Senior Entrepreneurship Literature: A Systematic Review
The present paper aims to provide a comprehensive approach to the senior entrepreneurship literature, by employing a systematic review process, focusing on scientometric and content analyses. A data set of 47 articles indexed in the Clarivate Analytics Web of Science database was subject to investigation, this representing the result of a search in Web of Science Core Collection (Social Sciences Citation Index, Emerging Sources Citation Index, Science Citation Index Expanded) during April 2023. The employed scientometric analysis outlines a classification of the investigated senior entrepreneurship literature based on years of publication, subject areas, main authors, geographical distribution of the articles, most productive institutions, representative journals and publishers. Additionally, due to the developed content analysis over the abstracts of the articles included in the data set, the main research trajectories in the investigated senior entrepreneurship literature could be established. These particularly envisaged the studied topics, applied theories, employed research methods, and the main researched regions. Furthermore, starting from these premises, a future research agenda in the field of senior entrepreneurship was designed. The original analyses developed within the paper and the proposed novel research agenda bring a contribution to the scientific literature in the area of senior entrepreneurship, with important practical implications for scholars with research interests in the field
The Regional Development of the Romanian Rural Tourism Sector
In the present paper we put forward a clear assessment of the Romanian rural tourism, from a regional perspective. Based on data for 2016, using principal component analysis for mixed data and cluster analysis, we outline an accurate image of the Romanian rural tourism at NUTS level 3, focusing on its main determinants and key regional poles of development.
The novelty of the paper lays in developing one of the first composite indices measuring the rural tourism sector, in the Romanian scientific literature, which allows to rank the counties based on their performance and in providing a mapping of rural tourism, highlighting the counties with promising potential for developing activities in this sector. With high practical value, our empirical results may represent an important starting point in developing coherent policies meant at supporting and promoting rural tourism which can become an important generator of wealth and growth in the rural areas of Romani
A Quantitative Approach Regarding the Evolution of the Romanian Tourism Firms, During and After the Global Financial Crisis
The main goal of this research paper is to provide a quantitative assessment of the Romanian tourism industry (hotels and restaurants) from a county level perspective, in the specific context of the global financial recession and in the post -recession one. The evolution of the field is analyzed for the period 2008-2014 using county level data sourced from the National Institute of Statistics and from the Office of the Trade Register. The evolution of the main characteristics of the field: number of companies, number of employees, total turnover of the companies from the field and number of newly established companies, suggest the existence of significant disparities at the county level. The research reveals the fact that the total number of employees from the field (companies which have sent the final year documentation to the MPF) has decreased during the analyzed period with over 20%, fact that is a clear indicator of the magnitude of the effects of the crisis. The analysis of the disparities has revealed that Bucharest which is the most important concentration pole in this field, accounting for almost 11% from the total number of companies in 2008, has diminished its importance to little under 8.7%, in 2014. Using panel data regression we have identified some of the main characteristics of the Romanian counties that can be considered as indicators of the development perspectives of the tourism (hotels and restaurants) at county level (NUTS 3)
Regional Development Fueled by Entrepreneurial Ventures Providing KIBS – Case Study on Romania
The main goal of the current research paper is to analyze the evolution of the knowledge intensive business services sector from Romania, for the period 2008-2014, from a territorial point of view and to assess its impact in the general economic development. Using a time series of Gini coefficients and other quantitative instruments, the paper provides clear evidences that, during the 2008-2014 period, the domain has increased its concentration, Bucharest and the 10 most attractive counties being responsible for over 88% from the field’s activity at national level, in 2014. Another important fact is that Bucharest which is responsible for almost 66% of the field’s activity, in 2008, is diminishing constantly its importance during the analyzed period. Using panel regression, the presented research brings clear evidence that the main characteristics of the field (KIBS sector): number of companies, total turnover and number of employees can be used, as independent variables, in econometric models designed to estimate the size of the economy of the Romanian counties
Determinants of Romanians' Migration within the European Union: Static and Dynamic Panel Gravity Approaches
The 1st of January 2007 marked Romania’s accession to the European Union (EU) and represented its 'ticket' to a free access to the common market. This soon evolved into an important trigger for the increased migration flows from Romania towards the more developed western countries, members of the EU. Not only the opportunity of a free movement of persons – emerged with the integration - but also the existing socio-economic disparities between Romania and the more developed western countries in the EU, led to unidirectional migration flows. Using both static and dynamic panel gravity models, we aim to identify the main determinants of Romanians' migration towards 10 EU member states – Czech Republic, Denmark, Italy, Netherlands, Finland, Germany, Norway, Poland, Spain, and Sweden – for the period 2007-2014. Our empirical findings support the results of other studies performed on different economies. The most important pull factor for Romanians' migration is represented by the economic conditions in the destination countries, proxied by the GDP/capita. Other important pull factors fuelling Romanians' migration refer to the unemployment rate, life expectancy, education spending, and population density. A key role is also played by the existing social networks in the destination countries which are proxied in our model by the lagged migration flow
Nuclear modification factor for charged pions and protons at forward rapidity in central Au plus Au collisions at 200 GeV
We present spectra of charged pions and protons in 0–10% central Au + Au collisions at View the MathML sourcesNN=200 GeV at mid-rapidity (y=0y=0) and forward pseudorapidity (η=2.2η=2.2) measured with the BRAHMS experiment at RHIC. The spectra are compared to spectra from p+pp+p collisions at the same energy scaled by the number of binary collisions. The resulting nuclear modification factors for central Au + Au collisions at both y=0y=0 and η=2.2η=2.2 exhibit suppression for charged pions but not for (anti-) protons at intermediate pTpT. The View the MathML sourcep¯/π− ratios have been measured up to pT∼3 GeV/cpT∼3 GeV/c at the two rapidities and the results indicate that a significant fraction of the charged hadrons produced at intermediate pTpT range are (anti-) protons at both mid-rapidity and η=2.2η=2.2
