A Descriptive Analysis on Usage of Online Knowledge Sharing Technology in Malaysian Research Universities
This study investigates the level of usage of online knowledge sharing technology among academics in Malaysian research universities. The prerequisite to successful knowledge sharing is the acceptance and utilization of the knowledge sharing technology (i.e.KMS), however, past studies testing the significant relationship between various technologies and knowledge sharing showed that there is no significant relationship between the two variables. Hence, the current study is interested in examining the level of usage of online knowledge sharing technology for the purpose of knowledge sharing among academic staff. A questionnaire survey was utilized in this study and a descriptive analysis was done. Specifically, the academics showed a high usage of online knowledge sharing technology. Therefore, an increasing emphasis on knowledge creation and sharing and technology application leads to a continuous evaluation on the role of technology in HRD
A Study on Impact of Minimum Wage on Sustainability and Competitiveness of the Timber Industry
In recent years, the minimum wage has become an increasingly popular for reducing inequality in many emerging markets. The aim of the minimum wage is to allow low income workers to maintain a decent standard of living without unduly limiting the flexibility of employers to allow Malaysia to remain competitive at the global level. In setting the minimum wage, the government took into account social and economic considerations: cost of living, productivity, competitiveness and employment. The timber industry in Malaysia is one of long-standing prominence, garnering much attention as one of the economy’s core components of growth. Malaysia is among the world’s largest exporter of tropical logs, plywood, sawn-timber and furniture to international markets. This survey aimed to reveal the impact of minimum wage on sustainability and competitiveness of the timber industry. This paper will emphasize on the comparison between wood and wood based product sector firms and furniture sector firms in the timber industry. The targeted respondents are the owners or the managers who have knowledge on the financial information and the operation details of the company. Overall, SMEs in the furniture sector seem to be more ready towards the implementation of the minimum wage policy in comparison to their counterparts in wood and wood-based products sector. Their operational performance ratings are generally higher for majority of the different performance aspects.  Â
Affordable And Quality Healthcare for The B40 Group in Selangor
Background of research & Problems - The Malaysian Healthcare system is one of the lowest and most
affordable health care systems in Asia. It tends to treat all Malaysians equally at the public hospitals. The
main limitation with the system would be there is a long waiting time to seek treatment especially when
the treatment is complex in nature. Public funding is limited and the public hospitals face many constraints
especially when there is shortage of specialists, limited equipment and lack of funds. Covid 19 has made
the treatment foe Malaysians in the public healthcare worst as the resources are diverted towards the
Pandemic related sickness.
Research Objectives - This study is to find ways to help the B40 to obtain quality and fast treatment before
it would turn fatal. Due to work commitments, trust in the healthcare systems and long waiting time, the
B40 seek medical treatment as the last resort and finally it might be too late for them as the diseases are
at advanced stage. A considerable effort is also taken when the patients come at the critical stage of the
disease, The accessibility to seek medical treatment also may be in question. The quality of life of the lowincome earners also found that being single and having earned low income, the quality life is low and the
presence of chronic diseases were noticed. (Puteh et al, 2019)
Research Method - Practical recommendations to improve the public policy will be proposed for the
wellbeing of the B40. A mixed method research would be conducted in Selangor in order to address the
issues from the B40 perspective, the doctors and policy makers. A survey will be conducted to the B40
living in the specified areas in Selangor. Interviews will be arranged with a focus group at the Ministry
level together with experienced professionals to get their views on the workable solutions.
Expected Findings - It is hoped that a national policy on the healthcare for the B40 can be recommended
to fulfil the healthcare of the B40
