID-19 has not been studied. We conducted a multicenter, randomized controlled trial to evaluate the efficacy and safety of orally administered nelfinavir in patients with asymptomatic or mildly symptomatic COVID-19. Compared to standard-of-care alone, nelfinavir (750 mg, thrice daily) did not reduce the time to viral clearance, viral load, or the time to resolution of symptoms. More patients had adverse events in the nelfinavir group than in the control group (74.6% [47/63 patients] versus 33.3% [20/60 patients]). Our clinical study provides evidence that nelfinavir, despite its antiviral effects on SARS-CoV-2 in vitro, should not be recommended for the treatment of patients with COVID-19 having no or mild symptoms
Chemical constituents of the leaves of rabbiteye blueberry (Vaccinium ashei) and characterisation of polymeric proanthocyanidins containing phenylpropanoid units and A-type linkages
Chemical constituents of the leaves of rabbiteye blueberry (Vaccinium ashei READE) were investigated in detail. The major phenolic components were caffeoyl quinic acids, flavonol glycosides, flavan-3-ols and proanthocyanidins. Catechins and proanthocyanidins having additional phenylpropanoid units, such as cinchonains, kandelins and mururins, characterised the polyphenols of this plant. Among them, vaccinin A, an isomer of mururin A, was found to be a new compound, and the structure was characterised by spectroscopic methods. The most abundant polyphenols (11.3% of freeze-dried leaves) were oligomeric proanthocyanidins. Thiol degradation with mercaptoethanol indicated that the polymer was constituted of (+)-catechin and (-)-epicatechin as the terminal units and (-)-epicatechin, procyanidin A-2, and cinchonains Ia and Ib as the extension units. Mass spectral analysis suggested the presence of at least dodecamers with A-type linkages and phenylpropanoid moieties
Current status of space gravitational wave antenna DECIGO and B-DECIGO
Deci-hertz Interferometer Gravitational Wave Observatory (DECIGO) is the
future Japanese space mission with a frequency band of 0.1 Hz to 10 Hz. DECIGO
aims at the detection of primordial gravitational waves, which could be
produced during the inflationary period right after the birth of the universe.
There are many other scientific objectives of DECIGO, including the direct
measurement of the acceleration of the expansion of the universe, and reliable
and accurate predictions of the timing and locations of neutron star/black hole
binary coalescences. DECIGO consists of four clusters of observatories placed
in the heliocentric orbit. Each cluster consists of three spacecraft, which
form three Fabry-Perot Michelson interferometers with an arm length of 1,000
km. Three clusters of DECIGO will be placed far from each other, and the fourth
cluster will be placed in the same position as one of the three clusters to
obtain the correlation signals for the detection of the primordial
gravitational waves. We plan to launch B-DECIGO, which is a scientific
pathfinder of DECIGO, before DECIGO in the 2030s to demonstrate the
technologies required for DECIGO, as well as to obtain fruitful scientific
results to further expand the multi-messenger astronomy.Comment: 10 pages, 3 figure
