    Scientometric Dimensions of Innovation Communication Productivity of the University of Madras: A Study based on Web of Science Database

    The paper analysis quantitatively 3830 papers published during 1999-2011 by the University of Madras in various domains like . Our work is based on data from the Web of Science and covers the 1999 to 2011 period. During 1999–2011 University of Madras publications have received a total of 25103 citations. The average number of citations per year was 1931. The average number of citations per publication was 6.55. The authors with most prolific publications were D. Welmurugan who topped the list with 317 publications during the period under study followed by R. Raghunathan with 254 publications, M N Ponnuswamy with 192 publications, H K Fun with 160 publications, K Ravikumar K with 146 publications, A K Mohanakrishnan with 138 publications, P Varalakshmi with 108 publications. Core journals preferred for publishing with high number of publications were: Acta Crystallographica Section E Structure Reports Online with 571 publications, Acta Crystallographica Section C Crystal Structure Communications with 87 publications, Tetrahedron Letters with 80 publications, Molecular and Cellular Biochemistry with 63 publications, Chemico Biological Interactions with 59 publications, Synthetic Communications with 57 publications, Current Science with 56 publications. Our analysis does not provide detailed insight on publications in another most important publication channel – scientific monographs – due to non-existence of suitable quality indicators

    ETDs are the most invisible form of useful literature and the most useful form of invisible literature. This paper provides useful advice on the issues that will arise as institutions go through the process of introducing the mandatory submission of electronic theses. It is clear that most of the issues that have arisen at TISS will be mirrored at other institutions that are considering the same changes, and so those institutions looking at the area of e-thesis submission may gain some useful insights. The paper also highlights the common barriers in building the ETDs and benefits of ETDs. In the end how to secure the theses and dissertations from the possible copy, paste & print features have been discussed
