Telepsychiatry includes the medical services through modern digital media. On-line psychiatric and psychotherapeutic treatment is effective and safe as well as therapeutically equivalent compared to traditional off-line treatment. In times of epidemic crisis and restrictions on outpatient advice, telepsychiatry is an alternative and recommended method. The article presents recommendations on conducting online visits in psychiatric care prepared by the Scientific Section of Telepsychiatry of the Polish Psychiatric Association. The form and subject of conducting tele-visits were discussed, including reactive and somatic factors, and a psychiatric and somatic tele-visit scheme was also proposed.Telepsychiatria obejmuje świadczenie usług leczniczych poprzez nowoczesne media cyfrowe. Leczenie psychiatryczne i psychoterapeutyczne prowadzone online jest skuteczne i bezpieczne oraz ekwiwalentne terapeutycznie w porównaniu z tradycyjnym leczeniem offline. W okresie kryzysu epidemicznego i ograniczenia świadczenia porad ambulatoryjnych telepsychiatria jest metodą alternatywną i zalecaną. Study program on opinions of schizophrenic patients treated with antipsychotics

Wstęp. Brak współpracy pacjenta w leczeniu jest jedną z najczęstszych przyczyn przerywania leczenia i braku skuteczności terapii zaburzeń psychicznych. Wiele czynników może mieć wpływ na niestosowanie się pacjentów do zaleceń lekarskich, na przykład rodzaj schorzenia, zjawisko stygmatyzacji chorobą psychiczną i jakość relacji pacjent–lekarz. Celem badania była ocena opinii pacjentów leczonych lekami przeciwpsychotycznymi nowej generacji. Materiał i metody. Badaniem objęto grupę 1400 pacjentów schizofrenicznych, leczonych ambulatoryjnie jednym z leków przeciwpsychotycznych drugiej generacji. Wyniki. Pacjenci uważali, że najważniejszymi objawami, na których ustąpienie zwracają szczególną uwagę, są: lęk i napięcie, urojenia i omamy. Wśród objawów niepożądanych neuroleptyków pacjenci zwracali największą uwagę na senność, zaburzenia seksualne, otyłość i objawy pozapiramidowe. Ponad 80% pacjentów leczonych nowoczesnymi neuroleptykami chciało leczyć schizofrenię; 82% pacjentów uważało, że stosowanie leków przeciwpsychotycznych powoduje objawy niepożądane. 81% pacjentów uważało, iż stosowanie leku przeciwpsychotycznego poprawia ich poziom funkcjonowania w społeczeństwie i rodzinie; 74% pacjentów schizofrenicznych obawiało się objawów niepożądanych leków przeciwpsychotycznych, a 70% nie mówiło innym, że pobierają lek przeciwpsychotyczny; 77% pacjentów twierdziło, że leczenie schizofrenii jest skuteczne. Nie więcej niż 40% pacjentów czuło się źle lub nienaturalnie, stosując nowoczesny lek przeciwpsychotyczny. Wnioski. Pacjenci leczeni lekami przeciwpsychotycznymi drugiej generacji mogą odznaczać się dobrą współpracą. W opinii pacjentów, najważniejsze w leczeniu schizofrenii jest ustąpienie objawów wytwórczych i objawów afektywnych. Najbardziej kłopotliwymi objawami niepożądanymi neuroleptryków są: sedacja, zaburzenia seksualne, otyłość i objawy pozapiramidowe. Zjawisko stygmatyzacji pacjenta jest powszechne w grupie osób ze schizofrenią.Introduction. Noncompliance is one of most frequent reasons of discontinuation of therapy and lack of effectiveness of psychiatric disorders treatment. Many factors may influence on noncompliance, e.g. type of disease, phenomenon of stigmatization with mental disease and quality of patient-doctor relation. The study aimed to explore opinions of patients treated with new generation antipsychotics. Material and methods. One thousand four hundred out-patients treated with one of second generation antipsychotics were studied. Results. Patients considered anxiety, tension, delusions and hallucinations the most important symptoms to be released from. Most attracting neuroleptic side effects were drowsiness, sexual dysfunctions, obesity and extrapyramidal symptoms. More than 80% of patients treated with modern neuroleptics wanted to treat schizophrenia; 82% patients thought that the treatment with atipsychotics produces side effects. In opinion of 81% of subjects level of family and society functioning was improved by intake of antipsychotics; 74% patients worried about side effects of antipsychotics and 70% did not tell nobody they take antipsychotic drug; 77% of patients claimed that schizophrenia treatment is effective. No more than 40% of patients felt bad or unnatural using antipsychotic drug. Conclusions. Patients treated with second generation antipsychotics may be characterized with good compliance. In opinion of patients most important in the treatment of schizophrenia are productive and affective symptoms. Most interfering side effects of neuroleptics are sedation, sexual dysfunctions, obesity and extrapyramidal symptoms. Stigmatization phenomenon is abundant in the examinated group of people with schizophrenia

MODERN INDICATIONS FOR THE USE OF OPIPRAMOL

Opipramol is considered as a pharmacological agent that does not fit the classification taking into account the division of antidepressants, antipsychotics and anxiolytics. It has a structure related to tricyclic antidepressants but it has a different mechanism of action, i.e. binding to sigma1 and to sigma2 sites. It has been regarded as an effective drug in general anxiety disorders together with other agents like SSRI`s, SNRI`s, buspirone and pregabalin for many years. It can however also be indicated in other conditions, e.g. it may be used as a premedication in the evening prior to surgery, positive results are also observed in psychopharmacological treatment with opipramol in somatoform disorders, symptoms of depression can be significantly reduced in the climacteric syndrome. The latest data from literature present also certain dangers and side effects, which may result due to opipramol administration. Mania may be induced not only in bipolar patients treated with opipramol, but it can be an adverse drug reaction in generalized anxiety disorder. This analysis shows however that opipramol is an important drug still very useful in different clinical conditions

Structures and Properties of Ferroelectric Liquid Crystal Displays

Liquid crystals have unique physical properties as they combine the features of solids and liquids. In thermotropic liquid crystals the degree of order varies with temperature resulting in an appearance of intermediate phases. The least ordered phase is called the nematic phase and has been commercially utilized in a range of practical applications for the last two decades. This work deals with higher ordered, chiral liquid crystals and their potential for Information Technology applications. The principles of the Surface Stabilized Ferroelectric Liquid Crystal Display (SSFLCD) are explained and compared with alternative technologies on the flat panel market. The liquid crystal materials which are to be used in practical applications have to fulfil several requirements from chemical, physical and environmental points of view. These parameters are discussed with a special focus on the dielectric properties of ferroelectric liquid crystals. Major steps in liquid crystal cell preparation are presented. Different aligning techniques suitable for SSFLC devices are examined, including both evaporated SiOx films and rubbed polymer aligning layers. The influence of varying rubbing strengths on the surface topography of polyimide aligning layers was investigated by means of atomic force microscopy. The electro-optic characteristics under addressing condition for cells prepared with selected aligning layers in combination with a variety of ferroelectric liquid crystal mixtures are reported. Bistability and the influence of dielectric biaxiality on the contrast enhancement of electro-optic response characteristics has been studied and suitable combinations of liquid crystal mixtures and aligning layers are presented. As ferroelectric smectic liquid crystals are intrinsically bistable grey scale is difficult to achieve. Several solutions to overcome this problem are presented. Utilizing of the electroclinic effect for grey scale applications and in light intensity modulators is considered. Finally the field induced defects caused by the addressing pulses and their utilization in grey scale generation are discussed
