Background: In the present scenario of importance non-invasive surgery, there is increase in interest and requirement of vaginal hysterectomy for non-prolapsed uterus, i.e. non-descent vaginal hysterectomy (NDVH) due to its scarless surgery. it has much more advantages than that of abdominal hysterectomy in term of cosmesis, lesser duration of surgery, lesser intraoperative complication, lesser post-operative morbidity and early resumption to work. The aim of the present study is to asses and compare various factors like duration of surgery, intraoperative blood loss, intraoperative and postoperative complication postoperative morbidities, pain perception on 3rd post-operative day, post-operative ambulation, duration of hospital stay, time taken to resume normal work, follow up complains and afterall to decide the appropriate route of hysterectomy for benign conditions. Methods: Hundreds of patients were selected as per the criteria. They were divided into two groups NDVH (non-descent vaginal hysterectomy) and TAH (total abdominal hysterectomy) according to the inclusion criteria. Above mentioned factors are compared between the two groups. Results: Duration of surgery, intraoperative blood loss, intraoperative complications, post-operative morbidities and complications, duration of hospital stay, time required to resume normal work are less in NDVH group. Conclusions: Non-descent vaginal hysterectomy is a better alternative to abdominal hysterectomy for benign conditions

A Shared-Disk Database Approach towards Securing Data in the Cloud

The increasing popularity of cloud computing in distributed computing environment may have positive as well as negative effects on the data security of service consumers. This paper highlights some major security issues existing in current cloud computing environments. The primary issue to be dealt with when talking about security in a cloud is protection of the data. The idea is to construct a privacy preserving repository where data sharing services can update and control the access and limit the usage of their shared data, instead of submitting data to central authorities, and, hence, the shared-disk database architecture will promote data sharing and privacy of data. This paper aims at simultaneously achieving data confidentiality while still keeping the harmonizing relations intact in the cloud. Our proposed scheme enables the data owner to delegate most of computation intensive tasks to cloud servers without disclosing data contents or user access privilege information

Research Excellence of IITs in Business, Management and Accounting: A bibliometric study

The present study assesses business research in Indian Institute of Technologies (IITs). The publications of IITs in business, Management and Accounting recorded in Scopus database dates back to 1963. The study analyzed top performing nine IITs and found 5000 publications during 1963 to 2019. Bibliometric analysis is implemented on data retrieved from Scopus database. The study identifies annual growth, prolific authors, authorship trend, leading journals and Bradford’s Law is tested on the collected data of Scattering in different source

Transport coefficients of hot and dense hadron gas in a magnetic field: a relaxation time approach

We estimate various transport coefficients of hot and dense hadronic matter in the presence of magnetic field. The estimation is done through solutions of the relativistic Boltzmann transport equation in the relaxation time approximation. We have investigated the temperature and the baryon chemical potential dependence of these transport coefficients. Explicit calculations are done for the hadronic matter in the ambit of hadron resonance gas model. We estimate thermal conductivity, electrical conductivity and the shear viscosity of hadronic matter in the presence of a uniform magnetic field. Magnetic field, in general, makes the transport coefficients anisotropic. It is also observed that all the transport coefficients perpendicular to the magnetic field are smaller compared to their isotropic counterpart.Comment: 22 pages, 11 figures. arXiv admin note: text overlap with arXiv:1903.0393

Background: Ectopic pregnancy is the leading cause of maternal death during the 1st trimester of pregnancy, accounting for approximately 10% of all pregnancy related deaths. A better understanding of ectopic pregnancy risk can help prevent its occurrence. The present study was designed to evaluate the ectopic pregnancy risk factors and their strength of association with ectopic pregnancy at a tertiary care hospital. Methods: It was a prospective study with 104 cases of ectopic pregnancy and 125 controls conducted in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, SCB Medical College, Cuttack for a period of 1 year. Detailed history suggestive of risks factor for ectopic pregnancy, menstrual and obstetrics history was taken. General, systemic, abdominal and vaginal examination was done. Diagnosis of ectopic pregnancy was confirmed by clinical examination, urine pregnancy test, ultrasonography and culdocentesis and only confirmed cases were included in the study group. Healthy pregnant women were taken as control group. Results: The study revealed that the risk of ectopic pregnancy was associated with the traditional risk factors including previous EP [Adjusted odds ratio (AOR) = 9.98, 95% CI: 0.89-11.1%], previous infertility (AOR= 7.29, 95% CI:2.53-21.0) and previous history of sterilization (AOR=12.47,95% CI: 3.50 - 44.4) and previous history of abortion (AOR= 3.10, 95% CI: 1.53-6.30). Age comparison between cases and controls revealed that the ODDS of having ectopic pregnancy was 4 times in the age group 30 to 35 years as compared to uterine pregnancy and this difference was statistically significant (P value = 0.007).Conclusions: Risk factors such as previous ectopic pregnancy, induction of ovulation, intra uterine device usage, abortion as well as increased maternal age along with recent diagnostic tools aid in early detection of ectopic pregnancy in women resulting in proper and timely treatment
