    In 1862, Orson B. Adams settled in Harrisburg, Utah, a small Mormon settlement in Southern Utah that had been started the previous year. Orson acquired land on the southwest side of town and began to cultivate it. Being on the edge of the Mojave Desert, irrigation was necessary.
