AbstractThis paper focuses on a two-dimensional bidirectional pedestrian flow model which involves the next-nearest-neighbor effect. The Korteweg-de Vries equation is derived to describe the density wave of pedestrian congestion by nonlinear analysis. The soliton solution is obtained

An Integrated Service-Oriented Development Platform for Realization of e-Business Systems

Enterprises need to be responsive to meet dynamic businesses and requirements. Service-oriented architecture can improve e-Business applications in integration and flexibility. Therefore, service-oriented architecture has been envisioned as an appropriate computational paradigm for e-business applications. This paper proposes a multi-model driven collaborative development platform for building service-oriented e-Business systems. The platform supports service-oriented software engineering and application developments. It employs three views, i.e., business view, process view, and service view to support business and technical consultantsā€™ operations. Consultants can collaborate from distributed sites of, e.g., clients and IT vendors to provide their clientsā€™ with rapid system development and demonstration. The proposed platform is service-oriented and driven by three models, i.e., service meta-model, process model and business model. All of these three models are supported by a semantic reasoning engine to facilitate intelligent service discovery, process execution and business-business integration. A simple example has been used to demonstrate its functionality

Activation of Ī²-Adrenoceptors by Dobutamine May Induce a Higher Expression of Peroxisome Proliferator-Activated Receptors Ī“ (PPARĪ“) in Neonatal Rat Cardiomyocytes

Recent evidence showed the role of peroxisome proliferator-activated receptors (PPARs) in cardiac function. Cardiac contraction induced by various agents is critical in restoring the activity of peroxisome proliferator-activated receptors Ī“ (PPARĪ“) in cardiac myopathy. Because dobutamine is an agent widely used to treat heart failure in emergency setting, this study is aimed to investigate the change of PPARĪ“ in response to dobutamine. Neonatal rat cardiomyocytes were used to examine the effects of dobutamine on PPARĪ“ expression levels and cardiac troponin I (cTnI) phosphorylation via Western blotting analysis. We show that treatment with dobutamine increased PPARĪ“ expression and cTnI phosphorylation in a time- and dose-dependent manner in neonatal rat cardiomyocytes. These increases were blocked by the antagonist of Ī²1-adrenoceptors. Also, the action of dobutamine was related to the increase of calcium ions and diminished by chelating intracellular calcium. Additionally, dobutamine-induced action was reduced by the inhibition of downstream messengers involved in this calcium-related pathway. Moreover, deletion of PPARĪ“ using siRNA generated the reduction of cTnI phosphorylation in cardiomyocytes treated with dobutamine. Thus, we concluded that PPARĪ“ is increased by dobutamine in cardiac cells

The second International Workshop on Software Mining (Soft-mine) was held on the 11th of November 2013. The workshop was held in conjunction with the 28th IEEE/ACM International Conference on Automated Software Engineering (ASE) in Silicon Valley, California, USA. The workshop has facilitated researchers who are interested in mining various types of software-related data and in applying data mining techniques to support software engineering tasks. During the workshop, seven papers on software mining and behavior models, execution trace mining, and bug localization and fixing were presented. One of the papers received the best paper award. Furthermore, there were two invited talk sessions presented by two active researchers from software engineering and data mining community.</jats:p
