Ergebnisse zur Befragung über Möglichkeiten und Grenzen von neuen Pflanzenzüchtungstechniken im Öko-Landbau
In this empirical study interviews with experts from different business like organic agriculture (OA) or plant breeding companies were conducted to analyze the possibilities and limits of new plant breeding techniques (NBT) for organic agriculture (OA). Furthermore, the consequences of banning the NBT in OA were investigated. The survey showed that these techniques offer beyond some limits also opportunities for OA. Before excluding these techniques a priori, it seems to be rational to decide case by case depending on the cultured traits if these techniques are suitable for OA
Catholic and Nationalist Populism in the Current Poland
This paper is dedicated to Catholic and nationalist populism that has become a part of political party called Prawo i Sprawiedliwoœæ (Law and Justice), the faction which currently rules in Poland. This attitude of populism is characteristic also for its leader Jaros³aw Kaczyñski who builds his political strategy on populist slogans concerning nationalist and Catholic elements. The level of populism has permanently been growing since the origin of PiS. The great power that supports these tendencies is the Catholic hierarchy. A folk version of religion is a main face of Polish Catholicism. It is one of the sources of populism in Polish society. The Catholic Church in Poland has lost its intellectual image. Author underlines that populist slogans try to mobilize right-wing electorate but consequences for Polish political system, the place of Poland in Europe and international relations as well as for the future of the European Union can be dangerous
Nowe funkcjonały gęstości elektronowej do modelowania układów związanych niekowalencyjnie
The main part of this work deals with the problem of constructing density-functional methods within the realm of hybrid semilocal approximations, that is, within the set of practical electronic-structure methods that can be applied to real-world molecular systems. In a series of works, the author demonstrates the merits of various building blocks of approximate functionals: the kinetic energy dependence of the exchange-correlation functional, dispersion correction, and long-range correction to the DFT exchange energy. The prototype method which includes these elements is the MCS functional; this method is, however, restricted to the description of noncovalent systems. The final and most complete method devised by the author is a scheme for converting an existing exchange functional into its range-separated hybrid variant. The approach is based on the exchange hole of the Becke-Roussel type, which has the exact second-order expansion in the interelectron distance. The LC-PBETPSS functional, which is constructed by applying this scheme, combines the range-separated PBE exchange lifted to the meta-GGA rung and the TPSS correlation. Numerical tests show remarkably robust performance of the method for noncovalent interaction energies, barrier heights, main-group thermochemistry, and excitation energies
New Tribalism in Europe
Our paper is dedicated to tendencies of tribalism which appear in contemporary Europe. We can see them also in post-communist societies, e.g. in Poland, Czech Republic and Lithuania. Postmodernity is similar to the traditional order characterized by an ethnic mosaic and so-called fragmentarized identity. These tendencies are located in opposition to the project of homogeneous modern state nation. They are a real challenge for nation states. The question concerning relation between tribalism and European integration processes is still open. We can see positive aspects of tribalization for the realization of the idea of united Europe. It weakens the power of nation state which supports the process of building supranational structures. However, the situation is more complicated. New ethnic nations can ultimately be guided by ethnical selfish. In this time they disintegrate nation states but in the future their disintegration activity could be directed at the European Union
Several reflections on regulated activity within the scope of municipal waste collection from real estate owners (Part II)
The new statute dealing with maintaining cleanliness and order in municipalities has not only significantly changed the way the entire system of municipal waste management within a municipality functions, but has also brought about changes in the legal status of the businesses providing services of municipal waste pick up for owners of properties. The past formula under which the business received a permit for providing services has been replaced with the obligation to become entered into the register of regulated activities. As a result of municipalities having to maintain registers of regulated activities and obligations which have been imposed on businesses numerous questions and doubts have arisen
