In Situ Synthesis of a Wear Resistant Layer on the Surface of Low Carbon Steel produced by Laser Melt Injection Technology
Titanium and his compounds are one of the most frequently used reinforcing particles in iron – ceramic composite materials. These materials will possess special characteristics because they are quenchable, their hardness can be increased by heat treatment and they can be quite easily machined. The point of the technology developed in the Bay Zoltán Institute of Materials Sciences and Technology is to form the reinforcing layer on the surface of the sample in an in situ way by melting the surface of the low carbon steel and the laminar carbon felt using laser beam while the titanium metal powder is simultaneously added to the melt. Several methods (metallographic examinations, selective area hardness measurements, SEM, and XRD) were applied to answer the questions about the optimal conditions for the in situ synthesis of a wear resistant layer

A kutatás során a rĂ©sztvevĹ‘k szemĂ©lyĂ©ben változás nem volt. | An intensive description of the theory of the tools suitable for soil cultivation of forest areas full of stumps has never been carried out. The remedy of that particular issue is indispensable to provide information to the machinery developers and operators. To describe the theory of the tools and so as to model soil cultivation, the parameters influencing forest soil mechanization requires some basic data. That is why our tender was designed to carry out that sort of examination. First we carried out an intensive analysis and findings of the technical literature of agriculture and forest management available regarding this particular issue, -Hungarian and foreign as well- Later it was systematized by a computer from the point of view of mechanization. Soil resistance, compactness and humidity are the most significant factors of soil cultivation, besides being aware of the decisive factors of the soil cultivation; the numerical impact of the root system is also indispensable to decide the correlation between the forest soil and the tools for cultivation. Trial testing was launched to define the methodology of testing. It was followed by the measurements of 3-3 species of the most significant forest stand tree species in different conditions such as sandy-adobe, adobe, clay - adobe and clay. We studied the local time of 3 and higher dimensional Wiener process, and generalized some classical results of Erdos and Taylor, Polya, Erdos and Darling etc. We also studied some new type of statistical problems partly motivated by financial mathematics. These problems demanded the study of some non-trivial problems about random variables taking their values in a Hilbert space. We also studied some problems related to number theory, where the behaviour of some sequences depended both on some random phenomena and diophantic behaviour of some sequences. We got in such a way some new results about a classical problem of Mark Kac. We also got some new sharp estimates about U-statistics and other non-linear functionals of independent random variables. Such results may have interesting statistical applications. We also studied the theory of random permutations. We have proved a conjecture of P. McCullagh and obtained some interesting result on algebraic statistic motivated by a classical example of Diaconis. We also had some other investigations motivated by biostatistics. We developped the model of Kauffman about Boole networks and studied some problems of immunology and population genetics
Treatment of Hypertension: Favourable Effect of the Twice-Daily Compared to the Once-Daily (Evening) Administration of Perindopril and Losartan
Background/Aims: Little is known about the effect of twice daily administration of same dose of ACE inhibitor and ARB on the diurnal/nocturnal blood pressure (BP) ratio. We aimed to assess the effect of two widely used long-acting drugs: perindopril and losartan in the treatment of hypertension comparing the once-daily (evening) vs. twice-daily (morning and evening) administration with the same daily doses. Methods: Untreated primary hypertensive patients without complaints (a total of 164: 65 men, 99 women, 55.7±13.7 years of age, 41-41 patients per treated groups) were selected with non-dipper phenomenon, estimated by diurnal index (DI) Results: The mean BP, the percent time elevation index, and the hyperbaric impact decreased in both drug groups. Significant difference was observed in the DI in the case of twice-daily administration vs once-daily evening dosing. Conclusions: The twice-daily administration with the same daily dose of perindopril or losartan seems to be more effective compared to the once daily evening administration in eliminating the non-dipper phenomenon. According to some authors the non-dipping phenomenon increases cardiovascular risk, while others are of the opinion that the association of non-dipping with cardiovascular events does not necessarily mean that selective treatment of non-dipping improves cardiovascular outcomes
