Bone conduction (BC) is the way sound energy is transmitted by the skull bones to the cochlea causing a sound perception. Even if the BC sound transmission involves several pathways including sound pressure induced in the ear canal, inertial forces acting on the middle ear ossicles and cochlear fluids, alteration of the cochlear space, and pressure transmission through the 3rd window of the cochlea, the BC sound ultimately produces a wave motion on the basilar membrane similar to that of air-conducted sound. The efficiency of the BC stimulation is largely dependent on the skull bone where the skull acts as a rigid body at low frequencies and incorporates different types of wave transmission at higher frequencies. The interaural stimulation difference is determined by the difference between contralateral and ipsilateral BC sound transmission: the transcranial BC sound transmission. To benefit from binaural processing, the transcranial transmission should be low, while the same should be high when using BC hearing aids for unilateral deaf subjects. INFORMATION SYSTEM OF NEW STUDENT ACCEPTANCE WEB BASED BY PHP AND SQL

This research aims to produce software the Information System of New Student Acceptance Web Based by PHP and SQL that is able to manage the implementation of New Student Acceptance that is registration, selection, journalizing, announcement, and re-registration. This research also determined the level of proprietary software that has been made. Type of this research is Research and Development. The method of software development is using Waterfall Model. Software testing is done through whitebox and black-box testing, and alpha and beta testing by experts and users. Instruments using the Quality Factor McCall as indicator to determine the level of proprietary software with measurement scales using Likert Scale. Instrument testing is done through validity and reliability test. The techniques of data collection is using interviews and questionnaires. Analysis is using quantitative descriptive analysis. The results of this research showed that the Information System of New Student Acceptance Web Based by PHP and SQL is able to manage the implementation of New Student Acceptance that is registration, selection, journalizing, announcement, and re-registration. The assessment by experts indicates that this software is very worthy in terms of correctness and reliability, while in terms of integrity and usability is worthy. The assessment by teachers indicates that this software is very worthy in terms of correctness, reliability, and integrity, while in terms of usability is worthy. The assessment by students indicates that this software is worthy in terms of correctness and usability, in terms of reliability is very worthy, and in terms of integrity is worthy enough. Predictors of Swimming Ability among Children and Adolescents in the United States

Swimming is an important source of physical activity and a life skill to prevent drowning. However, little research has been conducted to understand predictors of swimming ability. The purpose of this study was to understand factors that predict swimming ability among children and adolescents in the United States (US). This was a cross-sectional survey conducted between February and April of 2017 across five geographically diverse cities. Participants were accessed through the Young Christian Men’s Association (YMCA) and included parents of children aged 4–11 years old and adolescents aged 12–17 years old. Independent t-test, analysis of variance (ANOVA), and univariate and multivariate analyses were conducted. Several factors were significant (p ≤ 0.05) predictors of swimming ability and explained 53% of the variance in swimming ability. Variables that were positively associated with swimming ability included: ability of parent(s) to swim, child/adolescent age, a best friend who enjoys swimming, water-safety knowledge, pool open all year, and encouragement to swim from parent(s). Variables that were negatively associated with swimming ability included: fear of drowning, being African American, and being female. Interventions and programs to improve the swimming ability of children and adolescents could be developed with these predictors in mind

This paper investigates how the developmental process of the Japanese-Black-Choctaw-Irish American poet Ai translates into a creative process that integrates aspects of identity thrown out or made abject by dominant cultural norms and ideals. Just as Ai once disidentified with parts of her identity to discover and integrate her abject Japanese heritage, Ai\u27s dramatic monologue James Dean explores the intersections where the poetic voice-the narrator or subject speaking-disidentifies with the cinematic and textual image of iconic white, heterosexual masculinity in order to integrate a sexuality that usually constitutes its outside. In the process, this paper argues that by mixing print and visual mediums, Ai\u27s mixed media, mixed race performance on the page creates an allegoric body, a space for a mediated identification with the icon that recognizes the oppressive discourses of white, male hetero-normativity and the apparatuses that sustain such an ideal by making certain bodies abject
