Optical properties of tungsten thin films perforated with a bidimensional array of subwavelength holes
We present a theorical investigation of the optical transmission of a
dielectric grating carved in a tungsten layer. For appropriate wavelengths
tungsten shows indeed a dielectric behaviour. Our numerical simulations leads
to theoretical results similar to those found with metallic systems studied in
earlier works. The interpretation of our results rests on the idea that the
transmission is correlated with the resonant response of eigenmodes coupled to
evanescent diffraction orders.Comment: 4 pages, 3 figure
Reliability of fluctuation-induced transport in a Maxwell-demon-type engine
We study the transport properties of an overdamped Brownian particle which is
simultaneously in contact with two thermal baths. The first bath is modeled by
an additive thermal noise at temperature . The second bath is associated
with a multiplicative thermal noise at temperature . The analytical
expressions for the particle velocity and diffusion constant are derived for
this system, and the reliability or coherence of transport is analyzed by means
of their ratio in terms of a dimensionless P\'{e}clet number. We find that the
transport is not very coherent, though one can get significantly higher
currents.Comment: 14 pages, 5 figure
The Morphology of N=6 Chern-Simons Theory
We tabulate various properties of the language of N=6 Chern-Simons Theory, in
the sense of Polyakov. Specifically we enumerate and compute character formulas
for all syllables of up to four letters, i.e. all irreducible representations
of OSp(6|4) built from up to four fundamental fields of the ABJM theory. We
also present all tensor product decompositions for up to four singletons and
list the (cyclically invariant) four-letter words, which correspond to
single-trace operators of length four. As an application of these results we
use the two-loop dilatation operator to compute the leading correction to the
Hagedorn temperature of the weakly-coupled planar ABJM theory on R \times S^2.Comment: 41 pages, 1 figure; v2: minor correction
Steroid 21-hydroxylase is a major autoantigen involved in adult onset autoimmune Addison's disease
AbstractAn adrenal-specific protein reacting with autoantibodies in the sera of patients with adult onset Addison's disease has been purified from human adrenal glands. The protein, mol.wt. 55K, has the biochemical characteristics of steroid 21-hydroxylase and reacts on Western blots with rabbit antibodies to recombinant 21-hydroxylase. Absorption of the native human 55K adrenal protein with human adrenal autoantibodies prevented the subsequent reaction of the 55K protein with rabbit antibodies to 21-hydroxylase in Western blot analysis. In addition, human adrenal autoantibodies reacted with recombinant 21-hydroxylase expressed in yeast. These data indicate that the adrenal specific enzyme steroid 21-hydroxylase is a major autoantigen involved in adult onset autoimmune Addison's disease
Finite size giant magnons in the SU(2) x SU(2) sector of AdS_4 x CP^3
We use the algebraic curve and Luscher's mu-term to calculate the leading
order finite size corrections to the dispersion relation of giant magnons in
the SU(2) x SU(2) sector of AdS_4 x CP^3. We consider a single magnon as well
as one magnon in each SU(2). In addition the algebraic curve computation is
generalized to give the leading order correction for an arbitrary multi-magnon
state in the SU(2) x SU(2) sector.Comment: 19 pages; v2, v3: references added, typos fixe
The generalised scaling function: a systematic study
We describe a procedure for determining the generalised scaling functions
at all the values of the coupling constant. These functions describe
the high spin contribution to the anomalous dimension of large twist operators
(in the sector) of SYM. At fixed , can be
obtained by solving a linear integral equation (or, equivalently, a linear
system with an infinite number of equations), whose inhomogeneous term only
depends on the solutions at smaller . In other words, the solution can be
written in a recursive form and then explicitly worked out in the strong
coupling regime. In this regime, we also emphasise the peculiar convergence of
different quantities ('masses', related to the ) to the unique mass gap
of the nonlinear sigma model and analyse the first next-to-leading order
corrections.Comment: Latex version, journal version (with explanatory appendices and more

Non-planar ABJM Theory and Integrability
Using an effective vertex method we explicitly derive the two-loop dilatation
generator of ABJM theory in its SU(2)xSU(2) sector, including all non-planar
corrections. Subsequently, we apply this generator to a series of finite length
operators as well as to two different types of BMN operators. As in N=4 SYM, at
the planar level the finite length operators are found to exhibit a degeneracy
between certain pairs of operators with opposite parity - a degeneracy which
can be attributed to the existence of an extra conserved charge and thus to the
integrability of the planar theory. When non-planar corrections are taken into
account the degeneracies between parity pairs disappear hinting the absence of
higher conserved charges. The analysis of the BMN operators resembles that of
N=4 SYM. Additional non-planar terms appear for BMN operators of finite length
but once the strict BMN limit is taken these terms disappear.Comment: 1+26 pages, uses axodraw.sty. v2: typos fixed, references added. v3:

Factorized Tree-level Scattering in AdS_4 x CP^3
AdS_4/CFT_3 duality relating IIA string theory on AdS_4 x CP^3 to N=6
superconformal Chern-Simons theory provides an arena for studying aspects of
integrability in a new potentially exactly solvable system. In this paper we
explore the tree-level worldsheet scattering for strings on AdS_4 x CP^3. We
compute all bosonic four-, five- and six-point amplitudes in the gauge-fixed
action and demonstrate the absence of particle production.Comment: 23 pages, v2. references adde
Semiclassical strings in AdS(3) X S^2
In this paper, we investigate the semiclassical strings in AdS(3)XS^2, in
which the string configuration of AdS(3) is classified to three cases depending
on the parameters. Each of these has a different anomalous dimension
proportional to logS, S^(1/3) and S, where S is a angular momentum on AdS(3).
Further we generalize the dispersion relations for various string configuration
on AdS(3)XS^2.Comment: 15 pages, added reference
