Pseudo-distances on symplectomorphism groups and applications to flux theory

Starting from a given norm on the vector space of exact 1-forms of a compact symplectic manifold, we produce pseudo-distances on its symplectomorphism group by generalizing an idea due to Banyaga. We prove that in some cases (which include Banyaga's construction), their restriction to the Hamiltonian diffeomorphism group is equivalent to the distance induced by the initial norm on exact 1-forms. We also define genuine "distances to the Hamiltonian diffeomorphism group" which we use to derive several consequences, mainly in terms of flux groups.Comment: 21 pages, no figure; v2. various typos corrected, some references added. Du théâtre en Abitibi-Témiscamingue?

Depuis maintenant deux ans, un groupe de recherche s'est organisé autour de la question du théâtre régional. À l'origine de ce groupe, on trouve trois professeurs de théâtre du Cégep de l'Abitibi-Témiscamingue, Jean-Guy Côté, Marie-Claude Leclercq et Claude Lizé. Ce noyau a d'abord fixé les objectifs de la recherche et la méthodologie afférente. En gros, l'objectif principal poursuivi, c'est la description du phénomène de l'activité théâtrale dans la région depuis les origines. Pour y arriver, il faut franchir certaines étapes: faire la chronologie des représentations; établir la nature du répertoire; décrire la dynamique des rapports entre les individus, les groupes de théâtre et les organismes qui jouent un rôle dans l'activité théâtrale; analyser l'insertion du théâtre régional dans le cadre plus vaste du théâtre national. Faire ce travail implique que nous rassemblions l'information disponible sur tous ces sujets. Nous avons donc mis sur pied un Centre de documentation sur le théâtre en Abitibi-Témiscamingue au siège social du Cégep de l'Abitibi-Témiscamingue. Dans ce Centre, on trouve un certain nombre de volumes spécialisés sur le sujet, des dossiers sur des troupes de théâtre (répertoires, affiches, programmes, états financiers, etc.), des entrevues (bandes magnétiques) avec des intervenants significatifs dans le cadre du théâtre régional, des bandes magnétoscopiques sur des spectacles, etc. On y trouve surtout des dossiers de presse. «La Frontière», journal hebdomadaire de la région de Rouyn-Noranda, a été dépouillée en entier et nous sommes en train d'en informatiser les données dans un fichier de gestion de dossiers. Les autres journaux régionaux sont en voie de dépouillement. Parallèment à mise sur pied du Centre de documentation, on a commencé à fouiller des aspects très «pointus» de l'activité théâtrale régionale. Regulatory function of the P295-T311 motif of the estrogen receptor α - does proteasomal degradation of the receptor induce emergence of peptides implicated in estrogenic responses?

The way in which estrogen receptor α (ERα) mediates gene transcription and hormone-dependent cancer cell proliferation is now being largely reconsidered in view of several recent discoveries. ERα-mediated transcription appears to be a cyclic and transient process where the proteasome - and thus receptor degradation - plays a pivotal role. In view of our recent investigations, which demonstrate the estrogenic activity of a synthetic peptide corresponding to a regulatory motif of the receptor (ERα17p), we propose that ERα proteasomal degradation could induce the emergence of regulatory peptide(s). The latter would function as a signal and contribute to the ERα activation process, amplifying the initial hormonal stimulation and giving rise to sustained estrogenic response
