Automated Medical Tendering Management System (AMTMS) for medical suppliers in Jordan
In Jordan, the growth of hospitals and medical centers (public and private) has increased dramatically. As a result, the demand for quality medical equipments and supplies increased and require suppliers to act swiftly at all times. Therefore, there is a need to strategically develop a system to manage supplies for these institutions. The Automated Medical Tendering
Management System (AMTMS) is implemented as a
Web-based system to as this allows the systems to be accessed anytime and anywhere. Furthermore, it plays a major role for the administration of trade and E-commerce activities. This study aims to identify the user requirements and to develop a prototype and validate the functional requirements. The prototyping approach based on General Research Design Methodology was used to develop the tendering system prototype. This web-based system was constructed using C#, ADO, Java Script for logical code, ASP for creating webs pages, and Microsoft SQL Server for database. In additional, the prototype has been evaluated by employees working in this field using two sets of questionnaires (functionality and usability). The result of the evaluation shows positive feedback on the system
Themes-based classification for Al-Quran knowledge ontology
Al-Quran knowledge representations involved classification of Al-Quran verses for providing better understanding of the readers.
In the current era of social media challenges.
the representation of knowledge must be understood by human and computer in order to ensure the correctness of Al-Quran semantics
are persevered.Current approaches used conventional methods such as taxonomy, hierarchy or tree structure, which only provides a concept definition without linked to other sources of knowledge explanation.
This research aims to develop the Al-Quran Ontology by using theme-based classification
approach. The ontology model for Al-Quran is developed based on the Al-Quran knowledge theme defined in Syammil Al-Quran Miracle the Reference. The theme-based ontology approach has shown that the Al-Quran knowledge can be classified and presented systematically. This will encourage the development of applications
for Al-Quran readers.Moreover, the ontology
structure that representing the theme concepts in Al-Quran was reviewed and validated by the domain experts in Al-Quran
knowledge
Extending ETL framework using service oriented architecture
Extraction, Transformation and Loading (ETL) represent a big portion of a data warehouse project. Complexity of components extensibility is a main problem in the ETL area, because ETL components are tightly-coupled to each others in the current ETL framework. The missing extensibility feature causes impediments to add new components to the current ETL framework; to meet special business needs. This paper shows how to restructure the current ETL framework based on Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) to be easier to extend. This restructuring solution distributes the ETL into interoperable components. The distribution of
Extraction, Transformation and Loading components while keeping interoperability amongst them; can be achieved by SOA.A Classified-Fragmentation component to enhance the report generation speed is added to the new framework; as a proof of the extensibility concept. The result of this work is an extensible ETL framework including Classified-Fragmentation component as an extension
SQL-injection vulnerability scanning tool for automatic creation of SQL-injection attacks
Securing the web against frequent cyber attacks is a big concern as attackers usually intend to snitch private information, financial information, deface and damages websites to prove their hacking capabilities. This type of vandalism may drive many corporations that conduct their business through the web to suffer financial and reputation damages. One of the most dangerous cyber attacks is the Structured Query Language (SQL)-injection attack, whereby this type of attack can be launched through the web browsers. The vulnerability of SQL-injection attack can be attributed to inappropriate programming practice by the website developers, which leaves a lot of doors widely open for the attackers to exploit these and gaining access to confidential information that resides in the website server databases. In order to address this vulnerability, it must be feasible to detect the vulnerability and enhance the coding structure of the website to avoid being an easy victim to this type of cyber attacks.Detecting the SQL-injection vulnerability requires the development of a powerful tool that can automatically create SQLinjection
attacks using efficient features (different attacking patters) to detect the vulnerability of the websites. This paper discuss the development of a new web scanning (MySQLlInjector) tool with enhanced features that will be able to conduct efficient penetration test on PHP (started as Personal Home Page but now widely used as Hypertext Preprocesses) based websites to detect SQL injection vulnerabilities. This tool will automate the penetration test process, to make it easy even for those who are
not aware familiar about hacking techniques
Comparison of distributed technologies for defining a distributable and interoperable ETL framework
Extraction, Transformation and Loading (ETL) are major functionalities in data warehousing. Lack of component distribution and interoperability are the main problems in the ETL area, because ETL components are tightly-coupled in the traditional ETL framework. This paper explores and discusses five popular distributed technologies for the purpose of highlighting the best technology that is capable of overcoming the distribution and interoperability gaps of the traditional ETL framework. Based on the comparison of distributed technologies discussed in this paper, several benefits can be obtained when SOA is used in redefining the ETL framework such as: distribution, interoperability, reusability, portability, and compatibility with legacy systems. These advantages and other SOA specifications are discussed in this paper
Knowledge audit: the Agensi Antidadah Kebangsaan organizational case study
The paper discusses the knowledge audit conducted at Agensi Antidadah Kebangsaan Malaysia to evaluate the knowledge management practices in treatments of drug addicts and to gather insights into the types of knowledge that is important in providing necessary treatments to drug addicts. The audit evaluation was carried out using the components of Knowledge Audit such as Knowledge Need Analysis, Knowledge Inventory Analysis, Knowledge Flow Analysis and Knowledge Mapping based on the KeKMa methodology for knowledge audit. The findings from the evaluation indicates the need for incorporating knowledge management in managing the treatments provided at these centers and the feasibility for the implementation of integrated workflow system that would enhance the operations of these centers to provide effective care and treatment in the near future
Business Intelligence Model for Sustainability of the Malaysian Rural Telecenters
The objective of this paper is to galvanize research on rural telecenters sustainability. The research explores the sustainability of the Malaysian rural telecenters with the support of business intelligence (BI). It is posited that BI methods and tools could play vital role in assisting telecenters implement and monitor sustainable practices. The BI information planning phase, i.e., the systematic way of defining relevant information was utilized in this research. The empirical study was conducted through interviews and observations with a range of stakeholders including ministry officers, telecenters managers and operators. A thematic model comprising of sustainability issues and challenges that arise as the roles of telecenters
evolved and the relationships between these issues is developed through content analysis. This study contributes to both theory and practice by (a) the use of content analysis to discover and explicate key issues faced by rural telecenters as they aim to fill their national mission, (b) the support of the telecenters managers in enhancing participation by local communities, (c) the
identification of essential capabilities for effective and socially sustainable rural telecenters, and (d) the identification of sustainability model developed which can provide a basis for future telecenter research
Software process improvement in small software development firms
Most of small software development firms use ad-hoc manner in developing their software products where it is difficult for them to achieve the requirements of the traditional software process improvement (SPI) models and standards, as these traditional models and standards were developed for large firms. As such, these firms are suffering from the lack of suitable software development methods that will enable them to follow the SPI models. This can be addressed by having a suitable software development process improvement framework to enable them in delivering high quality software products that fulfil the customer's expectation faster and cheaper. This paper presents the software development process improvement framework which was developed based on the Capability Maturity Model Integration Version 1.2 for Development (CMMI-DEV1.2) as a software improvement model and eXtreme Programming (XP) as a software development method. It discusses the development processes of this framework by highlighting the steps and stages involved

Managing sustainability with the support of business intelligence: The case of Malaysian telecenters
In this paper we intent to explore how the sustainability of the Malaysian telecenters can be supported by business intelligence (BI). We suggest that BI has an important role to play in helping telecenters implement and monitor sustainable practices. We pay particular attention to one phase of any BI project, the information planning phase, i.e., the systematic way of defining relevant information in order to integrate it in reporting activities. We propose five steps in gathering the data for the study. Starting with literature review, requirement gathering, assessing the existing trend on telecenter, data analysis using data warehouse tools, and finally proposing a model. The main contribution of our study is to propose a conceptual model that includes the process of implementing business intelligence to support the telecenters sustainability
