Experimental and numerical analysis of the chromatic dispersion dependence upon the actual profile of small core microstructured fibres

    No full text
International audienceThe chromatic dispersion curve of the fundamental mode in small core microstructured fibres (SCMF) is both calculated using a Finite Element Method (FEM) and measured with a low coherence interferometric method. The great sensitivity of the chromatic dispersion to variations of the geometrical parameters of SCMFs (the pitch and the diameter) is pointed out. An excellent agreement is obtained between the numerical and the experimental results over a half micrometer spectral bandwidth [1.1 µm-1.6 µm]

Scientibus: a research team reaching out to school groups and the general public

Article de vulgarisation scientifiqueProdeedings of International conference on science communicationScientibus has been inaugurated by Claude Cohen Tannoudji in January 2004. It travels across the Limousin region with the aim of presenting sciences in a new way. Scientibus is an old school bus that has been modified in order to become an actual scientific experiment laboratory. It allows researchers, teacher-researchers and PhD students to penetrate inside secondary schools and high schools for science demonstrations (chemistry, physics, mathematics, biology, geology, ...). Exhibitions take place in the bus which is parked in the school yard. The main goal of this project is to get in touch with young generations. Scientibus also participates to general public exhibitions such as "the french week of science", the open house of Limoges University, the Telethon, the scientific years and also to various celebrations such as the 50th anniversary of the laser or the centenary of superconductivity

    No full text
The thesis is directed to the management, control and registration of femtosecond pulses with the purpose of research of the new physical approaches in the problems of high laser technologies. The work consists of the introduction (including the review of the corresponding literature), three chapters, conclusion and the list of the literature. The work consists of 117 pages, including 52 figures and the bibliography containing 148 names. In the work, the basic method of studies was the physical experiment in conjugation with the numerical modelling of the processes under study. Studies carried out in the work expand understanding about ultrashort pulse processing and delivery on femtosecond timescale. Obtained results can be useful for development of new effective methods and devices for ultrafast optics and laser physics.LIMOGES-BU Sciences (870852109) / SudocSudocFranceF
