Modeling method of phase equilibrium in metal-slag system
This paper demonstrates a new modeling method of the complex heterogeneous processes between a metal and slag based on a pattern of formation of the crystallization fields of phases. The theoretical justification was provided for the using of the osmotic coefficients of Bjerrum-Guggenheim with the reduction reactions of elements from the liquid oxide melts into metal. As an example, the equilibrium procedure of a carbon-saturated Fe-Si melt with liquid CaO-SiO2-Al2O3 slag was presented and a mathematical model of the complex phase equilibrium in a metal-slag system was provided
Thermodynamic-diagram analysis of the Fe-Si-Al-Mn system with the construction of diagrams of phase relations
In the practice of complex theoretical studies of multicomponent systems, the so-called thermodynamic-diagram analysis method is known, which greatly simplifies the study of the features of phase transformations in multicomponent systems by dividing them into thermodynamically stable elementary partial subsystems of the same dimension as the main one. Thermodynamic-diagram analysis combines a thermodynamic assessment of the chemical interaction of components in the system under study with a geometric diagram. Such a combination, as studies of the physico-chemical bases of the production of refractories and ferroalloys have shown, turns out to be productive when interpreting chemical interactions in complex systems
Estimation of dissociation degree of congruently melting compounds through osmotic coefficient of BJERRUM-GUGGENHEIM
A procedure was developed to calculate the position of lines of monovariant phase equilibria for crystallization areas of congruently melting compounds through the dissociation degree of a chemical compound. The relevant mathematical apparatus was recommended to describe analyticallythe lines and surfaces of crystallization phases using the Bjerrum-Guggenheim coefficient. The iron-silicon phase diagram demonstrated that the osmotic coefficient of Bjerrum-Guggenheim (its linear dependence) can be as an assessment criterion of the composition of melts
Mathematical method of phase equilibrium of binary system Cr-Si based on Bjerrum Guggenheim concept
The procedure to study the phase equilibrium lines “solid - liquid” was developed for the binary systems with using a coefficient of Bjerrum Guggenheim. The universality of this procedure to solve a mathematical problem of phase diagrams and its efficiency to find the behavioristic characteristics of a solvent and the dissolved components in the equilibrium phases were demonstrated. Two types of the generalized mathematical expression as the modified Le Chatelier-Shreder equation were proposed to describe analytically the liquidus and solidus lines of phase diagrams of the whole class of systems
